For a whole day, her son walked around with a diamond in his sock and that must really have been the most expensive sock in the world! Mrs. Duncan from Cottingham noticed one day that the diamond from her diamond ring had fallen out and she was distraught. Itâs never easy to find out that you are walking around with a diamond ring minus the diamond. Especially when you have had it on for years.
Then her son came home and complained that he had felt uncomfortable all day long. The fourteen year old took off his shoes and socks and his mother heard a sound when he shook out his sock. She thought it must have been a stone stuck in his sock and made a mental note to find it and throw it out. And then, her son said that he had found something that shone and maybe she could think of putting that in her ring. Mrs. Duncan of course wasnât fooled â she knew at once that it was her diamond.
She had even got in touch with the insurance company when she lost it but when it could be wear and tear they obviously would not pay. So she thought that it was goodbye to the diamond and that they would have to spend a lot if they had to get another diamond. She is so grateful that her son did not take off his shoe and shake out his sock outside the house because then she would never have found it. She has no idea how it got into the sock but she guesses it must have been when she was doing the laundry.

Kate Middletonâs finger is obviously a bit too slender for the ring of rings that has been the inspiration for so many jewellers and designers today. The famous sapphire and diamond ring which belonged to the late Princess Diana had been slipping around her finger and she was terrified in case it slipped off and she lost it. It doesnât even bear thinking about.
So she approached the jewellers, G Collins & Sons to come up with a solution. Instead of getting the engagement ring resized, the jewellers came up with a wonderful idea â putting in two platinum beads which were fixed to the inside of the ring so it stops the ring from turning around on the finger or slipping off. Itâs a lot better to adjust the ring so it stays firm on the finger and feels comfortable without having to turn it around all the time so the stones stay in front.
According to jewellery experts, this is a common problem with rings that have heavy stones in them. They tend to keep twisting around on the finger if they donât fit absolutely perfectly and this can be annoying as well as uncomfortable. This is why fixing platinum beads on the inside is such a good idea because it just keeps the ring in place and there is no need to adjust or resize the band. In this case, the huge sapphire as well as all those diamonds around it must be heavy to manage if the fit is not perfect. Well, it hopefully is now and when she walks down that aisle, weâre hoping that ring feels that a part of her.

Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian have been together just a couple of months but there is already talk of an impending engagement and an engagement ring. In fact, Kim has been talking about not just engagement rings but also wedding plans. According to her, even as little girls, women plan their weddings and she is no exception.
She told the magazine Life & Style that she has already decided just what she wants her wedding dress to look like. Why not, because she has thought about it for years and this means sheâs just waiting to get married. Apparently sheâs been telling her friends about her engagement ring as well. She wants jewellery designer Lorraine Schwartz who is also a close friend to design it for her. Lorraine designed a lot of the late Elizabeth Taylorâs jewellery and Kim is hoping that her engagement ring will be something in that timeless style. Maybe something like her Krupp diamond ring?
Whatâs more, Kim has gone a step further and is thinking of children too â obviously Humphries children. She would like three, maybe five kids and all of them, she hopes, will have names that begin with a K. A tradition that she hopes to keep alive for a while.

Everyone knows that Jennifer Love Hewitt loves Tiffanyâs and at a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres she had admitted that she preferred choosing her engagement ring herself. The news was that Hewitt had already sussed out the jewellery at the Beverly Hills Tiffanyâs store and put three diamond rings on hold so when her beau proposed to her, he could choose from the rings that she had already short-listed.
Sheâs still waiting for Alex Beh to propose but she was seen a few days ago at the store. Was she checking whether the diamond rings she had chosen were still around? Or was she adding a few more rings that might have come in to add to the shortlist? One doesnât really know but she did pick up some silver stuff from the boutique.
The interview was in January and Alex still hasnât proposed which has led people to wonder whether he was put off by the whole public interview. According to Hewitt, she was doing him a favour and taking the onerous duty of choosing off his hands but maybe he didnât see it that way because he doesnât seem to have come up to scratch as yet. They are still together however and maybe it was a bit premature on Hewittâs part because the subject of marriage hasnât come up as yet between them.

The largest natural sapphire was unveiled by the Natural Sapphire Company, jewellers based in New York and it is available for sale right now. The sapphire in the middle of the ring is 69.35 carats and it is set in a ring with sixteen flawless diamonds encircling it. Each of the diamonds is .50 carats. The sapphire and diamond ring is worth over ÂŁ920,000 and this makes it the most expensive sapphire ring that you can buy today. The sapphire was certified by the four top gemmological labs of the world and today, it has come to be known as the âblue wonderâ.
The ring has been designed to look very much like the royal engagement ring. Sapphire and diamond rings seem to be the flavour of the season after Prince Williamâs and Kate Middletonâs engagement and anything to do with sapphires and diamonds seems to take its inspiration from the royal ring which was actually designed for Princess Diana for her engagement and it was done then by Garrard. However, the sapphire is much larger â nearly 70 carats to the royal ringâs 20 carats.
Both the sapphires were mined in Sri Lanka or Ceylon as it used to be called. As the jewellery companyâs CEO put it, this special sapphire and diamond ring, too, is fit for a queen. How soon it will be snapped up is to be seen. The jewellers specialise in sapphires and as soon as the royal engagement was announced, there was a spate of orders at the companyâs online website so much so that their server crashed. Since then, they have seen a huge number of orders for sapphire and diamond rings.

Thatâs the way it is done in Bulgaria and while the engagement ring is worn on the left hand, the wedding ring is worn on the ring finger of the right hand. Once a girl has an engagement ring slipped onto her finger, the wedding could take place the very next day or they could decide to wait for months, even a year. And then, the wedding takes place and the wedding ring is slipped onto her right hand.
Many Bulgarian women choose to take their engagement rings off after they get married so there will not be any ring worn on the left hand â only the wedding ring worn on the right hand. However, younger women prefer to wear both rings although they are not on the same finger or the same hand. Today, engagement rings are a matter of pride for any woman to wear and every woman wants to show off a diamond ring on her finger. Which is perhaps why the younger brides are breaking with tradition and keeping their engagement rings on.
Bulgarian weddings will usually be fixed for a Saturday or a Sunday when it is a holiday which means people can enjoy themselves more. Thereâs a lot of food, fun and frolic at these weddings and there are a number of people at each wedding â usually everyone the bride, groom or their families know. Dancing is very popular and the whole idea is that everybody has a good time.

It happened just before their 65th anniversary. Two 89 year olds, very much in love and very much married and suddenly, the man realises that he has lost his wedding ring. What a terrible thing to happen just a few days before they were to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They had met during the Second World War and though they began dating, he was a soldier and was away for three years. They finally got married in 1946 and that was when she slipped the wedding ring onto his finger.
He couldnât figure out where he could have lost it. He had lost a bit of weight because he had to undergo surgery recently and that must have been how it slipped off without him realising it. He remembered that he had put ion gloves for something and then taken them off and he thought that was when it must have slipped off. It was only when he had come back home after a shopping trip and was reading the newspaper that he suddenly noticed the wedding ring was not on his finger.
Happily, unlike many of engagement ring and wedding ring stories, this one has a happy ending. He called the pharmacy where he had been to in order to try and see if it had fallen off somewhere there and to his surprise, he was told that a young boy had found it on the floor of the bathroom there. The man was overjoyed, weâre sure his wife must have been too. With the ring back, the anniversary celebrations must have been so happy.

Who would think that one of the largest retailer chains not just in the US but in the world would also stock engagement rings? Not just any engagement rings but rings with diamonds that could go up to almost 7 carats. Maybe there seems to be a fit somewhere because Costco is also the largest fine wine retailer in the world and wine, romance and diamond rings are such a great fit. This chain which opened in the early 80s in Washington has grown so quickly to become a leader in America and then it expanded its chain all over the world.
Costco is known the world over for its great deals. It has become famous for low priced bulk products and so is ideal for large families who can take advantage of volumes at much cheaper rates. You need to become a member to shop there and you get information about all their great deals. Who wouldnât want to become a part of this chain? Itâs got practically everything and when you realise that engagement rings can also be bought as you are pushing your trolley through the aisles makes it really versatile.
So where do the rings fit in? Costco has apparently always sold engagement rings and the best part is, there is a return policy. So if you buy a diamond ring and then find that you donât like it â hard to imagine, but just in case â then you can go return it and get your money back. Whatâs more, in true Costco style, even the rings enjoy a discount. Yes, even the 6.77 carat diamond one. Now that is really great news for anyone. Imagine Costcoâs competing with Tiffanyâs when it comes to engagement rings.

Itâs a wedding the whole world is waiting for with bated breath and now, there are contests being woven around this event. The sapphire and diamond engagement ring has become the most popular piece of jewellery in the world today and everyone from every corner of the globe would like to possess a ring that looks like that.
The reason the ring is so popular is perhaps because it has a history of a fairytale romance and wedding. The engagement ring was made for Diana and now, thereâs another fairytale wedding that is about to happen. The ring was then valued at ÂŁ28,000 but today, it is almost ten times the price. That ring, designed in 1981 saw so much happening â a young, shy bride and then all that followed. Kate Middleton is a much more aware bride and with that ring, she will be wished a lifetime of happiness.
The contest that the company BingoHollywood is conducting involves answering a few simple questions and who knows â anyone could get lucky. There will be five winners who will walk away with a beautiful piece of jewellery in a few days. All it takes are right answers to questions about Diana.

Sheâs been waiting for American Idol host Ryan Seacrest to put a ring on her finger for a while and it looks like a lot of people seem to be expecting it to be soon too. She might be young but she is in a hurry to get married and have children and she seems to be telling everyone who might care to listen that she hasnât yet got any diamond ring on her finger and that she would most like to have one.
Julianne Hough who used to be with the show Dancing with the Stars has been with Ryan Seacrest for a number of months now and it looks like the American Idol host is also quite keen to make this a permanent arrangement. There were a few reports that surfaced recently that Ryan had put a ring on her finger but apparently that is not true. In fact, one source even described the ring as being a huge 4 or 5 carat diamond ring. He had bought it sometime ago they say, but will give it to Julianne sometime soon.
Reports also say that the mid-thirties host is really happy and that Julianneâs parents just love him. His mother absolutely loves her too and she is waiting for Ryan to present her with grandchildren. Ryan, it is said, is very romantic and even when he is travelling, Julianne finds her car filled with flowers. It could be an occasion or nothing special but Ryan likes sending her flowers.
