An Engagement Ring Is Not Just An Engagement Ring
There’s been a recent survey in the UK that points towards the fact that more and more women are very concerned about the kind of engagement ring they get and not just any engagement ring will do. The stats say that women are getting a lot more savvy about their engagement rings as expectations rise. What they seem to want is not just a valuable engagement ring but one that rivals everyone else’s they know.
What the engagement ring has become, so say the results of the survey, is so much more that a symbol of love and the precursor to marriage. Today, an engagement ring is a reflection of a person’s status and how much he can afford. So, it a way, it reflects the social status of the woman herself and the more expensive the engagement ring, the greater her self-worth.
Around 15% said they hadn’t been happy with their fiancé’s choice of ring and a whopping 64% said they would ask him to change it if they didn’t like it. And 41% were very practical about it and said they would much prefer to do the choosing themselves. It looks like there is a lot of peer pressure when it comes to engagement rings and considering you are going to be wearing it hopefully, for a while, maybe the time has come to get practical about it too.
