Diamond Rings And Jewellery Market Grow In India

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

India has not been a potential diamond market though most of the diamonds pass through this country to be cut and polished. However, recent trends have seen a surge in demand for diamond jewellery and the new diamond brands with innovative and young designs are raking it in.

India has for long been a gold market but with the population becoming younger, there seems to be a change in old habits and attitudes, Today’s couples are looking at platinum when it comes to engagement rings and of course, diamonds. Economists feel that in a couple of years, India could well be buying up 10% of the world’s diamonds. Today, the diamond demand in India is pegged at over £12 million and it looks like one can safely predict a lot of growth.

This could be due to more than just the age demographics – it could also be due to the fact that the economy is booming and there is a lot more disposable income when it comes to the younger generation. Urbanisation and the consumer bug have bitten a lot of people, it seems, all over the country and it seems to be reflected in the diamond jewellery sales. Even the rising process of gold and platinum do not seem to be a deterrent in the surge in sales.

Will They Find Their Wedding Rings?

Friday, January 14th, 2011

The floods in Queensland have had so many stories of loss but this one is really sad. The Kochos – Judy and Greg of Condamine have been married for thirty-seven years and they were evacuated when floods hit their town a week ago. They were flown back a few days ago and their one aim is to find their wedding rings which they are wishing were not washed away in the floods.

They had left their wedding rings locked up in a cupboard which is why there is some hope that they can locate it and get those rings back. For them, the gold of those rings are a symbol of their eternal love and they so want to find them. Their home is a farm that goes back to the 18th century and today all that seems left of it is one big swamp. It is located on the outskirts of Condamine.

Even though there is water all around, the floods seem to be receding. However, any more rain and the water levels could go up. The residents of the town however, are glad to be back home – and home it is to them, even though the whole town is water logged. There’s no electricity and no running water but home is, after all, home. It’s going to be tough and residents have been warned not to venture out too much. Most people have lost everything.

Diamond Rings Stolen In Jewellery Store Heist In Melbourne

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

What do jewellery sales people do when people come in to see rings and then make off with them? No one is likely to buy unless they see and try on the rings. And yet, when the rings are outside their display cases, there’s always the danger that they could be stolen.

The Victorian Diamond Traders Store at Melbourne’s Highpoint Shopping Centre saw a diamond heist where two diamond rings were stolen. A man had come into the store four times looking for rings. The last time he walked in, he asked the sales person to show him two diamond rings – a gold one with a 2-carat diamond and a silver one with a 0.7 carat diamond. When the sales person showed them to him, he took them and ran out of the shop. The two female sales people were too shocked to do anything.

The store had a CCTV camera so with the pictures on it, the store owner hopes that the police can catch the thief. The police came in immediately and are trying to track down the man, who, according to descriptions was in his thirties and a Caucasian.

Kristen Stewart Wears Eclipse Wedding Ring

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

The last in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn is being shot and Kristen Stewart was seen wearing the ring she was given in the previous movie, Eclipse. The film is being shot in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro where the couple in the movie goes to for their honeymoon. The series has generated so much interest and people who read and loved the book seem to feel that the movie has captured the spirit of the book, something that is rather hard to do.

The ring was described so beautifully in the book so much so that there was a rush among fans of the book to go and buy the rings that were being sold in the same design. The wedding ring that the vampire hero, Edward Cullen gave Bella, the heroine was a beautiful diamond ring that belonged to his mother. Stephanie Meyers, the author of the book had described it as a narrow gold band that made a delicate wed around rows of round glittering diamonds.

We also heard Robert Pattison who plays Edward’s part was ever the gentleman on the sets, helping Kristen along in her high heels which must have made the shooting very tiring. In real life too, they are a couple which makes the romantic series even more interesting for their fans.

Finally, Russell And Katy’s Wedding Rings

Monday, November 8th, 2010

After that exotic Eastern wedding, now we finally see a wedding ring on Katy Perry’s finger. It’s been all of three weeks now since the hot news of their wedding hit the media. She and Russell Brand had a traditional wedding in India and then went off to one of the Maldives islands in the sun for a honeymoon.

The wedding itself was a very private and according to them a very spiritual one. And no, though they stayed in India’s tiger reserve, he absolutely did not gift her a tiger. Nor did they have a wedding feast that went on for days. What is true is that on the honeymoon in the Maldives, a spider spoiled their fun because Katy had to take medication after her brush with it and had to cope with a rash. Now that was a bit of a dampener to a holiday that was supposed to be all about the sea, sand and the sun.

Now, the two seem finally married after flaunting their matching gold wedding rings encrusted with diamonds. They were both at the MTV awards show in Spain and their wedding bands sparkled. Expensive, showy and some very serious bling seemed to be what everyone was thinking as they walked down that red carpet. There were a lot of other celebrity musicians as well at the ceremony but the focus seemed to be firmly on the newlyweds.

Diamond Ring And Jewellery To Be Auctioned For Charity Work

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Not many people would do that and having an athlete who has broken records wanting to sell her jewellery so her foundation can carry on with its charity work is commendable. But that’s exactly what Catherine Freeman has done. She won the gold in the 400m race way back at the Sydney Olympics ten years ago but she isn’t resting on her laurels – she’s busy looking after a charity foundation.

The jewellery was auctioned last month and included an expensive diamond ring, Cartier, Bulgari and Georg Jensen watches and some other pieces. The auction was held in Australia at the Leonard Joel auction rooms in South Yarra. The jewellery and the gold items realised money that will go to the foundation.

Catherine Freeman’s foundation supports children of the indigenous community and it is located on Palm Island. Freeman feels that her days of being an athlete are long gone but her work with the foundation is what is relevant and what she needs to focus on.

Where Was The President’s Wedding Ring?

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

Reporters had a field day wondering where President Obama’s gold wedding ring could have gone to as it wasn’t on his finger when he had a crucial press conference. Trust reporters to notice every little detail. Now, as everything seems perfectly all right at the White House in the USA, they wondered what other reason could make him take the ring off.

The mystery was solved when sources revealed that it had gone to be repaired. The wedding ring had been in the middle of a controversy when it had emerged that it was an intricate design which had been made in Indonesia where he had spent some time growing up. The wedding ring is a thick band of gold and it has carvings on it. His wife’s, on the other hand, is a slim gold band which she takes off if it does not match what she’s wearing.

The President had convened the press conference which was watched all over in order to announce certain measures to pump up the US economy which is on the downslide. This is no doubt preparatory to reforms being announced on the economic front.

More And More Engagement Rings And Wedding Rings Being Sold

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

With the divorce rate rising in the UK and with the recession, there seem to be more and more people wanting to hawk their engagement rings as well as their wedding rings. Why not make a bit of money with something that you are never going to be wearing again, seems to be the attitude. When the website Postgoldforcash came into being last year, little did they think that they would be buying so many rings but they estimate that they have bought 10,000 wedding and engagement rings to date.
Their first advertisement was aired on British television last year and it featured Ann Diamond and ever since then, it has been a hit with so many people who wanted to sell their rings. This year has seen a rise in the number of divorces and speculation is that with hard times comes splits and if this is the case, then the money from the sale of the rings should be welcome.

The reason this site seems to be so popular is also because they offer more than most others for the rings, You can sell your diamond rings, your platinum, white gold or yellow gold rings or rings with any other stones and you can expect to get a reasonable resale price for it.

Is That A Wedding Ring Or A Commitment Ring, Mr. Bond?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Daniel Craig was spotted with a gold ring on his wedding ring finger and so was his long time girlfriend, film producer Satsuki Mitchell. With both of them wearing rings that obviously looked like wedding bands, can the public be blamed for thinking they had got secretly married? Especially when sources close to them brushed it off saying that it was a private matter.

They both put in an appearance for the Artists for Peace and Justice gathering and apparently the rings were also on display during the Help Haiti appeal. They are both private people so we are guessing it will be a while before they tell, even if they are married.
