Diamonds And Platinum Dazzle At The Emmy Awards

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The gems that shone and sparkled were mostly diamonds and the metal that had pride of place was platinum. It looks like the bold and the beautiful, the shining stars of the silver screen are increasingly being drawn to these two jewellery items when it comes to flaunting their attire and jewellery on the red carpet. This was the 62nd Emmy Awards function and it was well attended by many of the luminaries of the acting world.

Platinum was the favourite of many of the great celebrities and stars, even the ones from yesteryear. From Marilyn Monroe to Elizabeth Taylor to Grace Kelly, platinum and diamonds seem to have been a favourite especially when it came to red carpet time.

Some of the jewellery on display at this year’s Emmy Awards was Emily Blunt’s diamond and platinum bangle, Kelly’s Osborne’s white and black diamonds in platinum bracelets, Kim Kardashian’s platinum cuffs liberally studded with diamonds that were white and champagne coloured and Kyra Sedgwick’s platinum and diamonds earrings, ring and bracelets.

More And More Engagement Rings And Wedding Rings Being Sold

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

With the divorce rate rising in the UK and with the recession, there seem to be more and more people wanting to hawk their engagement rings as well as their wedding rings. Why not make a bit of money with something that you are never going to be wearing again, seems to be the attitude. When the website Postgoldforcash came into being last year, little did they think that they would be buying so many rings but they estimate that they have bought 10,000 wedding and engagement rings to date.
Their first advertisement was aired on British television last year and it featured Ann Diamond and ever since then, it has been a hit with so many people who wanted to sell their rings. This year has seen a rise in the number of divorces and speculation is that with hard times comes splits and if this is the case, then the money from the sale of the rings should be welcome.

The reason this site seems to be so popular is also because they offer more than most others for the rings, You can sell your diamond rings, your platinum, white gold or yellow gold rings or rings with any other stones and you can expect to get a reasonable resale price for it.

Emily Blunt Flaunts Wedding Ring

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

It happened sooner than we thought. When The Office star Jenna Fischer got married a couple of days ago, the word was out that the next in line would be her co-star, John Krasinski in the NBC TV series, The Office with British actress Emily Blunt. The news is that the couple got married in Italy at Lake Como, with Emily in a Marchesa gown. The wedding ceremony took place outdoors and was beautiful if reports are to be believed. They are back and were seen in Los Angeles en route to their honeymoon.

The guest list at the wedding included George Clooney and Elisabetta, his girlfriend and the couple stayed at George Clooney’s place which is close by. So now, Emily Blunt wears a sparking wedding ring that goes well with her huge 3-carat diamond and platinum engagement ring which is designed in an Edwardian style.

Emily Blunt made a name for herself in Hollywood with movies like The Devil Wears Prada and The Young Victoria after a great stint in the UK both on stage and on screen. She’s very versatile as an actress and she is a skilled horsewoman as well as a cello player.

Finally, 3-Carat Diamond Ring Owner Found

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

In a town in Pennsylvania, USA, a man found a 3-carat diamond ring in the parking lot of a store two years ago. He couldn’t find out who had lost the diamond ring but that didn’t stop him from looking. Finally, he recently found the owner when she answered his ad in the newspaper. The man had gone to the police and told them that he just couldn’t give up the search because someone was sure to be feeling the loss of a ring so valuable.

Then, this lady answered the ad that the police helped put out and she described the diamond ring perfectly. She had taken off the diamond ring which was an engagement ring because she didn’t want to show it off because it was so valuable. It must have fallen off somehow. Now there will have to be all that work because she had already claimed for insurance on that ring. It was a ring with a single diamond set in platinum.

Crowthorne Jeweller Loses Platinum And Diamond Ring

Friday, February 26th, 2010

A platinum and diamond ring was stolen from a jeweller in Crowthorne and it was valued at over £3,000. The staff at the store said that two men walked in to look at jewellery, created some amount of confusion which distracted the staff and made off with the ring. One said he wanted to look at bracelets for a present for Valentine’s Day while the second said he wanted something to give his girlfriend as her birthday was coming up. Then he corrected himself and said he was thinking of getting engaged.

The staff was so confused that they didn’t realise when the two of them walked out without buying anything that they had taken the ring. They only realised it when they saw the empty ring pad where the platinum trilogy ring had been. Quite a change from burglars entering stores and robbing at gunpoint.

Why Platinum Is Becoming A Favourite Wedding Ring Metal

Friday, January 8th, 2010

What else for an eternal wedding ring? Platinum is considered one of the most indestructible and highly resistant metals known to man. That makes it perfect for a wedding ring. Unlike gold which has been used for thousands of years, platinum came to be known after the South American conquest. The Spanish found a platinum-silver alloy used by the natives in Ecuador. Platinum is thirty times rarer than gold and much more expensive. King Louis of France on being acquainted with the metal declared that it was the only known metal that was fit for a king. Platinum is a much harder metal for setting gems. Indestructible platinum is widely used in watches as it does not wear out nor does it tarnish. It is also heavily used in many industrial applications, including auto emission control devices. Platinum has been found to have anti-cancer properties and is found in cancer drugs.

Platinum Wedding Rings: The New Trend

Wedding rings have come a long way from the old, simple, gold wedding bands of yore. Platinum, with its eternal, strong, qualities and soft sheen has begun to replace gold for wedding rings. It is a great metal for setting precious stones as it accents the brilliance of the stone, blending with it, allowing the gem to sparkle and delight without distraction. Platinum wedding rings, whether bevelled, designed, flat or with small diamonds are becoming the in thing with many today. Platinum wedding rings outweigh gold due to the atomic weight, giving the user a special solid feeling when worn. Since platinum is more durable than gold - what more than platinum wedding rings to seal that marriage vow forever?
