4-Carat Diamond Engagement Ring Found Thanks To Plumbers

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

A lady in Mississippi, USA who got married last month has plumbers to thank because they helped her find her two rings – a 4-carat diamond engagement ring and an amethyst ring. She had taken them off at night and put it on the bathroom counter and when she woke up, they were gone.

Apparently their cat had whacked the two rings off the bathroom counter right into the toilet bowl. Now did that cat do it purposely or was it an accident? Obviously, it had great aim to get both into the toilet bowl. We wonder of the cat pulled the flush too!

They called the plumbers in and they had to do a bit of work to get those rings. They had a drain camera with them which made things a bit easier. They had to dig a hole in the garden where the pipe came out and after digging that 3-foot hole, they asked them to pull the flush. When the water gushed out of the hole, so did the two rings. The lady and her husband must have paid that plumbers’ bill so gratefully. Wonder what they did to the cat!

Dazzling Ring Up For Bids At Bonhams

Monday, September 6th, 2010

The 6-carat pure white diamond £200,000 ring will be auctioned at the Bonham’s Fine Jewellery auction slated to take place sometime this month. This auction is expected to be an exceptional one and this art deco ring is to be the stunning centrepiece of the show.

This is a Type IIa diamond and is said to be absolutely brilliant and transparent. The diamond weighs 6.82 carats and is an Asscher-cut one and is said to be flawless with a VVS2 clarity. This is one diamond that is all white – no traces of yellow or any other colour – just what traditionally great diamonds are supposed to be.

Also up for bids at this auction will be Henry Philip Hope’s rare catalogue which was published way back in 1839 where his whole collection of diamonds and pearls and other jewellery has been documented. The catalogue also contains details about the Hope Diamond as well as the Hope Pearl.

3-Carat Ring Stolen From Tiffany’s, Beijing

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

In what was a very daring heist, a couple made off with a 3-carat diamond ring from the Tiffany’s store in Beijing. The modus operandi was very well planned and very rehearsed and they made off with this valuable diamond ring before the sales people realised just what was happening.

The man and the woman had obviously visited the shop many times to be familiar with the way things worked. On this particular day, the woman created a diver4sion by dropping her own ring while the man cleverly took one of the expensive rings they had been looking at and both left the shop. This Tiffany’s shop is situated at the Oriental Plaza in Beijing.

The police are looking at the CCTV footage to try and identify the man and woman. The salesgirl had chased the couple but they escaped. The police have warned the jewellery stores in the city to beef up security and also to make sure that there were at least four people watching when people came in to take a look at jewellery.

Is Reese Witherspoon Going To Get An Engagement Ring Soon?

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Reese Witherspoon’s boyfriend has reportedly been seen looking at engagement rings. Jim Toth was spotted at a number of Hollywood jewellery stores looking no doubt for the perfect ring with which to propose to Reese. The couple has been together now for over eight months and it looks like they are both very serious about each other.

It almost happened with Jake Gyllenhaal too and the couple was together for two years and everyone was waiting for the engagement to be announced but it didn’t happen. Her close friends say that she is more involved with Jim than she had been with Jake so maybe we will soon be seeing her with an engagement ring on.

Reese has two children by her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe and she shot into fame with her stellar role in Walk the Line. Now she and Jim, who is a Hollywood agent look all set to walk down the aisle together. But first, the engagement and the engagement ring. We wonder how large the diamond will be!

Bob Geldof’s Daughter’s Diamond Ring Starts Rumours Of Engagement

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Peaches Geldof has been seen around town wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger so the obvious question is – is it an engagement ring? Why else would she wear it on that particular finger? She and Eli Roth, the film director have been together for six months now and they were in a celebration mood – celebrating half a year together as well as his film, The Last Exorcism which has just been released.

Peaches is a lingerie model and she’s just 21 while Roth is 38 and they both seem very much in love. They were first spotted together at Roth’s successful film release of The Inglorious Basterds. His latest film premiered at Leicester Square and that was why they were celebrating at the Ivy together. The film has already climbed the charts up to the No. 1 slot in the American box office.

Her father’s office says that there is no question of an engagement and they seem categorical about it. So why was that diamond sparkler on her hand on that finger? Was she just having fun with the media? Or are they secretly engaged. We’ll just have to wait to find out.

Diamond Ring And Hair Of Elvis Fetch a Lot

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The Heritage Auction which sold Elvis memorabilia last month realised quite a bit from the King’s possessions. Had he been alive, he would have been 75 today and there were many who wanted to own a part of him which is why this auction at Memphis drew a large crowd.

His stunning gold and diamond cameo ring sold for a huge sum and so did a lot of other pieces that were auctioned. However, his famous white piano didn’t sell because it did not get the asking price. They say it might be sold privately later. With Elvis dying so young it was obvious that the great performer he was, he would be remembered for years by his loyal fans.

What made news was the jar of dyed black hair of his that had been collected by his barber and was auctioned along with his other stuff. He was so famous for his black quaff and the hair no doubt was a great bit to remember him by for the person who bid for it and bought it.

Diamonds And Platinum Dazzle At The Emmy Awards

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The gems that shone and sparkled were mostly diamonds and the metal that had pride of place was platinum. It looks like the bold and the beautiful, the shining stars of the silver screen are increasingly being drawn to these two jewellery items when it comes to flaunting their attire and jewellery on the red carpet. This was the 62nd Emmy Awards function and it was well attended by many of the luminaries of the acting world.

Platinum was the favourite of many of the great celebrities and stars, even the ones from yesteryear. From Marilyn Monroe to Elizabeth Taylor to Grace Kelly, platinum and diamonds seem to have been a favourite especially when it came to red carpet time.

Some of the jewellery on display at this year’s Emmy Awards was Emily Blunt’s diamond and platinum bangle, Kelly’s Osborne’s white and black diamonds in platinum bracelets, Kim Kardashian’s platinum cuffs liberally studded with diamonds that were white and champagne coloured and Kyra Sedgwick’s platinum and diamonds earrings, ring and bracelets.
