Lindsay Logan Seeks Comfort In Diamond Rings

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

She may say she’s absolutely broke but Lindsay Logan, beleaguered with news about her addiction, definitely has enough money to spend on diamond rings and other bling. Or so it seemed as she was seen shopping at a diamond store. She looked at a lot of diamond jewellery and finally bought a single stone diamond ring and walked out.

The thing is, she said that she had nothing when she had to get into rehab a few months ago. So we’re guessing there must have been a sudden windfall. Or was she shopping early for Christmas gifts for her friends and her family? Maybe she was, because she also walked into a few other stores like Gucci.

It looks like she is on the road to being sober and one hopes that she will stick to that path. She was seen outside her sober facility before that and she seemed to be having a good time out in the sun. The reason she is in the facility is because otherwise she would have had to do a jail term for her illegal possession of drugs and she will have to be there till the beginning of January.

Cobalt Chrome Wedding Rings The New Trend For Men

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Time was when men started looking around for something stylish when it came to wedding rings, not to mention something different. So platinum and then tungsten became popular. But there’s another metal doing the rounds today and getting very popular and that is cobalt chrome.

The thing about cobalt chrome is that it looks like platinum but it is so tough that it is scratch-proof. This is great when the man wants a wedding ring that matches his wife’s and yet, would like something that is tougher than white gold or platinum. It looks elegant and sleek and suddenly, it opens out a new fashionable range in men’s wedding rings.

The thing about cobalt chrome is that it looks so much like platinum and white gold that it can easily pass off as one of them and this makes the matter of matching wedding rings so much easier. The woman gets what she wants – white gold or platinum – and the man gets his tough metal which also matches. What perhaps is most comforting is the fact that it is more reasonably priced. It is as hard as a metal like titanium and it is also hypoallergenic – so what more could one ask for? Especially as this metal has been used for implants inside the body – so it needs to be compatible and non-reactive inside.

The Royal Engagement Ring And The Sri Lankan Connection

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

Ever since the royal engagement, interest in sapphire and diamond engagement rings seems to have surged. Of course, there are a lot of fake look-alikes out there all over the world as everyone wants a ring that looks like Kate Middleton’s. The ring was first put on Princess Diana’s finger way back in 1981 and today, there’s been a renewed interest in sapphires thanks to the recent royal engagement.

The sapphire on the ring has come a long way. All the way from the isle of Sri Lanka, in fact. It was mined in the Ratnapura area on the island which is famous for its gem stones. The wonderful thing about the Sri Lankan sapphires is their stunning blue colour and their lustrous look. This is perhaps why these gems have found a place in all the leading royal houses in the world, imported from the island which as then called Ceylon, famous for its precious stones and its tea.

The other sapphire in the royal collection is the one set in the Maltese Cross which is found on top of the Crown worn by the Queen on State occasions. The sapphire was named St. Edward’s Sapphire and this too, is a wonderful, startling blue. Sapphires are especially stunning when they are set with dazzling colourless diamonds.

And Another Engagement Ring Gets Dropped

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

We’ve heard of stories where the man proposes and maybe it’s just nerves but he drops the engagement ring. One would think that after spending so much on a diamond ring, men would think twice before proposing in places where the ring could fall and get lost. However, a proposal somehow makes a man less practical than he usually is and here’s another story to illustrate just that point.

A web producer took his girlfriend to the Washington pier and proposed to her and dropped the ring. It was a white gold ring with a diamond weighing ½ carat and set with a lot of tiny diamonds. He took the ring out, asked her to marry him, she said Yes and you guessed it – suddenly there was no engagement ring. It fell at her feet, she got a glimpse of it and it was gone.

Yes, they are engaged and he hopes to get her another ring after he’s saved up for it. But they haven’t lost hope yet. The diamond ring might just be on the seabed and a diver has promised to bring his friends and look for it. They would need a metal detector to scour the ocean floor. Of course, if a fish has swallowed it, that would be sad. Wish someone had told him a pier might be romantic but after the ring is firmly on the finger.

85 Years Old And Wedding Ring Returned

Friday, November 26th, 2010

It was like a miracle when Robert Lee of Brooksville, Texas found his wedding ring after four long months. And the best part is, it was like a wonderful birthday present because it was returned to him on his 85th birthday on the 17th of November. He’s a simple man and he had been through a rough time when his wife passed away last year in October and he was so unhappy at the fact that four months ago, he lost his treasured wedding ring.

It wasn’t the wedding ring he had been married with because ten years ago, his wife got him a second one because she saw that the first one didn’t fit him. He used to donate clothes to a charity and obviously the wedding ring had got lost during one of those times.

The thing was, someone had found the ring and put it into a drawer but when the pastor looked for it, it was gone, Then, miraculously a few days ago, he saw it sticking out of the mud, gleaming so he called Robert who couldn’t have been happier, He is sure it must have been his wife who was responsible for him getting back his ring – and on his birthday too.

60 Year Old Wedding-Cum-Engagement Ring Lost

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

In Ocala, Texas in the USA, there’s an old lady who is very sad indeed. For sixty years, she wore her wedding and diamond engagement rings and then, last week, the ring got lost. Yes, just one ring because her husband had got both the rings fused together for their 55th anniversary.

Joan Brennan was having lunch at a restaurant last week, and after leaving the restaurant with friends, she had to go and get her hair done about five minutes away. When she got there, she realised that the ring was no longer on her finger. She hurried back to the restaurant but she didn’t find the ring.

The ring, as we said, was the wedding ring and the engagement ring fused together. So it was a yellow gold band engraved with flowers and a diamond surrounded by smaller ones. The really sad part was that the day after she lost her ring, her husband who had been suffering from Alzheimer’s passed away. Joan is devastated at the passing of her husband and the ring which had so many happy memories of their long time together.

Courtney Cox Still Wears Wedding Ring

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

Courtney Cox is quick to say that she and David Arquette are separated and nor divorced so she is still sporting her wedding ring. She was seen at a charity event in Los Angeles and on her finger was her diamond-encrusted wedding band. While she is very frank about not knowing which way things can go, she reiterates that a separation is not exactly a divorce. They separated a month ago and it came as quite a shock to many fans because they were believed to be one of Hollywood’s wonderfully happy couples.

David Arquette however seems to think otherwise and he has been seen hitting the party circuit without his wedding ring. He’s been seen all over town in Hollywood with his friends ever since the break-up or rather, the separation.

They have been a couple for over eleven years and they are co-starring in a film together. They had a child after many years of marriage and both seemed to be such proud and adoring parents. However, they are still, apparently, friends and there are no lawyers involved. The sad thing is, a few months ago, there was talk of them adopting a child as a companion for their first child, a daughter.

Wedding Ring For Anna?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

Are Anna Kournikova and Enrique Inglesias married? They have been together for eight long years and in the entertainment industry, that’s an awful long time. We still don’t know whether they are engaged as yet though Anna has been wearing a huge diamond ring on her finger for over a year.

Then, last week, the pair were spotted coming out of a restaurant in Hollywood and she had on what seemed like both a wedding ring as well as an engagement ring. It was a sparkling wedding ring and she made no attempt to hide it – though, with this couple, you never know. Remember how she did that last year with a huge yellow diamond ring on her ring finger and then the two of them gave interviews that they both did not believe in marriage? Well, it looked like an engagement ring all right – and a stunner at that!

And now, she’s added a diamond wedding band – another stunner to that and anyone will be forgiven for thinking that it is a wedding ring. So have they got married secretly and were those interviews a smokescreen? They make such a great couple, she so beautiful and confident and he so chivalrous and smouldering.

Diamond Ring Lifted At Nail Salon

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

People can get so inventive when it comes to stealing jewellery. More often than not, it is the fault of the owner because they take their rings off when they want to wash their hands or apply cream and forget them behind at a hotel or a rest room. Of course, one place where they will take their rings off is at a nail salon and that is exactly where this theft happened.

A lady came into a nail salon in Beaumont, Texas, USA because she wanted to get her nails done. She took off her ring and put it on the table and after her nails had been done, she left. When she realised that she hadn’t put her ring back on, she went back but her ring had gone. The ring was her wedding ring and it was made of white gold and it was set with diamonds.

Luckily the store had video surveillance cameras and they saw that it was a black woman who took the ring and tucked it away under her leg. She was with two other women and two children and she was wearing a purple shirt which had a white collar. The police are on the look out for the woman and they hope they will be able to get the wedding diamond ring back soon.

Drug Diamond Ring Has No Takers At Auction

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

Why would an incredible gold ring with a diamond that is said to be over ½” in diameter and has forty-eight smaller precious stones embedded all around it not have any takers? Especially when the bid price for it started at a very low figure of £70,000? There were many pieces of incredible jewellery and watches that were up for sale at this auction in Mexico but most of them seem to be confiscated items from the narco trade millionaires so no one wants to touch them.

Why would confiscated goods be dangerous to buy? Because the drug traffickers could get word who bought the stuff that was taken away from them and they could come and ring your doorbell – with a gun. No one wants to spend money on these goods when the likelihood of it being forcibly taken away from them is always there.

The drug lords – and ladies – in Mexico are known for their penchant for bling and their partiality for gilded mansions and gaudy pieces of art. There were a number of high end watches as well to be sold and jewellery with all kinds of precious gemstones – from diamonds, of course, to sapphires, rubies and emeralds. While the owners of the items were kept a strict secret, so were many of the items before the auction opened, maybe to protect whoever bid for it.

How Much Is The Royal Engagement Ring Worth?

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Does anyone know? Well, they do but they are not telling. So many years after Princess Diana’s engagement and her death, there are very few people who know how much that incredible sapphire and diamond ring is worth and they have been sworn to secrecy. The then Princess of Wales’s engagement ring was insured for its actual worth with an insurance firm but no one outside of those few people know for how much.

Ted Mission who is 80 and lives in New Zealand is one of them and he won’t tell. The engagement ring was insured years ago when he was a broker in Bain Dawes, one the leading insurance companies in London, underwritten by Lloyd’s. Today, he lives in New Zealand, in Maungaturoto.

The insurance firm he worked for has insured a lot of the Queen’s personal effects and once at Lloyd’s, when she had come to speak to the people in the underwriter’s firm, he actually met her. That was around forty years ago and he still remembers her asking how long he had worked for the company and if he had a family. One wonders just how much the sapphire and diamond engagement ring is worth today!
