It looks like Rihanna the singer is going to get engaged to Matt Kemp, the baseball player and boyfriend of six months. Things look serious between them and maybe he is just what she needs to get over the whole bad publicity with Chris Brown. They haven’t really broadcast their affair to anyone outside and have kept in under wraps though sources say that she is absolutely in love with him and would love to marry him.

Matt plays with the Los Angeles Dodgers and it looks like he is very serious as well. Rihanna needs a loving man in her life right now and it looks like he might just fit the bill. So we’re waiting and watching to see what the engagement ring looks like - if there’s going to be one. And then, of course, speculating to see if there will be a wedding ring that follows soon.

There’s a new man in Rihanna’s life and he’s the basketball player, Matt Kemp. There’s still a lot of bling about her, what with the diamond rings, the diamond earrings and a chunky necklace. However, she’s started smiling again and she looked very much at ease with the world in her spotless white top and blue jeans. So maybe Matt is good for her. They were both the cynosure of all eyes at the ball game they were watching the other day.

The game was the one between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers and it was being played at the Staples Centre. Matt plays for the L.A. Dodgers. The couple brought in the new year in Mexico and they seem to have gotten very close. No doubt there were many in the stands taking quick glances at them too while the game was going on.

The night of November 22 saw the most beautiful people decked out in diamonds, waving to the crowds as they entered the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, America. The 37th annual awards show was glittering with stars from the music scene as well as the silver screen and the diamonds were as breathtaking as their designer dresses. Viewers sat glued to their television sets as the awards ceremony was kicked off with Janet Jackson.

Carrie Underwood was seen in yellow diamond earrings and a bracelet of champagne diamonds, dressed as she was in a one-shoulder gold dress. Melody Thornton showed off her diamond studs while Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna and Shakira sparkled too. Rihanna had on a platinum ring with black and white diamonds flanking a rose-cut diamond in the centre. Jennifer Lopez had on a five-carat wraparound ring and a wraparound diamond encrusted twisted cuff. The whole ceremony just shone with the light of diamonds dazzling!

A few days ago, at the 2008 MTV VMA Awards in Hollywood, what caught everyone’s attention was the huge turn out of stars as well as the massive bling they chose to adorn themselves with. It was as though they couldn’t get enough of diamonds. Their sparkle lit up the red carpet as cameras flashed, setting off a myriad sparkling rays.

There were bracelets, necklaces, bangles, cuffs and earrings. And of course, there were diamond rings. What seemed to be very popular were right hand diamond rings. Maybe there are too many controversial news reports being sparked off with diamond rings being worn on the engagement finger!

The celebs included Rihanna, Demi Moore and many more, all with intricately set diamonds. It really was a diamond day for music awards.

They won’t admit to even being friends. And yet, they’ve been caught on camera kissing, frolicking in a hot tub and out shopping together. That’s the latest in the pictures to hit the gossip pages, after the ones where they’ve been seen together in all parts of the world. Is that what ‘not even friends’ do? Maybe it is – it seems to be quite a Hollywood thing these days – first the diamond ring, then the denials, then the fact that it is a diamond engagement ring, then the wedding. The whole process punctuated of course, with many more denials. So one wonders, does No mean Yes in Hollywood? It’s been happening a lot these days – remember Mariah Carey?
