Dreaming Of A Wedding Ring

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Frankie Sandford knows people call her a WAG and she feels that it might sound like a derogatory term but the fact of the matter is, she and Wayne Bridge are together. She’s young – just 22 – and she feels that she has a long way to go before she can think of marriage or even children. However, she would like to be married to Wayne and according to her, her family is very fond of him too and they love the idea of them getting married.
Frankie also has something else to say about Wayne – that he is a hopeless romantic and he never stops doing little romantic things for her. The Manchester City footballer does some really romantic things. Like this one time when they had to travel to Cannes in a hurry and he asked the store whether they would open specially for them at night. And they did their shopping in an empty store and got what they wanted. Frankie says it made her feel like a princess and they were sipping champagne as they shopped.
The Saturdays have had their single climb to No. 1 on the charts and maybe she hopes that her relationship with Wayne will be a success like All Fired Up. They’ve both been linked with other people but for Frankie now, it’s serious and she would love to wear a wedding ring from him. She must know it’s tough to be a footballer’s girlfriend but she’s high profile too so maybe she understands his life better than most people do.

Will Engagement Rings Now Come From Outer Space?

Monday, September 5th, 2011

It was once a huge star and now it has become a small planet – and guess what it is made of? It seems to be a dense material and in all likelihood, it is pure diamond. There it is, tucked among the stars of the Milky Way – imagine just how many diamond rings could be made with a planet like that. It might just start a diamond rush – only this time it will be an intergalactic one with spaceships hurtling through space to claim areas on the planet where they can excavate.
How did astronomers chance upon this unusual and unique planet? A team headed by Professor Matthew Bailes from Melbourne, Australia was the first to spot it. This international team at the Swinburne University of Technology realised that there was a dense planet going around the pulsar identified as PSR J1719-1438. It happened when they were routinely going through huge masses of data from research companies around the world and this had to be among the largest research studies that have been done.
This research means collating and sifting through data collected by telescopes and tracking equipment all over the world. It was while they were looking for pulsars that they discovered this planet that they knew just had to be crystalline – it was so much denser than the rest. Of course, this team just needs to supervise and look for interesting and abnormal phenomena because there are so many supercomputers that do everything for them when it comes to looking through information. Panning for gold seems to have gone beyond our planet to panning the space and what a wonderful find this is!

Looking For An Antique Diamond Ring Owner

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

A truck driver in British Columbia, Canada was poking around some drainage sludge when he noticed something shining – and he realised that it was a diamond ring. It was beautiful – three good sized diamonds set in platinum and when he cleaned it up, he could see that there was an inscription inside. The date on the diamond ring said March 1939 and there were six initials – obviously the initials of the couple. He wouldn’t have been human if he didn’t feel tempted to go sell it at the nearest pawn shop but he didn’t do that because he felt it would be much more rewarding to find the rightful owner. He knew that the diamond ring could well become someone’s heirloom because it belonged to their family.
First, he went with the ring to a reputed jewellery shop to make sure that they were diamonds indeed. Once he did that, he is now looking for the rightful owners and the city is helping him do just that. For most people, once a ring goes down a sewer, they feel that’s the end of it and they don’t really follow up on the loss like they would if a ring were stolen. The actual owners could well be dead now and maybe their children don’t know about the ring. Yes, the information is very limited but the man feels that with people’s help, they will find out who those initials and the diamond ring belonged to. A lady who works in an auction house there says the diamond weight of the ring is 1.5 carats.
This isn’t the truck driver’s first find. He has been poking around Victoria’s drains and he has found old coins from the eighteenth century and some rings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He was able to identify them because of the hallmarks on them. His great find two years ago was a medal from World War I and he was able to locate the owner and return it. It’s amazing what secrets even drains can hold.

Brits Still Romantic When It Comes To Dating And Engagement Rings

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

There was a recent survey which has thrown up quite a few interesting findings about British men. It appears that British men are still very romantic and they do not allow their finances to dictate their romantic notions. This specially manifests itself in the amount that a Brit guy is prepared to pay for an engagement ring – after all, this is the ultimate token of love, isn’t it?
So when a sample group was asked about how much they were prepared to pay for a diamond engagement ring, 4 out of 5 felt that you couldn’t really put a price on something that was a symbol of love. Some felt that it should be at least worth two months of their salary while some said they would pay £500 for an engagement ring. And if an engagement led to a wedding, most of them felt that it wouldn’t be fair to ask the bride’s family to pay for the wedding – that it should be shared by both sides.
There’s more – they also felt that it was great to spend a bit of money to look good on the first date and while the affair was progressing, they felt they should spend on expensive meals as well as flowers and jewellery. Some even spent on romantic holidays. In fact, many of the men were overdrawn because they wanted to make a great impression on that special girl. So while it does get expensive to fall in love, it feels good to know that British men are still romantic.

Are Diamond Rings And Wealth The New Religion In Nigeria?

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Church services have come a long, long way in most places in Nigeria. No longer are they small little whitewashed buildings with poor pastors and very poor parishioners singing faithfully from old hymn books. Today, the pastors are more often than not, millionaires, Bible readings are done from tablet PCs and diamond rings flash from the pews. The churches are large and overflowing and very often there are thousands of people attending each service.
Some of these huge churches that can hold over five thousand people and are built like plush auditoriums, with many chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, lighting up the whole area. Shining down on a congregation where dazzling diamond rings vie with the top brands of wrist watches and the best of designer clothing. This new generation of religious people firmly believes that being religious does not mean you have to be poor. They feel you should revel in your wealth. Which is perhaps why some pastors can be seeing driving high end luxury cars and flying around on private jets.
With so many wealthy people in the congregation, it is little wonder that the donations to the churches too are generous and the pastors are high net worth individuals today. They justify it by saying that people are born to be well off and joyously use everything that is given to them. Somehow these churches have moved on from places of worship to huge businesses being run for profit.
