The American singer and songwriter Jason Mraz is engaged to vocalist Tristan Prettyman and if sources are to be believed, they will not be exchanging wedding rings soon. The couple feels that they should not get married till there is marriage equality for everyone and that, one feels, is a pretty tall order. Very much like the beauty contestants who always look for world peace.
The ‘I’m Yours’ singer is waiting for a lot of things to happen and get righted in this world – things like gay rights, for example. He feels a step in this direction will be one great leap for civil rights. However, this did not stop him getting his girl a wonderful engagement ring – it has a great brilliant cut diamond surrounded by smaller stones on each side.
Jason believes in the power of numbers so the diamond ring has 23 diamonds in it – that’s both their birth dates added up. He also believes in the luck of the number 11 so there are 11 diamonds on either side of the central stone – they all add up to 23. And it all adds up to 2.3 carats. Now that’s some number superstition there!
