Diamond Rings Among ÂŁ1 Million Worth Jewellery Stolen

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Very valuable pieces of jewellery including a number of diamond rings were stolen from the Leatherhead area last weekend and there has been no trace of the thieves thus far. Apparently, there were five men spotted driving around the area in a Ford Fiesta and the police are still wondering how the thieves managed to gain entry into the house where this jewellery was kept. They are appealing to people, from passers by who might have seen anything to pawn shops, stores and auction houses to come forward with any information they might have concerning the robbery or the stolen goods.

The diamond rings alone were valued at thousands of pounds and among the ones that were stolen, there was one that was shaped like a panther and one that had a ruby set in it. The most expensive diamond ring stolen was valued at ÂŁ140,000 and it was a platinum ring set with a 5-carat diamond.

The other items that were stolen were a gold Rolex watch, a Cartier chain with a pendant, diamond earrings and platinum chandelier diamond earrings. Also taken were silver and gold coins that had been packed in red boxes. The police are hoping they will be able to unearth some clues soon that will help them to recover the jewellery.

Platinum Ring Sales Soar

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

There’s a report in the UK that says that the sales of platinum rings are going up, even while there is talk of cutbacks, lay-offs, recession and bad times. Not just platinum – what seem to be jumping off those shelves are platinum engagement rings which must mean that diamonds are in favour too! If you talk to jewellers in and around London, you’ll find that they all think so.

What people tend to be doing is skimping on the other things that constitute an engagement or wedding. They do not however, seem to be skimping when it comes to diamond rings – especially of they are made of platinum. Some jewellers say that over 80% of their engagement ring sales are platinum. There are billions spent worldwide on the whole wedding celebration and engagement rings make up a huge chunk. You would think that people would cut down in this area but it has not happened. Maybe people see platinum diamond rings also as a great investment.

Platinum And Diamond Rings Stolen in Ballymena

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

County Antrim in Northern Ireland witnessed a daring daylight heist of platinum and diamond rings from a jewellery store in Ballymena. Two men walked into the store and made off with three rings. Together, the three rings were worth thousands of pounds.

Descriptions of the two men have been circulated all over and the public has been warned to report anyone who is caught trying to dispose of these stolen goods. The men were believed to be from Eastern Europe. Any suspicious activity should be reported – at least that is the appeal the police have made, hoping to make some kind of headway in this case.

Apparently the theft occurred in the afternoon at Caldwells Jewellers when the two men made off with the tray in which the rings were kept.
