A Fire, A 13-Year Romance And An Engagement And Wedding Ring
When a fire broke out in Julia’s house where she lived with her two young children, little did she realise that it would bring her together with the man she was going to marry. Her young son dialled the fire department but by then, Julia, who wanted to get the frying pan that was the cause of the fire away from inside the house, had burned her hand badly. Then in came Rod, a fire fighter and Julia was so happy to see help on its way that she threw her arms around him gratefully.
In Clevedon, they bumped into each other quite often after that and one day, Rod picked up courage to ask her for a date. Like he said, he has fought a lot of fires but something about Julia felt right. Even after his stint as a fire fighter, he felt worried about her and he would drop in to see how she was doing. It was this month, after thirteen years, that he got down on one knee and proposed. The children, who had been young, are all grown up now and both of them have cared for them and brought them up.
Little did Julia know that day that her future husband would walk in through her door, all dressed up in a fire fighter’s uniform. They were married at Edingworth with their family and friends around them and Julia’s son, who is now twenty, gave her away. She got a sparkling diamond ring as an engagement ring and now she proudly wears a wedding ring as well. To remember how they met, they had a fire engine as a wedding cake.
