Is Carey Mulligan Wearing An Engagement Ring?

Friday, September 30th, 2011

The ring was very obvious and it was on the right – well, the left finger. So, has Marcus Munford of Munford & Sons proposed? That’s a very obvious diamond ring she is wearing and though the sleeve of her sweater was long and almost covered her fingers, that little bit of dazzle could be seen peeping out from under the sleeve. She was at the airport in Sydney – she and Leonardo DiCaprio are shooting The Great Gatsby for Baz Lurhmann in Australia.
The couple have been together since March of this year and she has moved from New York back to the UK to be near him. Her much publicised affair and split with Shia LaBoeuf was followed by her meeting and dating Marcus. She’s come a long way as far as her acting is concerned from her debut performance in Pride and Prejudice as Kitty Bennet. She’s won a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award and an Academy Award and has grown from a shy British youngster to an international star.

Marcus and his group formed Mumford & Sons in 2007 and they all pledged to make music that matters, without being too serious about it. The four in the band are all close friends and they have enjoyed themselves making music. It looks like Marcus and Carey will also make sweet music together and everyone’s waiting to hear about that diamond ring on her finger.

Over £2000 Spent On Engagement Rings

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

A study has thrown up some amazing insights. There are four counties in the country where men spend over £2000 on engagement rings. In fact, the average amount spent in one county was £2535 on one ring. This average was computed by using the sales over one whole year and trying to see where most of the spending was coming from. The study clearly threw up four counties where men went all out to spend a lot on the engagement ring they chose to propose to the women in their lives.
The four counties are West Glamorgan, Glasgow, West Lothian and Angus. If one were to look at an average, most British men spent over £1500 for an engagement ring. This augurs well for the diamond ring industry and obviously, diamonds are still the most popular gemstones for an engagement ring. It also shows that no matter what financial problems people might have, when it comes to an engagement ring, as far as possible, there will be no scrimping and saving.
The metal that is most popular is yellow gold and one out of two engagement rings seems to be made of this. Coming up next was platinum followed by yellow metal. There are certain counties that are still traditional in their tastes and will only look at yellow gold. However, the rest of the country seems to be more modern in their taste and they seem to prefer the white look to the yellow. London seemed to have a platinum preference. What also emerged is that more and more people are buying their jewellery online finding it a lot more convenient and efficient.

£40,000 Canary Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring For Frankie Sandford

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

They’ve been seeing each other for nine months and word is out that Wayne Bridge has already bought a diamond ring for The Saturdays girl, Frankie. He bought the engagement ring from Graff Diamonds and sources say that he is planning the perfect time to propose with the ring. The diamond weighs 3.5 carats and it is a canary yellow diamond. That’s a really expensive ring but it’s less than half of what he supposedly earns each week so we’re guessing he doesn’t mind the price.
The Saturdays have grown to become a very successful band and Frankie, the band’s R&B singer and songwriter is on a high as far as her singing success goes. The band has had eleven single releases of which ten have made it to the UK top ten singles chart. She used to be a part of the S Club 8 and she is often featured as a glamorous icon in the style magazines. Her look is unique and she sets the trend for many a fashion look.
Wayne, who plays as left back for Manchester City got together with Frankie after his split with Vanessa Perroncel. He has a son by her and they split up while he was playing for Chelsea. It is said that he was bought by Manchester City for £10 million. In the light of what he must be earning, we are guessing that the expensive ring didn’t really make a dent in his pockets. Considering that most men spend two to three months’ salary on an engagement ring, this is in no way expensive for him, considering.

A Video Game Proposal And A Virtual Engagement Ring

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

It was a very unusual proposal indeed and it took a lot of thought and planning. It was also a very ‘today’ proposal –just the kind to warm any gamer’s heart. 21 year old Stephanie who is a photographer was asked by her boyfriend to play a game and imagine her surprise when an evil robot in one of the levels asked her to marry her boyfriend Gary. It gets even better – an engagement ring then appeared on the scene.
Her boyfriend Gary is a designer from Lancashire and he went to great lengths to make his proposal unique. He talked to the makers of the game and they specially recorded the proposal for him. A proposal which came on at just the right time in the wedding chapel level. The robot that asked the question is called GlaDOS and in his sinister voice, he told Stephanie that Gary would like to marry her. It appears that Gary has been very patient because he thought of the idea four years ago and he built a special level for the game and then got in touch with the popular game’s developers.
When Stephanie heard the proposal, she turned around and was amazed to see Gary down on one knee with a real engagement ring. The couple has been together for five years and this was such a wonderful declaration of his love for her. Apparently many couples meet online when they are gaming and in many instances it has meant marriage. However, everyone felt that Gary had gone a step further to make this very special.

How Old Could Your Diamond Ring Be?

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

There’s a lot of discussion in the Science magazine about how old diamonds are and how they reflect all the changes that have been happening on our planet for so many years. The theory of the planet recycling itself has now been done in a lab but it could well be an image of what really happened. The fact of the earth recycling itself can be found in all its elements but more so in carbon.
Diamonds, it is said, have existed for half the earth’s life and they mirror the changes the earth went through. Diamonds are, after all, formed under intense pressure and they are formed from the carbon that was deposited on the ocean floor than became the crust that formed land. So that diamond in an engagement ring could well be a billion years old. It is said there were six main diamonds that were formed in those ancient times and they surfaced in Brazil, coming up in the ocean crust and being deposited after they had been riding on plumes of kimberlites and this probably happened during the period when the dinosaurs were becoming extinct.
So looking deep into a diamond could perhaps trace the happening deep down under the surface of the earth. It also shows up the effects and the working of the carbon cycle. According to a researcher in Bristol, we only think about the carbon cycle as it appears on the surface of the earth. What is probably as, if not more important is the working of the carbon cycle under the surface and studying these patterns will give us a better understanding of the changes that are taking place in our planet and how best we can handle them.

Fiancé Designs Wedding Dress Model’s Engagement Ring

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

In a really sweet romantic gesture, Steve designed his girlfriend’s Emma’s engagement ring before proposing to her. He drew it out on paper, got it made and then proposed to her when they went on this romantic holiday in St. Lucia together. And now, it will go from the engagement ring to wedding rings in Belper.
Emma has been a wedding dress model for a long time and she says that she must have showed off more than a thousand wedding dresses in the course of her work. It’s been fifteen years since she has been in this career and she wears these gowns at shoots, fashion events or TV. Now, finally, she is going to get married, not just wear those dresses. Like she says, Steve has seen her in so many wedding gowns that choosing one that will make her look special and different will be tough. The great thing about her profession is that she gets to preview a lot of gowns before they are presented so she is privy to all the new designs and trends. It looks like she has already chosen a pretty special dress.
Though she will continue modelling even after she has got that wedding ring on her finger, Emma also has a make-up business catering especially to brides. She might model those wedding gowns but she also knows exactly how to make a blushing bride look her most beautiful best on that very special day. She is looking forward to getting married at Shrottle Hall in Belper and she says she fell in love with the place as soon as she saw it.

A Royal Wedding Ring And A Guinness World Record

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

On April 29 this year, when Prince William slipped a wedding ring on Kate’s finger, millions of people watched as she became the Duchess of Cambridge. Yes, it was watched by probably every British citizen in the UK but it was also watched by hordes of people who have always been fascinated by the British monarchy and everything that happens to them. Here was a second fairytale wedding in the family.
The thing is, it was watched by so many that the viewership has earned the event a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. It has become the most watched show online as the latest Guinness Book edition which came out on Thursday states. The event won the ‘Most Live Streams For A Single Event’ title and it says that it was watched by 72 million people online. Now that is truly something!
William and Kate were married by the Archbishop of Canterbury in April and it was reminiscent of what happened years ago when Princess Diana got married in a similar fairytale wedding. Though the two are very different, the ceremony and all the pomp and pageantry that surrounded both are still talked about all over the world. Kate’s engagement ring was probably the most copied ring ever and the sapphire and diamond ring has many engagement ring designs modelled on it. Yes, it has been one of the most talked about events and for a while there, the world talked about and watched nothing else.

Will You Be Exchanging Wedding Rings On The 12th Of March Next Year?

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

There are going to be sixteen lucky couples who are going to be exchanging wedding rings at the same time on sixteen different islands on the Bahamas next May and the great news is, you could be one of them if you are lucky. This is a contest being run by Bahamas Tourism and it is being done as a tourist event to bring in traffic to the islands and spread awareness about these sixteen beautiful ones.
Here’s what the couples have to do. They have to send in a video recording or photograph telling the event sponsors why they would like to be married in Bahamas. Then they have to choose one of the sixteen islands and talk about why they made that choice. They need to go to the website and go through all the sixteen islands and look through each proposal. While all the weddings on the islands will take place at the same time – that is, 4 o’clock on the 12th of May, 2012, each wedding will be different and unique. One might be a barefoot wedding, another in an ancient cloister, one at a lighthouse and another underwater.
The weddings will be all paid for – from a wedding dress of the bride’s choice from Benjamin Roberts’ Tia range to free wedding rings, to the wedding ceremony, a videographer, the toast and the cake and of course, flights and transport for the couple as well as a week’s stay. Their two guests will get a 6-day stay. It’s a dream wedding for most couples and obviously this is a push to promote these islands as wedding destinations. And this contest will make sixteen couples’ dreams come true.

Where Is Mezhgan Hussainy’s Engagement Ring?

Monday, September 19th, 2011

Speculation is on about whether or not Simon Cowell and Mezhgan are still engaged. Especially when he admitted, rather embarrassed, that he was unsure. One wonders what the scene really is – how can one be unsure whether one is engaged or not? Simon Cowell however, is so different from anyone else, he obviously enjoys this luxury. When they got engaged, the huge diamond ring took everyone’s breath away. Never let it be said that Simon does things in halves. Soon after this interview, he and Mezhgan were publicly seen out together at the USA X Factor launch party. The watchful eyes of the press however, saw that there was no ring in evidence. Where, oh where had it gone? With most people, it would be a simple explanation – it had gone to be resized or maybe the fit just wasn’t right that day so the lady had taken it off to keep something as expensive safe. The thing is, it looks like Mezhgan has moved out of Simon’s palatial home. To another of his houses so it’s not as though she has moved out completely. People who know Simon feel this is the beginning of the end – he’s done it before. A sort of a moving them out in stages. The Daily Mirror calls these homes girlfriend graveyards. Was she pushing too hard for him to set a date? Most of Simon’s friends know that he has always maintained that he will never get married so the speculation is on as to where that ring could have got to.

Study Shows Up Preferences For Wedding Ring Metal

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

What is the most popular metal for wedding rings? A survey that was done by a store recently had some very interesting findings that popped up. Apparently, Greater Manchester people prefer white gold while people in London prefer platinum. And in Cambridge, the most popular metal is yellow gold. The study shows that from an overview, it looks like the most popular metal in the UK is white gold while coming second is platinum and then yellow gold.
For those who feel that platinum is the ruling metal today for engagement rings and wedding rings, this might come as a bit of an eye-opener. When did white gold creep into first place? And does the place you are from really have so much to do with the metal you pick? Looks that way from the survey. Considering that for years, yellow gold was a given for wedding rings, maybe the time had come for a move away for it. However, maybe tradition does play a big part so while people might move away, they still want it to be gold when it comes to wedding rings. Whatever the reason, this seems to be the trend today.
Wedding rings are so important because it means rings for both the man and his bride. While the engagement ring is all about the woman, wedding rings have something that say ‘couple’ about them. The trend today is to have matching wedding rings whenever possible and when it means wedding rings for both the man and the woman, maybe white gold makes perfect sense. The tradition of gold and yet it looks different – something that both men and women could be comfortable in.

Is That Big Diamond Ring On Britney Spears’ finger An Engagement Ring?

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

She’s wearing a big diamond ring on her wedding ring finger. And her boyfriend Jason Trawick was seen at one of the top jewellery stores in Los Angeles a few days ago. Could it really be anything other than an engagement ring? And she doesn’t seem to be hiding it. So though there have been no reports of an engagement and no announcement from the couple, it really does look like they are engaged. Especially as there are rumours that Jason had a meeting with Pascal Mouaward himself and it looks like he was buying diamonds from the family’s private collection.
The couple is in London right now where the video of her new single Criminal is being filmed and once that is done, she will begin her European tour. At the entrance to the Radio 1 studios where this Bonnie and Clyde kind of video is being shot, she smiled and posed for fans and flaunted her ring. However, her people have denied any news of an engagement.
If she has got engaged and is thinking of walking down the aisle again, it will be the third time for the Circus singer. She was married briefly to her childhood sweetheart, then to her back-up dancer with whom she has two kids. Jason Trawick is a talent agent and though he has been caught going to the jewellers and she is wearing that huge diamond ring, he has denied any engagement. As most Britney fans know, she can be quite a tease and this isn’t the first time that she has been seen with a ring on that finger. Is it just a publicity stunt or could it be for real?
