Crowthorne Jeweller Loses Platinum And Diamond Ring

Friday, February 26th, 2010

A platinum and diamond ring was stolen from a jeweller in Crowthorne and it was valued at over £3,000. The staff at the store said that two men walked in to look at jewellery, created some amount of confusion which distracted the staff and made off with the ring. One said he wanted to look at bracelets for a present for Valentine’s Day while the second said he wanted something to give his girlfriend as her birthday was coming up. Then he corrected himself and said he was thinking of getting engaged.

The staff was so confused that they didn’t realise when the two of them walked out without buying anything that they had taken the ring. They only realised it when they saw the empty ring pad where the platinum trilogy ring had been. Quite a change from burglars entering stores and robbing at gunpoint.

A Wedding Ring 60 Years After A Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring

Friday, February 12th, 2010

They were engaged sixty years ago and then they lost touch and though both loved each other, fate kept them apart. They both married others but never forgot each other. Till one day, 60 years later, they got in touch with each other over the Internet, reconnected and got married.

Then tragedy struck this romantic old couple in America. When she came back to her hometown to pack and move in with him in Los Angeles, he disappeared without a trace. Till now, his body has not been found. While she suspects foul play because he was well off, his children say that maybe he just went away because he felt shocked by what he had done on an impulse. For her, it’s a double tragedy as she sits waiting for news of him – wearing her new white gold wedding ring and her 60 year old platinum diamond engagement ring which has never left her possession.

2010 Awards Season Sees Platinum And Diamond Rings

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

There is a lot of platinum in the air in Los Angeles, USA, what with the awards season having begun. Also seen flashing on women’s hands are diamond rings. There’s plenty of dazzle that one can expect, going by one of the shows that have kicked off the celebrations, the 2010 People’s Choice Awards.

Diamonds glittered and there were stars like Queen Latifah, Mary Blige, Niecy Nash and Ginnifer Goodwin. Does it look like platinum is going to be the metal of the year? Sandra Bullock however, was seen in yellow gold and diamonds so maybe there will be other metals on the fashion scene as well.

Why Platinum Is Becoming A Favourite Wedding Ring Metal

Friday, January 8th, 2010

What else for an eternal wedding ring? Platinum is considered one of the most indestructible and highly resistant metals known to man. That makes it perfect for a wedding ring. Unlike gold which has been used for thousands of years, platinum came to be known after the South American conquest. The Spanish found a platinum-silver alloy used by the natives in Ecuador. Platinum is thirty times rarer than gold and much more expensive. King Louis of France on being acquainted with the metal declared that it was the only known metal that was fit for a king. Platinum is a much harder metal for setting gems. Indestructible platinum is widely used in watches as it does not wear out nor does it tarnish. It is also heavily used in many industrial applications, including auto emission control devices. Platinum has been found to have anti-cancer properties and is found in cancer drugs.

Platinum Wedding Rings: The New Trend

Wedding rings have come a long way from the old, simple, gold wedding bands of yore. Platinum, with its eternal, strong, qualities and soft sheen has begun to replace gold for wedding rings. It is a great metal for setting precious stones as it accents the brilliance of the stone, blending with it, allowing the gem to sparkle and delight without distraction. Platinum wedding rings, whether bevelled, designed, flat or with small diamonds are becoming the in thing with many today. Platinum wedding rings outweigh gold due to the atomic weight, giving the user a special solid feeling when worn. Since platinum is more durable than gold - what more than platinum wedding rings to seal that marriage vow forever?

The Engagement Ring And Wedding Ring Go Filigree!

That’s the latest in engagement ring and wedding ring designs and it looks like it’s a trend that more and more are following. In fact, maybe men should take a hint and start looking at these so there’s a sure chance of the girl saying ‘Yes’!

What is it about filigree work that is so beautiful? It is lacy, it is delicate, it is timeless, it is feminine. There’s a touch of the artistic and the elegant about it too. Maybe it’s a combination of all these qualities that makes it so appealing and the designs the rings come in today are exquisite. You can get filigree work for engagement and wedding rings in yellow gold, white gold and platinum. Of course, if you can afford it, there’s nothing better than a genuine filigree antique ring with diamonds.

Engagement Ring And Wedding Ring: Keeping The Balance

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Even if you could afford it, when it comes to rings that you need to wear on your fingers for a long time – hopefully till the day you die, it might be a good thing to think practically and look for a bit of balance. For example, a huge rock for an engagement ring might not go too well with a wedding ring that is very large and showy too. One might detract from the other or worse, it might clash and the whole effect could just be an eyesore.

A balance could be sought for with size, the metal used and the design. The ideal way would be to pick up an engagement ring and a wedding ring as a set. However, for many, the wedding day might not even be on the horizon when they get engaged so it might be worth it to go to the store and try on wedding rings with the engagement ring to see if it looks good. Not just that – to see if they’re a comfortable fit as well. The metal used is important too – yellow gold and platinum might not be a good match – it might be a good idea to get both rings in the same metal. It would be perfect if the two rings had a design where one fits perfectly into the other. Then, it would seem like a whole and not two separate and discordant parts.

Old Diamonds, New Diamond Rings

Friday, September 4th, 2009

It’s strange how people adapt – well, so do jewellers. In times when disposable incomes are less than they used to be, there’s a new fad going around – designing new diamond rings with old diamonds. This just saves so much money and while you can have a diamond, you don’t pay for it – just the setting.

The diamonds can be from any old diamond ring that you have, it can be an heirloom where the setting is something that is too heavy or something you don’t like. It can be just another diamond ring because you’re tired of your old one, it can be an anniversary ring, a diamond ring gift or even an engagement ring. A ring like this will be unique because you have designed it. And it will be at a price that most people can afford. It’s also a great idea for engagement rings that belonged to mothers or grandmothers, resetting an engagement ring if you have lost your husband or are divorced and even if you’ve never really liked a particular setting. You can even change the metal to make it look absolutely different - choose from yellow gold, white gold or platinum. A new diamond ring at a great price – what a great idea!

Platinum Wedding Ring Returned

Monday, August 17th, 2009

George Sydlar was eating out at a Chinese restaurant and he removed his platinum wedding ring to wash his hands. Putting them in his pocket, he forgot to put them back on. He then went to a store to buy lottery tickets. When he got home, he realised his ring was missing. This ex-policeman from New Jersey, USA was saddened by his loss and even went to jewellers in and around that area to see if the ring has surfaced somewhere there. This of course was after he had looked all over the restaurant and store for it. He was quite sure that if someone had found it, they would try and sell it.

Much to his amazement, an employee in the store had found the ring and turned it in. He had put it aside on the counter of the store hoping that the owner of the ring would come back for it. After a few days when George went back to the store, taking a chance that maybe it had turned up, there it was, waiting for him. The person who had found it no longer worked at the shop but it was a great feeling finding his ring.

Limp Bizkit Frontman And Girlfriend Exchange Neil Lane Wedding Rings

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Exactly when the wedding took place is a matter of debate but it was probably last week in Vegas. Fred announced it to the world in a rather unusual way – he tweeted the information. Well, that was great news to spread like wildfire over Twitter.

The wedding rings were Neil Lane designer rings and they were made of diamonds and platinum. Obviously Fred Durst and Esther Nazarov are very happy – he also posted a photograph where they were both toasting the happy occasion with mojitos. Fred had announced to the world – again on Twitter in April when they got engaged - that they would be getting married in July. The engagement ring was also by Neil Lane and the whole world could see it because he had uploaded that on Twitter too.
