Theft of £100,000 Diamond Ring

Monday, October 10th, 2011

A few days ago, King’s Lynn Jewellers lost a diamond ring worth £100,000 and the thief is yet to be caught. It happened at their Norfolk Street store and before the salespeople knew what was happening, he had snatched the expensive diamond ring and fled. This isn’t the first time that the theft of expensive diamond rings have occurred and it is obviously a well planned and executed operation because the thieves who are well dressed. Come in ostensibly to look at rings and then make off with the most expensive ones.

The diamond ring is set in white gold and it is a Picchioti design and white baguette diamonds surround a huge emerald cut diamond in the centre. He seemed like a genuine buyer which was why the sales assistant helped him to look through the kind of rings he wanted to see. Word has been sent out to all the pawnbrokers giving them details about the ring so that in case the man tries to pawn it, the police can be informed.

The man has been described as being in the age of between 40 and 45 with brown hair that was cropped short and a receding hairline. He was around six feet tall, maybe a couple of inches shorter and of heavy build. His spectacles were rectangular in shape and they were silver rimmed. His shirt was pale blue in colour with fine stripes. He was driving Ford Fiesta 3-door new car, black in colour and the police are trying to trace the car. Anyone who knows anything about this theft has been asked to contact the police.

Facebook Engagement Ring Contest

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

It’s a simple enough contest. There are two diamond engagement rings and you need to vote for the one you like. And when you do so, you automatically get entered into the contest and you could just win one of those rings. A simple Yes is all it takes to maybe win a beautiful ring. The two rings are names ‘Elena’ and ‘Magnolia’ and they both typify very elaborate engagement ring settings.

The contest has a red corner and a blue corner. In the red corner is Magnolia, a diamond engagement ring set in white gold. The design is a Hearts and Arrows one and weighs .6 carat. This ring has been named after the magnolia flower and it looks majestic and bold. The Elena on the other hand which is in the blue corner is an intricate design, also in white gold. Weighing .5 carat, this diamond engagement ring has been named this because the translation from Greek means ‘splendour of the sun’.

The contest has been designed as a kind of a run-up to next year’s American Presidential election. This is the diamond company’s own little election and he wants to see how much of a democratic process there will be in the voting for the winner of these rings. The results will be announced on the 15th of this month and the winner will be selected from among the ones who voted for the winning ring.

Father’s Wedding Ring Goes Into Wedding Band

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

It feels great when you can design your own wedding ring and it’s even better when it has gold in your wedding band which has sentimental value. Bass guitarist of the band KISS, Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed-Simmons got married a few days ago. Inside his ring were two strands of gold from her father’s ring which stood for their two children. She lost her father when she was 24 and this was one way of ensuring that he was there with them at the wedding.

They have been a couple for 28 years and they finally decided to get married. Or rather, Gene Simmons finally did. Now he looks at his wedding band and he wonders just why he was so worried about it or afraid of it. The couple had the wedding rings engraved with special love messages. What everyone was stunned by was the bride’s engagement ring which was a Goel Talasazan design and with a 27-carat diamond.

They wrote the vows themselves and read it out in front of their four hundred guests. Shannon also admitted that while she waited till very close to the wedding to choose a wedding gown, she had already picked out her shoes ten years ago. The Priscilla of Boston dress and the shoes were a perfect match. Those shoes were by Rene Caovilla and she knew as soon as she saw them that they were the ones she would wear at her wedding. The wedding was a beautiful affair at a Beverly Hills hotel and though it has been a long time coming, it looks like the couple are really happy to have taken the plunge.

Over £2000 Spent On Engagement Rings

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

A study has thrown up some amazing insights. There are four counties in the country where men spend over £2000 on engagement rings. In fact, the average amount spent in one county was £2535 on one ring. This average was computed by using the sales over one whole year and trying to see where most of the spending was coming from. The study clearly threw up four counties where men went all out to spend a lot on the engagement ring they chose to propose to the women in their lives.
The four counties are West Glamorgan, Glasgow, West Lothian and Angus. If one were to look at an average, most British men spent over £1500 for an engagement ring. This augurs well for the diamond ring industry and obviously, diamonds are still the most popular gemstones for an engagement ring. It also shows that no matter what financial problems people might have, when it comes to an engagement ring, as far as possible, there will be no scrimping and saving.
The metal that is most popular is yellow gold and one out of two engagement rings seems to be made of this. Coming up next was platinum followed by yellow metal. There are certain counties that are still traditional in their tastes and will only look at yellow gold. However, the rest of the country seems to be more modern in their taste and they seem to prefer the white look to the yellow. London seemed to have a platinum preference. What also emerged is that more and more people are buying their jewellery online finding it a lot more convenient and efficient.

Study Shows Up Preferences For Wedding Ring Metal

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

What is the most popular metal for wedding rings? A survey that was done by a store recently had some very interesting findings that popped up. Apparently, Greater Manchester people prefer white gold while people in London prefer platinum. And in Cambridge, the most popular metal is yellow gold. The study shows that from an overview, it looks like the most popular metal in the UK is white gold while coming second is platinum and then yellow gold.
For those who feel that platinum is the ruling metal today for engagement rings and wedding rings, this might come as a bit of an eye-opener. When did white gold creep into first place? And does the place you are from really have so much to do with the metal you pick? Looks that way from the survey. Considering that for years, yellow gold was a given for wedding rings, maybe the time had come for a move away for it. However, maybe tradition does play a big part so while people might move away, they still want it to be gold when it comes to wedding rings. Whatever the reason, this seems to be the trend today.
Wedding rings are so important because it means rings for both the man and his bride. While the engagement ring is all about the woman, wedding rings have something that say ‘couple’ about them. The trend today is to have matching wedding rings whenever possible and when it means wedding rings for both the man and the woman, maybe white gold makes perfect sense. The tradition of gold and yet it looks different – something that both men and women could be comfortable in.

Thailand Becoming A Wedding Ring Destination

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Today, if a couple were to book flights to Thailand, it could well be that they are planning to get married there. Suddenly, it has grown to become quite a favourite wedding destination and tour operators are doing everything they can to make couples’ trips as enjoyable as they can. There are other places as well that couples like to go to where they can get married and these include Australia and Mauritius.
Why would couples want to go all the way across the globe to get married? Sure, a place like Thailand is exotic and romantic but could there be any other reason as well? One reason, according to a wedding planner is that a wedding like this could mean not having to plan a huge wedding party. It would be just the couple and most tour operators would take care of all the arrangements. So it would not be a tiring time planning for the event and having to cater to so many friends and family members.
Maybe the reason why Thailand tops the list is because it has the most wonderful variety of gold and gems available. So it means that a couple can get to choose from a wide array and pick just the wedding rings they want. And what could be better than flying off to one destination to have both the wedding ceremony as well as the honeymoon right there? For those who don’t really want all the fuss of a large wedding but want to just be by themselves, this really is a great way to go off and get married.

Recycling An Engagement Ring

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Or a wedding ring, or any ring for that matter. With the price of gold having shot up so much, more and more people are thinking of recycling the rings that they have in their possession – wedding rings, engagement rings or diamond rings they may have inherited. Of course, some people prefer to just sell the gold and buy new gold or exchange what they have for another ring of the same value. However, the trend today is seeing more and more people taking what they have and having them made into new jewellery for themselves.
The thing is, gold is never, ever thrown away – unless of course it was buried with royalty like the Egyptians or lost – at sea, in rivers, in soil. Otherwise, all the gold mined is passed down and recycled from generation to generation. So imagine – you could well be wearing gold that was mined in the time of ancient civilisations. And yet, except for the few who could afford to keep buying more gold and keep the old jewellery till they became heirlooms, most people recycled and upgraded their jewellery by making them into more modern designs.
The great thing about recycling old jewellery is that you don’t feel the pinch of how high priced most precious metals and gems are. It also means that you get yourself a piece of jewellery that is contemporary and looks new. Very few people want to wear someone else’s engagement ring or wedding ring so this is a great way to wear something new and yet not pay the earth for it. This could even work if you don’t really like your engagement or wedding ring because they are old fashioned or they look worn out. With the same metal and gem stone, you can make a new improved piece of jewellery, feeling that you are still wearing the same thing in a new avatar.

Engagement Ring Recovered From Moat

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

A woman in the USA who dropped her engagement ring into a moat was lucky to get it back and she is so thrilled about it. It happened at the Amazon’s Edge section of the Santa Ana Zoo in California and when Sheila of Denver visited the zoo with her three year old daughter, her engagement ring fell off and disappeared into the water in the moat and she thought to herself that it was the last she had seen of the ring.
Sheila had her wedding and her engagement rings on and she was fiddling with them as they were walking around when they suddenly slipped off. She just about managed to hold onto the wedding ring but the engagement ring went flying into the moat and she watched as it disappeared into the water. When she went to the director of the zoo, he told her that there was almost no chance of finding the ring.
It was lucky for her that the moat was being drained that week and when that happened, the director himself went into the moat, rubber boots and all to see if there was any trace of the ring. Imagine his surprise when he saw something gold glinting in the mud and he was so excited, he screamed out that they had found the ring. Sheila picked up the recovered engagement ring from his office when she was on the way to the beach and all he had to tell her was to go leave her ring at home before she went there.

Vera Wang To Launch Engagement Ring And Wedding Ring Line

Friday, August 12th, 2011

The jewellery store Zales and Vera Wang are joining hands to launch a wedding line in jewellery and these will feature engagement rings as well as wedding rings. Vera Wang who specialises in wedding dresses and has a global presence, has celebrities falling all over themselves to order her wedding dresses. So what could be better than to get into engagement and wedding jewellery as well? It’s such a natural progression for the famous designer.
The new line is going to be called Vera Lang Love and it is going to showcase fifty styles. They will all be rings made of 14 carat gold and will be set with diamonds of various cuts and sizes and will also have a small blue sapphire which symbolises eternal love. The venture seems to be a really great union – both seem to complement each other. Wang is also ready with a new bridesmaid’s line and they will all work together as a total package.
Vera Wang has been on the lookout for a partner for engagement rings and wedding rings for quite a while now. It looked like a few deals were going through but somehow, there hasn’t been such a great fit like the one now with Zales and it looks like everyone is happy. Rosie Tupper will continue to be the face for the Vera Wang line and the advertisements will appear in the November issues of the magazines. And the best news is, the line is an affordable line.

Wedding Ring On Kate Bosworth’s Finger?

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

That’s the latest news – that Kate Bosworth is wearing a gold wedding ring and that’s not all – she was spotted with a mystery man who was also wearing one. There was an older lady with them as well – could it be his mother? The trio were spotted in Hollywood at the Chateau Marmont and sources say that the gold rings on their fingers were matched so it could well be matching wedding rings.
Kate Bosworth has been linked to a number of handsome hunks, the latest was her long time partner, Alexander Skarsgard. They acted together in Straw Dogs and though they have been together for a while, they never really made their relationship public. It could be something to do with how high profile and public her romance with Orlando Bloom was and she is a very private person and obviously does not like being so much in the public glare of things. However, a few days ago, news leaked out that it was all over between them.
At the restaurant, she and her mystery man were very affectionate to each other but she made sure that when they left the restaurant, they were not photographed together. The Superman star was, however, quite demonstrative inside the restaurant. She made a name for herself as a young actress in The Horse Whisperer and after that, there’s been no looking back. She’s also a model and she has a jewellery line together with a friend.

Kim Woodburn Loves Wearing Diamond Rings And Jewellery

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

She admits that she loves wearing expensive jewellery – and she wears it all the time. The How Clean Is Your House presenter does not allow her rather sad and difficult past to stop her from spending and enjoying herself. She might have had a troubled and abusive childhood and been hard up for much of her early life but she says that she has turned out not to be extra cautious and she likes to think that she is a very generous person.

Of course, she is best known for her How Clean Is Your House series but she also went on to act in the Canadian TV series called Kim’s Rude Awakenings. While she feels that the money that has come her way thanks to being a celebrity is welcome, she also feels very strongly that health is, above all, what is the most important thing a person can have. Though she is 67, it was only after 2003 that her fortunes started on an upward curve but she is also grounded and feels that while money is necessary, it can’t be something that guarantees happiness.

She went through a recent interview wearing a diamond and gold bracelet that was worth £5000, a diamond ring that also cost the same amount and a diamond ring worth £4000 on the other hand. However, this does not mean that she is a spendthrift and she is careful with her money even though she does spend money on things she likes. Like the house she bought in Oxted a few years ago, making up her mind immediately. She sold that and bought another and somehow she has been lucky to make more money than she invested. She is married to an ex-policeman named Peter.
