British Men Want Engagement Rings Too

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

More and more men seem to think that it’s only fair that they get an engagement ring too. And if it’s a diamond ring, all the better. For one thing, men are wearing a lot more jewellery today and for another, why should only the man do the spending, seems to be the sentiment.

For too long perhaps, men have done all the spending, even the very expensive engagement ring. However, with women earning as well, it’s time, men feel, that they, too, start paying and what better way to begin that with an expensive ring. According to famous jeweller H. Samuel, there’s a steadily increasing demand for men’s engagement rings today – also called ‘mengagement rings’. So we’re guessing that more and more women will start proposing to men now.

Mengagement Rings In Demand

It looks like the ladies are waking up and staking their claim on men. If a man can give a woman an engagement ring, in this day and age of equality, why can’t a woman do so too? Suddenly, male engagement rings are flying off the shop shelves and sales are soaring.

The latest in the news to by one is Jennifer Hudson and she ordered a beautiful diamond-studded one for David Otunga, her fiancé, from the famous Neil Lane. So is this branding of their man going to become a fashion that is going to last or will this fad die a natural death soon? As more and more women are earning well and they want to make sure that the world knows their man belongs to them, maybe the fashion of mengagement rings is here to stay.

From Diamond Engagement Rings To Diamond Mengagement Rings

The news is that more and more men are buying engagement rings when they get engaged too. When a couple walks in to choose an engagement ring for the lady, chances are, the man will pick up one for himself too. Or better still, have it given to him by his lady.

They’re calling them ‘mengagement rings’ – the masculine of engagement rings obviously. It seems a great idea especially if women have proposed on Valentine’s Day and they would like to give their men a token of their appreciation. With more and more women working and having incomes of their own, this makes a lot of sense and it makes things more equal. Now it’s not just the man who has to do the spending for a proposal.

The other advantage is the fact that women would love to show the world that their particular man is spoken for so to speak. Otherwise, a man, till he wore his wedding ring appeared to the world to be footloose and fancy free. Women are standing up and probably saying that what is sauce for the goose must be sauce for the gander as well. We’re sure the metrosexual man of today isn’t complaining.
