Snowball Fights And Wedding Rings

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

They were newlyweds, they’d just had their turkey dinner to celebrate their first Christmas together and they stepped out to play in the snow for a while. It quickly progressed to a snowball fight and suddenly, the bride realised that her wedding ring must have flown off when she was busy making or throwing those snowballs. Since then, the couple have been looking all over in the snow with no luck.

Then they called upon someone with a metal detector and they will be hoping that the ring is found. They had designed the wedding ring together in New Zealand and it is a Celtic design, a blue stone set in white gold. They are off to the Netherlands in a few days so we do hope they are lucky and find it.

Miracle Diamond Ring

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

A Salvation Army charity kettle in Fayette County in the US saw a new kind of a donation a few days ago – a diamond ring that was easily worth over £1,000. The ring has a solitaire diamond that is half a carat and it is set in 18 carat white gold. They say that the diamond is flawless and of the best quality. The person who opened the kettle didn’t realise what it was at first and just saw something shining. He soon realised that it was no ordinary piece of costume jewellery.

The point is, who could have done this? The question comes to mind that maybe it is a stolen ring. Or then again, it could be a genuine anonymous gift. The Salvation Army isn’t taking a chance – they will sell the ring and use the money only after they are sure that what they have isn’t stolen. For this, the police will have to go through their records to see if there are any reports of a ring like this being stolen. This isn’t the first instance however that the Salvation Army has been the recipient of something unusual and expensive. Their kettles have seen old gold coins and even a set of gold teeth! It is said that rings are also part of the largesse that the kettles throw up. Of course, on the downside, they also find popcorn, lint and jelly beans.

Wedding Ring Payment Tangle

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

A young couple bought their wedding rings at a jeweller’s store and got married in June. Though they had paid for the wedding rings by credit card, they got a lot of money as gifts during their wedding and so decided to pay off the amount through an online bill payment company. Imagine their shock when they got a reminder from the jewellery store that they hadn’t paid. Jason and Sarah Williams from Sacramento, USA were nonplussed because their online bill payment records showed that the money had been credited to the company.

It was only after quite a bit of confusion that they realized that there were two online companies with the same name and the payment had gone to the wrong company. There were two Rogers Jewellers – while one was the store in Sacramento they had bought their white gold wedding rings from, the payment had erroneously gone to a store of the same name in Iowa. What followed was worse – the store that received the money didn’t return it to them so they ended up paying for their rings twice. Well, the online payment company gave them a refund so all’s well that ends well.

The Rescue Of An Engagement Ring

Friday, June 27th, 2008

It was a thrilling rescue adventure in Maine, U.S. on the 21st of June as firemen rescued an engagement ring – yes, you read right, an engagement ring. Gloria Woodman’s engagement ring slipped off her finger as she was walking along the street and rolled into a storm drain. She was so upset that she called 911 and in ten minutes flat, they were at her apartment.

The drain grate came off first, then they realized that with so much water, it was impossible to try and get the ring by fishing it out with a bucket like they were doing. The Public Works truck that also came in started to vacuum out the water and then they decided that the best way to go about it was to send someone down. So fire-fighter Mark Roy was sent down and he searched manually. It took two hours but find it they did and the happy engaged couple was absolutely ecstatic.

The diamond engagement ring had a 1/3 carat stone set in white gold and there was not a scratch or mark on it when they got it back. Those fire-fighters are going to be guests of honour at the wedding. It really goes to show that there still are people who will go beyond the call of duty in more ways than one.
