The No-Stress Wedding Day

Your wedding day is almost here. You’ve dreamt about this day from the time you were a child. You fantasised about it, imagined what it would be like and now it’s upon you. You just knew you would look beautiful, your groom would be a dream, the wedding day ceremony would be so emotional, the wedding rings would have both your names on them and the celebration after that would be something to remember, always.

But wait a moment – you never imagined how much work would be involved in making a wedding day happen. How you would have to hunt for the right outfit to wear, decide on the guest list, try to keep everyone happy, mail the invitations, hoping you hadn’t forgotten someone, find the right venue, the perfect musicians, a photographer, flower arrangements, table décor, seating arrangements, the menu….the list for a wedding day seems never ending.

With the stress factor building up to such an extent, you wonder whether you can enjoy your own wedding. Yes you can - just do a few tips to bring down those stress levels and you will enjoy every bit of your wedding day.

What is most important is to be organised, keep your to-do lists and work with a plan. Then follow a few of these simple and fun stress-busters and you will be relaxed and ready to enjoy one of the biggest days of your life – your wedding day.

Exercise – join a gym, swim, run, walk, jog, bike or jump on trampolines. You will get rid of your frustrations and tensions with exercise. The endorphins released give you a natural ‘high’.

Meditation and Yoga – this is a natural stress-reliever. Yoga, deep breathing, stretches, all help to calm down a frazzled and overworked mind. It will also help your posture, body tone, flexibility and concentration. You will feel spiritually and mentally happy.

Watch a movie –whether you’re alone or with friends, watching a movie can take your mind off your stress. It could be a chick flick, an action movie, light-hearted comedy or anything at all – you will feel great after that.

Enjoy a spa – treat yourself to aromatherapy massages, facials, hydrotherapy - anything that you enjoy at a spa. You’ll feel better and it’s definitely better than heading to a bar. Drinking can increase your stress levels, besides making you feel hung-over just before the wedding day.

Sleep well – get your beauty sleep, all eight hours of it every night for a few days before the wedding day. Sleep is rejuvenating and you need it to keep your eyes sparkling and your skin glowing.

Do all the right things for your body – eat healthy, give up smoking, listen to music, enjoy hot tub baths and you will feel all the stress drain out of your body. So when the big wedding day arrives, not only will you look beautiful, but you will feel beautiful too.
