In a theft that could well be a movie script, members of a gang of thieves called the Pink Panther, after the famous movie, hid a very expensive diamond ring worth over one million in a pot of face cream and tried to smuggle it out of the country. Very ingenious and maybe thrilling in a movie but in real life, it’s rather sad for the owner of the diamond ring.

The gang of thieves have many members it is claimed, maybe over two hundred and they specialise in robberies in the Balkans, the Gulf and in Asia, Three years ago, they stole a very expensive diamond tiara in Tokyo and made off with it. The gang is known for the speed with which it operates and its creative planning of each theft. They have operated for over ten years and they have done a number of armed robberies as well.

Now, one of the gang members has been arrested in Spain and the Japanese have asked for him to be extradited to Tokyo to stand trial and it looks like the Spanish ministry has agreed.

It appears that Leonardo DiCaprio has been seen looking at rings and you know what that means – or at least, what every fan of his will think. It’s sad to see a spate of thefts in the Surrey area and there seem to be far too many burglaries with things of value being stolen. One of the homes in Farnham saw the theft of a valuable diamond ring, an expensive watch, a video camera and photographic equipment.

The thieves seem to have got in through an open window and they obviously made their way there through the roof. The police believe that a blue Vauxhall Vectra which was seen in the scene of other crimes similar to this could be the vehicle used by the thieves. In some cases, they seem to have used metal bars to open doors and windows and gain access into the homes.

The estimated value of the things stolen is £12,000 and police have warned people to leave their doors and windows securely locked when they are away from home. They would need to double check and it would be wise to not leave their valuables unlocked in an empty house. They would be better off in a safe that is secure and people should also take care to ensure that no newspapers, mail or parcels accumulate on the doorstep. Enlisting a neighbour’s help to remove it everyday would be a wise idea.
