‘Vivid Pink’ Diamond Ring Auction Generates Great Interest
Monday, November 9th, 2009At the Christie’s December 1st Hong King Sale of Extraordinary Jewels this year, there’s going to be a lot of interest to see who is going to walk away with this fabulous diamond ring. The ring has one of the highest priced diamonds set in it – a rare pink diamond that is 5 carats and its estimated value is between £3 and over 4 million. Named the ‘Vivid Pink’ it is said to be the biggest fancy pink diamond to ever be auctioned.
The unstated guess is that it will be snapped up by a Chinese buyer. Whether it is fine wines, jewellery or art, the Chinese new breed of super rich people are buying it all up. In fact, in most cases they are outbidding both the US and Europe at most of these auctions. Last years it looked like this dream run had come to an end but with the stock market prices flying once more in many parts of Asia, the market for luxury and rare items has jumped again.
