How far will people go to get an engagement ring that is unique? This man went the wholeni9ne yards and more because he knew his girlfriend was a huge Indiana Jones fan and he wanted to show just how much he cared enough to give her something that she would treasure. So he set out to design a ring that would be like no other but would be custom made and not off the shelf.
First, the engagement ring and then the proposal. He designed the ring with a bullwhip and then went on to look for a jewellery designer in Las Vegas, America to make it for him. It is a yellow diamond engagement ring and the colour of the diamond is reminiscent of the Idol in the series. The Idol might not ring a bell for everyone even if one has seen the movie or movies as the case may be but for an avid fan, it would be just the right button to push. And yellow happens to be her favourite colour. However, the ring took some time coming so here’s how the proposal went.
The guy proposed with a ring box and when the girl said Yes, he gave it to her. She opened it to find just sand inside the box and any other woman might have said No but not her. She understood the significance. This was to buy time till the ring got ready. When he did get the ring, he made a box fashioned out of old stuff to make it look like ruins inside and gave it to her with four other boxes, asking her to choose and choose wisely as it happens in the movie. If he has gone to so much trouble over the ring, one wonders what their wedding theme will be like!

In a store in North Carolina, USA, a woman was trying on clothes when the diamond from her wedding ring slipped off. A salesperson saw her on her knees trying to see if it had fallen on the floor. He joined the search and when they couldn’t find it, he called the cleaning staff. They went the extra mile and looked through three huge vacuum bags from their cleaning machines and to the lady’s great relief, there was the diamond ring in one of them.
The store is Nordstrom and they pride themselves that they do more for their customers. Till now, they had a video clip that showed a man wanting to return two tyres and the salesman just looked for their price and gave him back his money. Now it looks like the finding the diamond video with the lady who lost it and the shop assistants will replace this video. This is a part of not just Nordstrom’s helping more than warranted but also its return policy which is based on a no questions basis.
Finding the diamond from the wedding ring in trash just raised the bar when it came to the store’s helpfulness. The company has also been testing new store devices and they will search for merchandise that is out of stock as well as complete credit card transactions so many customers will not have to wait in the queues. The company has 211 outlets in America and it ships online orders to thirty countries around the world.

Will it be the most expensive diamond to be sold is the question and one will have to wait till the middle of next month to know for sure. What most people are guessing is that it will be sold for around £24 million. This might seem like a lot of money but one must remember that the Pink Panther is something that will be prized by collectors and the news is that there are a number of them lining up to do the bidding.
So what does the Pink Panther look like for those who haven’t seen pictures of it? It is a rare pink diamond and is one of the most flawless diamonds known to exist. It is 25 carats in weight and Harry Winston, the famous jeweller was the one who designed it. It has come into the market after six decades of being owned by a private, anonymous collector. The ring is made of silver and there are two diamonds flanking this stunning diamond which has its colour classified as ‘fancy intense pink’. Sotheby’s is so excited that it is going to pass through their hands and they are looking forward to the auction with excitement.
To date, the most expensive diamond ring sold was the Wittelsbach diamond for £16.3 million and that was 35 carats in weight. This one looks like it is going to exceed that when it comes to what it will fetch. The auction will be held in Geneva next month.

She went to help out at a fundraiser and came back to find her ring gone. Meagan didn’t think much of it because there had been occasions when she had removed her engagement ring and her wedding ring and put them on the bathroom shelf. It was only when she got back home and realised that they weren’t there that she panicked.
She went back and they looked through everything that was left at the fundraising venue but they didn’t see the rings. Then she decided to advertise the loss. There was no way they could afford to buy another diamond ring so she made do with a gumball machine ring. She just didn’t think she would find it again and that made her sad to think the one precious thing she had was lost forever. Five years had passed since her husband had slipped it into her champagne glass and asked her to marry him.
Then someone called Marjorie saw something shining while she walked across the common and she picked it up, thinking it was a child’s play ring. When she looked closely at it, she realised that it could be real. So she went back home and looked through all the lost ring advertisements and she came across Meagan’s ad. She called and Meagan was overjoyed to have her engagement ring back. What struck her was the fact that someone could find a ring that costs a bit and look to return it. For Marjorie, a grandmother, all that mattered was that the person who lost it should be reunited with it.

Whenever a rough diamond that is huge is unearthed, it causes people who follow diamond news to catch their breaths. So when this rough diamond weighing 196 carats was unearthed in this small mining town in Africa hit the news, there was excitement in the diamond circles.
The diamond is absolutely white and is a real dazzler, spanning 1.18” across and when the company Gem Diamonds put it up for sale, it will no doubt fetch a pretty penny. It will probably be cut up into many diamonds and they will all no doubt be incredible diamonds.
This mining company has been the one to have found other large diamonds as well like the Lesotho Promise which weighed all of 603 carats. The other really large diamonds worthy of mention are the Hope Diamond, the Koh-i-noor Diamond, the Cullinan Diamond and the Cullinan Heritage.

The 6-carat pure white diamond £200,000 ring will be auctioned at the Bonham’s Fine Jewellery auction slated to take place sometime this month. This auction is expected to be an exceptional one and this art deco ring is to be the stunning centrepiece of the show.
This is a Type IIa diamond and is said to be absolutely brilliant and transparent. The diamond weighs 6.82 carats and is an Asscher-cut one and is said to be flawless with a VVS2 clarity. This is one diamond that is all white – no traces of yellow or any other colour – just what traditionally great diamonds are supposed to be.
Also up for bids at this auction will be Henry Philip Hope’s rare catalogue which was published way back in 1839 where his whole collection of diamonds and pearls and other jewellery has been documented. The catalogue also contains details about the Hope Diamond as well as the Hope Pearl.

It almost happened with Jake Gyllenhaal too and the couple was together for two years and everyone was waiting for the engagement to be announced but it didn’t happen. Her close friends say that she is more involved with Jim than she had been with Jake so maybe we will soon be seeing her with an engagement ring on.
Reese has two children by her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe and she shot into fame with her stellar role in Walk the Line. Now she and Jim, who is a Hollywood agent look all set to walk down the aisle together. But first, the engagement and the engagement ring. We wonder how large the diamond will be!

Matt Katz of Australia didn’t just want any diamond engagement ring. He wanted to put a lot of himself into this token of love so he decided to make his own engagement ring for his girlfriend. It was a painstaking process and not many men can do it – but he had set his heart on doing just that so he learned all about it and went through the different processes to come up with a stunning solitaire diamond ring.
First, he had to bend the band of gold – you need to choose the right tools for this and you need to decide what metal you need – eco-friendly recycled metal is always a great choice. Then you need to decide what stone to use – a diamond is always best, but even here, the choice is huge when it comes to shape, cut and weight. The setting for the diamond is vital and needs to be strong so the diamond won’t easily slip out of it. The setting and the ring have to be soldered well together so it seems seamless. Then, it’s time to set the stone. Once that is done, you need to polish the engagement ring so it looks its dazzling best.
Well, most men as we said, prefer to take the easy way and go look at a reputed diamond store to choose the engagement ring. The choice is huge, the finish perfect and you know you can go back to them if there is a problem. However, full marks to the DIY man for wanting this to be a personal gift from the heart.

Whatever will men who are going to propose think of next? Mike Perrett from north-west London lost a leg a few years ago and he had saved the bone, making things from that bone using a DIY kit. He was always good with his hands so when he saw a friend wearing a plastic earring he went and made a bone earring from the bone he had. He also made a necklace and cufflinks.
So when it came to one of the most important days of his life, he wondered how he could make it special for his girlfriend Melita and that’s when he got the idea of using some of the bone for an engagement ring. So he worked with a jeweller and the platinum ring has a diamond and – you guessed it – a piece of bone!
Mike lost his leg in India when he was helping out in an orphanage. He was playing volleyball with the children when he fell off a cliff. His leg could not be saved but his shin bone was given to him and he’s kept it as a reminder.
