Diamond Ring And Jewellery To Be Auctioned For Charity Work

Not many people would do that and having an athlete who has broken records wanting to sell her jewellery so her foundation can carry on with its charity work is commendable. But that’s exactly what Catherine Freeman has done. She won the gold in the 400m race way back at the Sydney Olympics ten years ago but she isn’t resting on her laurels – she’s busy looking after a charity foundation.

The jewellery was auctioned last month and included an expensive diamond ring, Cartier, Bulgari and Georg Jensen watches and some other pieces. The auction was held in Australia at the Leonard Joel auction rooms in South Yarra. The jewellery and the gold items realised money that will go to the foundation.

Catherine Freeman’s foundation supports children of the indigenous community and it is located on Palm Island. Freeman feels that her days of being an athlete are long gone but her work with the foundation is what is relevant and what she needs to focus on.
