Choosing Wedding Bands For Forever, Not For Just One Day

‘Till death us do part’ is rather a long time for most couples. Now if you intend keeping that part of the wedding vow, think about it – that’s how long you’ll be wearing your wedding band. For most couples, especially the delirious bride, anything other than the wedding day is slightly out of focus and usually tinged with a rosy hue. In all that walking on air and sunshine, it might be worthwhile taking a few moments to pay attention to the one thing that’s going to stay with you both long after the merriment of the wedding party is done – your wedding bands.

So, what should a ring be like if it has to last long? Till recently, there was no question of choice. Everyone you knew had a gold wedding band and everyone else followed suit. Today, however, it’s a whole different story. Gold is not taken for granted to be the material of choice for wedding bands. Sure, if you like to follow the old set traditions, gold will always gleam and remain a precious metal.

The choice today however, extends to platinum as well. Platinum wedding bands are growing in popularity, in no small measure thanks to the fact that its white lustre sets off the brilliance of diamonds. So if you were to match your diamond engagement ring set in platinum with your wedding ring, it makes an elegant pair. This is a durable metal which ensures that your diamond settings are secure.

Then of course, you have titanium, the new age jeweller’s metal. Very durable, does not lose its gleam, looks as new as the day you got married even after years. It’s a great metal for wedding bands for both him and her.

So think about it – don’t just go pick up a couple of wedding bands in a hurry to make sure you have them in order to get married. They are not a one-day affair. They are going to stay on your finger for a long time – so they need a bit of thought. You have a choice of metals today – you also have a choice of whether you want to set diamonds into those wedding bands. If you do want that, choose a design that will not cut into your skin or be uncomfortable. You need to feel comfortable wearing your wedding band so take your time choosing it – choose with great care and you won’t be sorry.
