Favourite Wedding Months

April 12th, 2008

Most people are familiar with the phrase, “June bride” and assume that is the favourite month during which to hold a wedding. That may have been true in the past, but the modern bride is now choosing the month of August as a favourite. Hallmark is claiming that over the past three years, the dog days of August are said to be most popular, with the month of June coming in a close second. July finds itself at number 3 on the list.

The modern bride doesn’t feel obligated by wedding etiquette that her mother and grandmother followed. She is free to choose any month of the year that is most convenient for her and her prospective groom.

June is a tough month to book a wedding unless you do it far in advance and it seems now that August will be harder too. Often when looking to book your wedding ceremony and reception, cost is a large factor in the decision. If you book your wedding in one of the off months you are more likely to get a better price and have your pick of days.

Pledge Your Vows in Autumn

A lovely time of year for a wedding is in the cool, crisp months of autumn. September and October follow July as favourite wedding months in which to be married. The weather is still warm, yet with enough of a nip to keep even the hottest bride cool. Themes can range from a traditional autumn colour scheme of yellow, brown orange and red to a modern autumn twist of chocolate brown accented by baby blue.

November ranks at number 8 for favourite wedding months and a great theme would be one of harvest.

Spring – a Time of Rebirth

Next are the months of May and April with their ranking at numbers 6 and 7 respectively. Spring is a romantic time of year to be married as the flowers are in bloom and everyone is feeling renewed after a long, cold winter. There are so many themes the spring bride can choose for her wedding – each lovelier than the next. Early spring month March is not as popular as it comes in at number 10. This is probably due to the unpredictability of the weather.

Winter Romance

December finds itself at number 9 for popular wedding months. At the end of the list are the first two months of the year. Brides will find excellent deals when they decide to be married in these months. Themes can range from seasonal holiday décor to a wedding that has an ice theme complete with ice sculptures.

No matter when you decide to be married, the most important thing is that the couple be happy and in love. Only you can decide the best month to married, so choose wisely and enjoy a wonderful future together.
