There he was, enjoying a game at the Celtic Manor in Newport when a gust of strong wind took his trolley flying into the deep waters of the lake. Alan who is a financial consultant from Northern Ireland was stunned as he watched his golf with its irons plunge into the icy water and though he managed to fish out his golf bag with some of the irons, many of the irons and the trolley couldn’t be found. As the water was so cold, he couldn’t stand in it for more than a few minutes at a time.

It was when he was taking stock of what he had lost that he realised that he had left the pocket of the golf bag open and in it he had kept his mobile phone, an expensive watch, his GPS device and his wedding ring – they had all disappeared into the water and he was worried that his stomping around might have pushed his wedding ring into the mud. The gamekeepers at the Celtic Manor helped him to look for the items but after two hours, all they were able to retrieve were lots of golf balls that had been hit into the lake. This was when someone decided to call a team of professional divers in from the area.

Alan is celebrating his tenth wedding anniversary in a few months and it was his wedding ring that he was most concerned about. The divers were professional so they went about the search in a very systematic manner and retrieved the water logged watch and, most important, his wedding ring. He says the watch works in spite of the drenching but what he is very happy about is the finding of his wedding ring. For him, everything else could have been replaced but not the wedding ring.

Way back in 1956, Ken Short from Breachy in the Highlands Drove around in an MG TC Sports Car and when he started courting Diana, there were many happy hours of carefree driving they did together in that car. He had the car for six months, then, when he decided to propose to Diana, he sold the car and bought her a diamond engagement ring for around the amount he got for the car.

He was with the army when he bought the car and then the diamond engagement ring. Today, he is 77 and imagine his and his wife’s wonderful surprise when they were presented with a car of the same make and model for their 53rd wedding anniversary! Their two sons, Andrew and Rob decided to get in touch with a car collector and they managed to get the same model as a gift. The collector drove it up to Breachy and then drove Diana in the car to the place where their anniversary lunch had been organised.

Diana had looked after the ring especially well all these years, knowing just how much Ken had sacrificed to get it for her. Now, with this car which is identical to the one they had, they just seem to have gone back to their courtship days. Back then, even after they got engaged, they had to wait for three years before they could think of getting married. After all these years, it looks like their young, carefree days are back.

That’s rather odd for a President’s son, especially when such a lavish wedding was planned. However, the news is out that last year, when Edward got married, though a lot of jewellery had been ordered from certain South African jewellers, there was no money to pay for them after they were ready. Apparently they collected 2 of the 3 rings that were ordered but could not pay for the groom’s wedding ring.

This is what led to him having to borrow a stainless steel ring to stand for a wedding ring from a friend. Maybe they were hoping that they could raise the money to collect the wedding ring that had been ordered but unfortunately, that has not happened. The lavish wedding which was planned by a company in Durban hasn’t been paid for either. This wedding had been televised to viewers across South Africa but the spending has come under scrutiny now.

His fiancée had chosen a classic Mark Gold design for Edward’s wedding ring. It was a puzzle ring studded with diamonds and very unique. For herself, it was an engagement ring with a 2 ½ carat diamond set in white gold and a wedding ring encrusted with diamonds. The jewellery store is being discreet but they have not releases the pieces of jewellery and are not likely to do so without being paid the full amount they are owed. Controversy seems to follow the Zuma family with allegations of money dealings and it looks like this could be a factor in the next elections.

Ian Douglas from Wellington, New Zealand set up his store, The Village Goldsmith three decades ago. Now he has been signed on to supply a range of exclusive engagement rings and wedding rings to two hundred bridal stores all over China. At the end of May, he will go to China to deliver personally the first five wedding rings. These rings will serve as the design for rings that will be manufactured by the Chinese jeweller Hiersun and they will be sold with Douglas getting paid a royalty on every one sold.

Ian Douglas is calling his collection The Inspired Collection and he hopes to sell them to countries like Canada, the US and the UK. The wedding rings and the engagement rings will be fashioned like works of art. What is great about these rings is that their designs are unique and you can’t really get anything else like these.

Last year, the Chinese jewellers approached Douglas at the Hong Kong Jewellery Fair where he had just won an award. The deal with him is that he will supply 15 designs every year to Hiersun and he will be paid a royalty on every ring that is made with that design. According to Douglas, nothing has ever been done on a scale like this. Considering that just 6% of Chinese women own engagement rings and the Chinese market has been opening up in such a big way, the potential seems huge. The prediction for the demand for engagement and wedding rings in the coming year is said to be sizeable.

The couple was spotted in New York in a jeweller’s store and apparently they were looking at wedding rings. So it looks like wedding bells are going to ring very soon for Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. The moment they announced their engagement, everyone wanted to know when they were going to be married. If they are choosing wedding rings, maybe the day is not too far off.

The jeweller in question is in the SoHo area and he is Eli Halili. Justin and Jessica both were seen trying on wedding rings and they also looked at other pieces of jewellery like necklaces and rings with ancient designs. So did they finally pick up or order their wedding rings? No, says a source but they did buy jewellery – two necklaces and a gold ring. Is that a preamble to the wedding rings? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The news is that the wedding date has been set for August and they are planning to get married in Italy. They both seem very relaxed and comfortable with each other and they have been seen around at events a lot, with Jessica showing off her diamond engagement ring. They have been together five years now but at a recent appearance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they still looked very much together and in love. She was in a stunning Prada gown and of course, her fabulous ring was the cynosure of all eyes.

All she did when she visited Ecuador was leave her white diamond engagement ring off and it has spawned so much speculation about whether she is happy with her ring or not. Angelina Jolie isn’t like other women. For one thing, she doesn’t care what people say – it’s what she believes in that matters.

It all began when Angelina Jolie went to Ecuador and had a meeting with the country’s foreign minister. The photographs that were taken showed very clearly that she wasn’t wearing the 10-carat white diamond engagement ring that Brad Pitt had recently slipped onto her finger. Ergo – it was assumed that she didn’t like the ring, her preference for emeralds over diamonds was supposed to be the issue and even a fight between the two was concocted. Considering that Brad Pitt has been with her for seven years and that he worked with the designer for a year to make sure the ring was perfect, we’re guessing she must be more than happy with it.

So that begs the question: why did she leave it off? Angelina Jolie has always been a champion for the poor, the hungry, the unfortunate. For her, wearing a diamond ring and being centre stage in a country that has so many starving people could just have seemed inappropriate. If she did leave it off because of a reason like this, it just shows how sensitive she is to issues like these. Some say that if Angelina Jolie could, she would adopt many more children from third world countries so that they have the chance of a better life. She’s always felt for the children caught in such terrible circumstances and she has gone out of her way to do something whenever she can. So she might just like her emeralds, maybe diamonds aren’t really her gems of choice but her heart seems to be in the right place.

Bryan Johnson, a war hero in the Afghan War and his partner couldn’t even think of a wedding because they knew it would be a long time before they could afford one. That’s when The Daily Record stepped in and played fairy godmother and the couple got married in Forfar at the Guthrie Village Church. The 24-yearl old war hero and his 21-year old bride just couldn’t believe it was all really happening. Their first baby is due in September and what a wonderful dream come true this wedding was!

Last year, Bryan got the Military Cross at Buckingham Palace. It was presented to him by Prince Charles for his bravery in saving a fellow soldier’s life. As soon as he was awarded it, he asked Kirstie to marry him, going down on one knee and the nation watched, touched. The Daily Record wanted this hero to see his dreams come true so they went the whole hog and gave him a wedding to remember. Kirstie had a white wedding gown by Stewart Parvin, the designer who made Zara Phillips’ dress and the couple had the best hairdressers and the best caterers to celebrate the event. Their 18 carat gold wedding rings were from Glasgow’s jewellers, Laings.

The reception was held at Guthrie Castle with Edinburgh’s Pinkerton’s Cooks and Caterers providing the wedding breakfast which was a 3-course scrumptious meal. They have left for a honeymoon at Rhodes and after they are back, there will be a special ceremony to induct Bryan into the Daily Record’s Forces Hero category and he will be presented with an Our Heroes award.

From the 1st of May till the 12th of May, an Australian company, the Pacific Motor Group is conducting a contest where a winner can win a diamond ring. All the contestants have to do is to go to their website, fill in their forms and test drive a new or used car. Depending on whether they test drive or buy a car, they get that many contest forms to fill in so it increases their chances of winning. Obviously, if you were to buy a car, you get many more contest forms.

The ring is designed by Gloss Diamonds and it is a ¾ carat stunning white gold diamond ring. The Karis ring is a great design with the brilliant centre cut diamond surrounded by a grain set halo around it. This is such a perfect Mother’s Day ring because it has a vintage quality and yet is modern. So the winner has a great gift for Mother’s Day and who wouldn’t like to present their mother with a dazzling gift like this? A gift that is valued at nearly £3000? The winner is going to be really lucky!

This contest really is a great incentive for those who are thinking about buying a car and the prospect of winning a diamond ring especially for Mother’s Day is sure to spur a lot of Australian people to enter the contest. There have been a lot of entrants and the company expects more now that the contest is drawing to a close. The last date is the 12th and the results will be announced on that day, judged by a carefully chosen panel of judges. There’s going to be one lucky son or daughter and one very happy mother that day.

Why would Robert Procop sue Perez Hilton the blogger and more importantly, what brought these allegations of fraud on from her side? Last month, the celebrity blogger wrote about how Procop had cheated a client and how a judgement had been handed down to him to pay an enormous amount by way of a fine.
Robert Procop and his jewellery design company have been in the news because of the huge diamond engagement ring he made for Angelina Jolie. Apparently he and Brad Pitt designed it over a year till it was perfect. The power couple met during the filming of Mr and Mrs Smith and have been together for seven years during which they have six children – three of who are adopted. There has been speculation for a long time about whether they would get married or not but it looks like they have finally given in to their children’s wishes and have decided to tie the knot.
The supposed charge against Procop is that he was asked to design a diamond necklace which weighed over 25 carats and what the person got was a necklace that weighed a bit over 17 carats. The blogger who digs out dirt of the rich and famous claimed that Procop had to pay huge damages but Procop has filed a suit against him saying that piece of news is false. However, something like this can be very damaging to his reputation, feels Procop which is what prompted him to file the case. Perez Hilton, however, refused to take down the posting.

There are jewellers who are expanding the scope of women’s wedding rings. Like men, now women too have a choice besides gold and platinum and there seem to be some women who prefer a darker and more masculine metal when it comes to wedding bands. With so many designs and choices being offered by jewellers, especially those online, it looks like women are going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to jewellery.
There are two reasons why women would go beyond the conventional gold wedding rings. One, they could be younger and more adventurous, preferring a metal that is not traditional. Two, the price – titanium and tungsten are cheaper than gold. They are also longer lasting so this could be a third factor though people usually don’t think about this when they are choosing a wedding ring. They usually take it for granted that any metal they choose will last a lifetime. Anything new or unique or unusual seems to be what attracts people today and if that’s the case, there will be a section of the population who prefer to break the rules of convention and start their own trend.
While gold – both yellow and white as well as platinum will always be favourites, it looks like these other metals could offer certain advantages. The metals are strong yet light and durable and they are hypoallergenic – a very strong advantage if women tend to have reactions when metal is worn against the skin for too long. There’s a new range of handcrafted alternative metal rings available now. Titanium, especially, is making waves and women are getting fascinated by its appeal.
