The Big C And A Wedding Ring

Monday, April 9th, 2012

How often do you hear of someone suffering from cancer and their partner insisting that they get married? Well, that is what has just happened to Danielle from Hamilton. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and this happened just a few months after she began going out with Daniel, who had just come back as a war hero from Iraq. It’s hard for anyone to face that kind of news, especially when you’ve just met the love of your life. But Daniel didn’t listen to what she had to say and went ahead with wedding plans.
He first proposed after she had been through her chemotherapy and was getting better and they had gone off on a holiday to Egypt. He gave her a ring charm and when she joked about it, he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him with a diamond solitaire engagement ring. A few months later, he slipped a wedding ring onto her finger, dressed in his uniform, wearing all his medals.
They went to the Maldives for their honeymoon and Danielle cannot get over how he has stood by her through it all. Daniel got Danielle a puppy when they got back and the new bride just cannot be anything but touched that she has so much love wrapped around her – from her husband and her family and now, her little puppy, Ollie.

The Diamond Ring Find

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

His name is Andrew Diamond and he’s unearthed a rare find all right with his metal detector. He’s been an enthusiast for a while now and it while he was treasure-hunting on a farmer’s field that he came across something that he would never have imagined could be such a treasure. The field had just been harvested and Diamond was going over it to see if he could detect any metal objects when he realised that there was something that was, as he called it, conductive. He began to dig at the spot and a few inches under the ground, he unearthed this ring.
The ring isn’t a diamond ring – it is a ring Diamond found in the field. It is made of silver and has a figure of a woman with an orange stone set in it. It is a full figure of a woman and experts believe that the figure is that of Fortuna, the Roman goddess of good fortune and luck. Well, luck certainly smiled on Diamond when he found that treasure. It has been estimated to be around two thousand years old or at least designed and fashioned between the first and second centuries and it will soon be put on show at the Leeds Museum.
According to British law, any treasure that is over three hundred years old belongs to the country but the finders will be rewarded. In this case, the reward will be split between Diamond and the farmer who owns the field. The estimate of how much the ring is worth will be done by a special committee that will be appointed by the British Museum. Never would Diamond have imagined that while he was pursuing his hobby, he would come by such a valuable find.

Designing A Diamond Ring Online, Step By Step

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

A very ingenious plan and it is being done on Facebook – where else? The competition has just started and it is being run by a well known British jeweller. The whole contest is very 007-ish, especially the video where the jeweller is shown with his dog, turning around in is chair and talking into camera. No, not a cat like in the James Bond movie but it is a parody and the jeweller jokes that he could well win the Oscar for his performance. The contest is very simple – it is an interactive designing and making of a ring with everyone participating having a say in it. It begins with the base design and depending on how many choose, the base will be selected.
The ring could be a diamond ring or a ring with any other stone. It could be made of any metal and the design could be very conservative and classic or it could be bizarre and modern. Whatever the ring turns out to be will be up to the Facebook users who are participating in the contest. The great thing is, everyone who takes part stands a chance to win the ring. Over a few weeks, the ring will slowly come into being and at the end, there will be a lucky draw that decides who gets the ring.
The jeweller in question has also designed the very exclusive Diamond Jubilee Ring which is being sold to retailers across the country now. The diamond ring for the Diamond Jubilee has been made with sixty diamonds to commemorate the sixty years that the Queen has been the monarch. It’s been a long reign and the special diamond ring will be quite in line with the gala events that are being planned to celebrate this milestone.

So That Isn’t Really An Engagement Ring, Miley Cyrus?

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

Miley tweeted a picture of what looked like a huge diamond ring on her finger and obviously everyone thought she and Liam Hemsworth were engaged. Of course, she’s only 19 but she and Liam have been together for a while now and they seem so serious about each other. And how can you blame anyone when it was on the wedding ring finger?
This wasn’t the first time she was wearing that ring. What looked like a diamond engagement ring was also seen on her finger last week at a party that the Boxing legend Muhammad Ali threw. The couple walked down the red carpet at the event together and the ring was very visible. Liam, the Hunger Games star who is 22 and from Australia never said anything, not even to deny it. All Miley said when she tweeted the picture was to talk about how good the manicure was. Was anyone really looking at her fingers when the ring was on?
Well, now, she says that she had had that ring since November and that she has been wearing it. She also categorically denies that she and Liam are engaged. She wonders how on earth people could have thought it was an engagement ring when the stone is a topaz, not a diamond. Of course, the denial didn’t come immediately. The pair seems to have decided to wait and let the buzz go on for a while before doing something about it. All for the publicity, we imagine.

Three Diamond Rings Stolen Before Auction

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

There were three diamond rings that had been put up by the Cullen family in Glasgow and the day before they were supposed to go under the hammer, they were robbed from the auction house premises. However, the theft is in a grey area now as the auction house feels the Cullens should claim insurance and the Cullens feel that it is the responsibility of the auction house. There does not seem to be a precedent in this case so the family just doesn’t know how to proceed.
The three diamond rings were estimated to fetch about £5000. They belong to Kevin Cullen’s mother. They consisted of a platinum and diamond wedding band, a diamond solitaire ring and a 5-diamond ring. Like Kevin says, if he had known that the auction house would not take responsibility for the items left with them, he would never have left them there. The auction house wrote to them a full six weeks after the robbery saying that they should claim the amount from their home insurance policy. As the family was in the process of moving, the mother had cancelled her insurance cover till they had actually moved so they stand to lose all that money.
The auction house had been robbed of three hundred pieces of jewellery and the amount totalled £430,000. The Cullens read about the theft in the newspapers but never thought that they would lose their money, fully believing that the auction house would have insured everything that was in their possession. Unfortunately for them, the reverse of the document they signed had this clause in fine print. If the owners knew what they were signing, would they really leave valuable jewellery in anyone’s possession at their own risk?

All-Diamond Ring

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Imagine a whole ring being fashioned out of a diamond. It would seem like something out of a fairytale but it really is true. The ring has been designed and crafted by Swiss jewellers Shawish Jewellery. Now this beats the huge diamond rings that even Hollywood celebrities sport because, all said and done, their rings are diamonds held by some precious metal which could be gold, yellow gold or platinum. Not this one, though. It’s just diamond, pure diamond all the way around.
This all-diamond ring weighs all of 150 carats and that is so much more than the famous 30 carat diamond ring that Richard Burton gave Elizabeth Taylor. The CEO of Shawish Jeweller’s, Mohammed Shawesh made the ring himself, carving the shape with lasers. Traditional cutting and polishing techniques were also employed and the end result is a ring that takes one’s breath away. It has been patented and the selling price is expected to be in the range of £44 million.
Would anyone have imagined that there would be a ring that was totally made of diamond? Somehow, diamonds for most of us are certain shapes of the precious gemstone that is held together by metal and here is something which is all precious stone and no metal. Will this become a trend with celebrities – something no one else has? It would take a really large rough diamond out of which one can fashion something like this.

The Bachelor Has A Gorgeous Neil Lane Diamond Engagement Ring

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

Neil Lane has been a favourite of celebrities for so many years now and the ring he has designed for the reality US show, The Bachelor, is really something. The show airs once a week in America and each season, one man is lucky enough to be able to choose the woman he wants to marry from many beautiful women. The show’s viewers follow him as he checks out woman after woman to see if they are compatible with him in every way. One season, there was a British bachelor to add to the interest value.
The ring, as we said, is spectacular. It is hand-crafted and is a cushion-cut diamond engagement ring that is set in platinum. It is surrounded by ninety-six round diamonds and the ring is a platinum one with intricate carving. The diamonds weigh 3 carats. It is a ring that any man would love to give his wife-to-be. However, the show rules are very clear – if the couple breaks off the engagement or the marriage, they will have to return the ring to the sponsors.
Neil Lane has become a name to reckon with worldwide when it comes to jewellery, especially diamond rings. From Hollywood celebrities to the rich and famous all over the world, his pieces of jewellery are sought after and admired. He has a new bridal collection going now and there’s little doubt all the celebs from all over will be keeping an eye on it to see what it is like, especially if they intend to walk down the aisle sometime soon.

Is Bobbi Wearing Whitney’s Diamond Ring?

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina has been making news after her mother passed away and not in a very good way. She has been spotted wearing a huge diamond ring on her finger – and on her wedding ring finger at that. Does the nineteen-year old want to tell the world that she is engaged? And if so, is it to Nick Gordon who would then have changed from a brother status to a fiancé status?
It’s a giant square diamond ring that she has on and this is the one that Whitney Houston wore so often. So it looks like she is passing it off as an engagement ring and this is rather tragic as Whitney had it on when she dies. She and Nick are also living in Whitney’s home in Atlanta and considering that Whitney had all but adopted Nick as a son, this seems rather odd to the rest of the family and to her friends. They have been seen walking hand in hand and Bobbi seems to be very happy.
Of course, Nick could just be a rock in her time of need and it could be that she is wearing her mother’s ring for comfort. There very often is another side to any story but right now, the family isn’t talking and they seem to be waiting to see how things will develop before airing their views. Bobby Brown too seems inclined not to comment right now. Whitney’s sudden death was such a huge shock to everyone and they are all trying ways to deal with it.

Family Heirloom Diamond Ring Refuses To Stay Lost

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

People lose things and more often than not, don’t find them and when they do, it seems like a miracle especially when it happens to be a diamond ring. And then, there are other stories like this where a diamond ring that has been in the family for years gets lost, then found again, then lost, then found again and the story goes on. It looks like the ring almost has a homing device that gets it back to its rightful owners no matter what. Now isn’t that amazing!
The heirloom diamond ring was found earlier this month on the sidewalk by a girl walking down the road in New York who saw something shining and bent to pick it up. It was a gold diamond ring in the shape of a horseshoe with three big diamonds and 28 smaller diamonds. So she and her Mum took it to a jewellery store where it was confirmed that the diamonds were real. So the daughter went online and sure enough, there was a posting on Craigslist about a lost diamond ring and there was also a reward offered. When she contacted the person, she perfectly described the ring.
There’s a story behind the ring, said the owner who is of Indian origin. Her grandmother bought the ring in India and said it was for her eldest daughter. However, she lost it in a crowded fairground but was lucky when someone picked it up and gave it back to her. Then her mother, who inherited the ring was buying vegetables at a store when it slipped off and it was the honest shopkeeper who found it and ran after her to return it. Now, it was the present owner’s turn to lose it and find it again.

Antique Engagement Ring Lost And Found

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

They dated in high school and this American couple from Portland was devastated when a couple of weeks ago, Wendyellen’s engagement ring got lost. They were out on a walk in the middle of February when she noticed that the large diamond on her ring was loose so she took it off and her fiancé Bob put it in his pocket, saying he would take it to the jeweller to get it fixed. However, when they looked for it later, they couldn’t find it.
They both love the look and feel of old things so naturally when it came to an engagement ring, Bob chose and antique diamond engagement ring. The diamonds weighed 2 carats and there were three diamonds set in the ring – one large one flanked by two smaller ones. The antique ring must have been over a hundred years old and they both loved it which is why it was so terrible to think they had lost it. They didn’t really hope to find it – after all who would return a ring like this if they found it?
They hired metal detectors and scoured the area when it could have fallen out. This is a couple whose home is furnished with old pictures and old furniture. That’s why they both thought the engagement ring was so perfect. Then, recently, they got a call from the Portland Police Department asking them to send a picture of the ring. They were ecstatic when it turned out that someone had found the ring and turned it in. A volunteer at a festival event had found it in the park where they had been walking and had given it to the organiser who gave it to the police. Now Bob is going to get that diamond fixed and his fiancée says the ring isn’t going to leave her finger.
