Diamond Ring And Hair Of Elvis Fetch a Lot

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The Heritage Auction which sold Elvis memorabilia last month realised quite a bit from the King’s possessions. Had he been alive, he would have been 75 today and there were many who wanted to own a part of him which is why this auction at Memphis drew a large crowd.

His stunning gold and diamond cameo ring sold for a huge sum and so did a lot of other pieces that were auctioned. However, his famous white piano didn’t sell because it did not get the asking price. They say it might be sold privately later. With Elvis dying so young it was obvious that the great performer he was, he would be remembered for years by his loyal fans.

What made news was the jar of dyed black hair of his that had been collected by his barber and was auctioned along with his other stuff. He was so famous for his black quaff and the hair no doubt was a great bit to remember him by for the person who bid for it and bought it.

Elvis’s Huge Opal And Diamond Ring To Be Auctioned

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

There are a number of the singer’s possessions that are soon going to go under the hammer. There’s his address book, his convertible car, his gold-rimmed spectacles, his piano and his famous opal and diamond ring. The ring is expected to bring in around £20,000. Also going to be auctioned is his target pistol.

The opal and diamond ring – and the opal in the centre is huge – is still in a pristine condition. Elvis gave it to Ginger, his fiancée in the mid-seventies. The opal is an Australian fire opal and the whole ring looks like it were made for royalty with its ornate design. Well, the man was called the King so maybe the ring was made to celebrate that. The opal is half an inch and around it is set sixteen dazzling diamonds. The opal glows with a variety of colours – from green to yellow to red and it really does look like a fire is burning inside.

Elvis loved opals and even had then sewn onto his famous sequinned jackets. Maybe he felt it was one stone that reflected the way he was – moody at times, on fire at others. He had it made for his little finger and his giving it to Ginger showed just how much he cared for her. Also to be sold is his piano which he played on and composed his tunes. He had it painted white with a gold trim. The piano was one which he bought because he used to hear gospel songs played on it when he was young.

Elvis’s Diamond Ring To be Auctioned

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Way back in 1975, Elvis took off his 10-carat diamond ring and gave it to a man in the audience during a concert. Now that ring, encrusted with 19 diamonds is all set to go under the hammer at an auction in Tallahassee in the US early December. The diamond ring is unique and it is the kind of ring only a celebrity would wear.

The fact that it is Elvis Presley’s ring is sure to bring in bidders from all over the world. Together with the ring, there are also cuttings from that period and an account of how the man got the ring gifted to him. The ring is made of gold though it isn’t known who exactly made it for Elvis who loved jewellery that was unique. The man who got it, Lloyd Perry, was sitting in the front row at the concert when Elvis threw his guitar into the audience. Lloyd’s friend kept it and then, Elvis asked Lloyd to come up onto the stage where he put his ring onto Lloyd’s finger. One can also bid for this diamond ring online.
