World Premiere And New Engagement Ring

Sunday, December 18th, 2011

The much-awaited film version of Stieg Larsson’s famous book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is finally here and at the world premiere, 22-year old Peaches Geldof was seen flaunting her engagement ring. She and Thomas Cohen have been together for a while but they kept their romance secret for some time now. Apparently, they got engaged six months ago but it is only now that she seems to want to show off the ring.
They could not have declared it more openly. The couple were very visible on the red carpet so was her engagement ring. It looked like they just loved posing for the cameras that were flashing away, catching them cuddling and kissing. However, unlike her previous marriage where she got married within a few weeks of having met the guy, this time around, she seems to want to wait. She has been telling reporters that it could be years before they got married because she loves being engaged and she wants to wait to get married.
She’s had a pretty hectic life though she is so young. She’s been a writer, a model, a TV producer and she’s even dabbled in Scientology. Thomas Cohen is the lead singer of the band S.C.U.M., a punk art rock band from South East London./ Some call him a pretentious rocker but they do have a positive rating among a loyal group.

JLo To Sell 8.5 Carat Engagement Ring

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

Jennifer Lopez plans to sell ever piece of jewellery that her husband Marc Antony gave her after the marriage turned sour and they went their separate ways. Just the engagement ring is well worth millions and she also plans to sell her wedding ring and a lot of other expensive jewellery gifts and move on to a new life without him.
They have been separated for a few months now, so why this sudden decision to sell all the jewellery? Apparently Marc Antony objected to their children being driven around by her new flame and this seems to have been the flashpoint for her. Her new young lover seems to have a very bad record when it comes to driving so Marc is justifiably worried and angry. However, Jennifer Lopez did not take kindly to him telling her what to do and therefore this hurried decision to sell. Just to show him that she wants nothing more to do with him, obviously.
The only pieces of jewellery she will keep are his gifts to the children, the twins, Mark and Emme. And move on, she will because JLo is known never to stay tied to the past. She just cuts those strings that bind her and she moves on to a new life without the person she was bound to. Like her other partners, this one too is history as far as she is concerned.

Liz’s 33-Carat Diamond Ring Sold To E-Land

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

E-Land bought the famous diamond ring that Richard Burton gave Liz Taylor and the ring will have pride of place in their theme park, E-World at Daegu, Korea. Elizabeth Taylor passed away in March 2011 and Christie’s put her jewellery up for auction in New York on Tuesday. They have already collected a record amount for this single collection – the auction goes on till Saturday.
They were one of the world’s most talked about lovers and they probably joined the great lovers of history when it came to romance. Richard Burton was Elizabeth Taylor’s husband twice and he gave her this stunning ring in 1968. This 33-carat diamond ring, called the Krupp’s diamond, was given to her by Richard Burton just because it was a Tuesday. There’s a story about her other famous diamond too. It was her fortieth birthday and he said he wanted to buy her the Taj Mahal, a wonder built for love but, he joked, it would cost him too much to transport it home. So he bought her a diamond named the Taj Mahal instead, a diamond that was mined, cut and polished in India. It had once belonged to Mumtaz Mahal, a gift for her husband Shah Jehan who built the Taj Mahal and Burton bought it from Cartier’s and had it set as a pendant. And so an era has passed and Liz Taylor’s diamond rings and other jewellery have passed into new hands but the romance will always be alive in the diamonds.
This collection beat the Duchess of Windsor’s collection auction in 1987 by well over double the amount collected. The best pieces were all sold and it was a very satisfying day for Christie’s. There were her famous pearls which were also sold as was the wig she wore in Cleopatra. It was, to say the least, an extravagant auction.

Gold Wedding Ring And Engagement Ring Found In Salvation Army Christmas Kettle

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

The Salvation Army had left their red kettles out for the Christmas charity collections. In a town in North Carolina, America, the people who were counting the collection at the end of the day got a surprise. In the kettle with all the coins and notes were a gold wedding ring and an engagement ring. Now who on earth would put in two precious possession into a charity kettle? Or was it a mistake?
Apparently, it was put in knowingly because the two rings were wrapped in a one dollar bill and there was an appraiser’s note stating their value. The gold wedding ring was a 14-carat piece and both the rings were put into a kettle that had been kept near a marketplace.
As there was an appraiser’s notice, the Salvation Army staff called the appraiser and was surprised to know that he had retired fifteen years ago. So the appraisal must have been done a long time ago and it looks like the person who donated the rings wants to stay anonymous. The Salvation Army will honour that and they are going to auction the rings and use the proceeds for charity. Whatever the story is behind those two rings will remain a secret.

Wedding Ring For All Blacks Star?

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Dan Carter, star of the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team seems to have got married in a very private ceremony. He and Honor Dillon are supposed to have been married in an undisclosed location. One wonders why the secrecy, especially when a solicitor warned people that if they did try and get in, it would be termed trespassing. When that solicitor happens to be connected to the Australian Women’s Weekly, it gets curiouser and curiouser.

The wedding was supposed to have taken place at Blenheim at the super luxurious Lake Timara Lodge and a whole lot of rugby stars were supposed to be there. The magazine in question is rumoured to have paid a huge sum to get exclusive rights to the wedding pictures and the story so little wonder that they wanted to keep the location and the proceedings a secret. One enterprising reporter said he saw three bus loads of guests being deposited at the place and though the buses had tinted windows, he managed to get a glimpse of some of the rugby stars.

The roads to the lodge had been closed on that day and someone said that they saw the team’s coach pick up something from a jewellery store in town. Could it be possible that he could be picking up a wedding ring? The lodge was built in the 1920s and it is set away from the town so it affords a lot of privacy. City florists were booked for the day too and were busy with orders. One wonders when the wedding pictures will make a splash.

Exchanging Wedding Rings At The Paignton And Torquay Zoos

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

With wedding ceremonies taking place in the most way out and exotic locales, why not nearer home, at the zoo? The Paignton Zoo and the Torquay Zoo in Devon offer you a wonderful option as a place to get married in. These two wildlife charities have now been given wedding licences so you can arrange to have your ceremony there or have a wedding party later.

The zoos are equipped to cater for parties for weddings, engagements, naming ceremonies and any celebrations. Now that the zoos have been granted licences to conduct weddings, it means you can get married there as well – and you can choose what kind of a ceremony you would like to have while you exchange your wedding rings. The money collected goes towards their plant and animal conservation charities so that’s a great way to start off your married life.

You can also choose where you would like to have your wedding and your reception. There are unique locales in both the zoos – so you can choose to have it in a room with a panoramic view of the bay, or you can have it in a lion or tiger viewing platform or at any of their restaurants. You could also have your pictures taken with some of the zoo inmates – pictures with the penguins seem to be the favourite. Or, you could choose other animals to feature in your wedding album. The unique idea has many takers and there are a lot of bookings already.

Online Diamond Ring Sales Go Up

Friday, December 9th, 2011

A few years ago, one would never have thought that people would buy diamond rings online. Most people needed to see, feel, touch, try on and then buy. However, there seems to be a marked change in recent times about the way people buy things – and this seems to have rubbed off on diamonds too. More diamonds are being sold now online and people don’t mind sitting in the comfort of their home and choosing which diamond they want.

For one thing, many more people around the world can afford diamonds now and even if they cannot buy a diamond that weighs and looks like the celebs’ diamond engagement rings do, they know that they can get a diamond that is within their budget. Not just that, they can sit back and have it designed online as well. Suddenly, buying diamonds have just become so much easier.

Recently, an online diamond jeweller launched a site in Turkey, little knowing whether or not the venture would be a success. Their diamond jewellery was only available online and they were very surprised at the number of e-shoppers their site attracted. The success of their site, they felt, was the fact that they had a wide range of diamond jewellery and a lot of it was affordable. They even had a very small diamond solitaire so people could have the satisfaction of being able to afford a classic diamond engagement ring. The huge demand for this ring made their site go down for a while! The great thing was that they got orders from remote villages too. Suddenly, they had made diamonds not just affordable but accessible to so many. Their customers range from students to many in the middle income and even the high income groups.

American Diamond Company Offers To Buy Wedding Rings

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Whether it is Kim Kardashian’s wedding ring or Demi Moore’s, an American company has offered to buy celebrity wedding rings once the marriage is over. After all, what do you do with a wedding ring when you are divorced? You can’t wear it and if you try and get it redesigned, everyone’s going to know. So probably the best thing to do is to sell it and why not cash in on something you can’t wear anymore?

Look at Kim Kardashian – just seventy two days and the marriage was over. Demi Moore’s was a lot longer than that but come to an end it did. So here’s a way out of keeping that wedding ring locked up somewhere with all the memories. You can sell it and move on. The store gives you the best price after experts assess the ring and then give you an estimate. For the person, it’s the end of one phase of their lives and the time for new beginnings.

The company has been in the business of buying old wedding rings for over seven decades in New York and they have set up an easy and safe way to sell old wedding rings. Their store front isn’t flashy but discreet and they arrange to give you the money through a bank transfer or a cheque. So this is a great way to sell an old family wedding ring or a wedding ring after a partner has passed on or of course, a wedding ring after the divorce. Considering that the divorce rate in America is going up and up they are probably going to be in business for a long, long time.

Wedding Ring Stolen From Church

Monday, December 5th, 2011

How nasty could thieves get? A couple in Washington in the US was going through the wedding rehearsal when a thief crept into the room where they had kept their things and made off with them. This included the bridegroom’s wedding ring. It was a sad shock indeed for the couple and their families to find a happy occasion like this marred by theft – and that too in a church.

When they were going through the rehearsal, the Parkers had left their things – her family heirloom jewellery, her shoes, wedding dress and his wedding ring in the dressing room. The thief got in and stole it all – except for the wedding dress. They were all devastated but the couple decided to look on the bright side of things and they feel that finally, it is their wedding that it most important and the rest is just things. Be that as it may, it is quite traumatic to have something like this happen just before the wedding which is such a happy occasion. The couple also managed to buy whatever they needed for the wedding.

The thief was captured on the surveillance camera and it is a woman, dressed all in black with her hair tied in a pony tail. She is small made and what was even worse is that she got their ATM cards as well and drew out money from their accounts before their cards were blocked. She was seen lurking in the church corridor and she was obviously waiting to steal from some unwary people. The police are carrying out an investigation and the couple hopes that someone will identify her and that they will get their things back.
