There’s a gold engagement ring that has been found in Langley in British Columbia, Canada but thus far, no one has come forward to claim the ring. The engagement ring has a solitaire diamond in a round cut set in the centre and the setting is yellow gold. The ring is obviously very new as the price tag is still attached to it. So did some man buy it, hoping to ask the girl of his dreams to marry him and then dropped it somewhere?

Where was it found? It was found in a petrol station at Mohawk when a man stopped to fill air in his tyres. Suddenly, he noticed something on the ground, shining and when he picked it up, he saw it was a yellow gold diamond ring with, as we said, the price tag still attached.

So many engagement rings are lost all over the world and yet, there are some good souls who find them and look for their owners because they know just how sentimental in value an engagement ring can be. This, in spite of the fact that in most cases, the diamond alone will fetch a pretty penny.

Caoimhe Guilfoyle, of Big Brother fame does not wear an engagement ring on her finger but she says that marriage plans with Dave Mulligan, her boyfriend are on. However she does admit that it was possible that their engagement could be a rather long one. The engagement that she says is on without the engagement ting.

Rumour has it that she proposed to boyfriend Dave on the phone from the show’s sets a couple of weeks before she had a row with someone on the show and walked out. She’s 22 and he is 26 and she says they have even done a shoot together posing as an engaged couple. Are they going to airbrush the engagement ring in, we wonder?

We told you it would be sometime soon and it’s happened. Hillary Duff and Mike Comrie got married last weekend in Montecito, Santa Barbara, USA. The Lizzie McGuire star and the hockey player had a romantic, candlelight ceremony and the wedding was a very private affair. She’s 22 and he’s 29 and there must have been just about one hundred guests to witness their exchange of wedding rings.

The bride wore a beautiful Vera Wang gown which was strapless and her older sister Haylie was her maid of honour. Her mother gave her away and she had four other bridesmaids. The wedding took place on Saturday evening at the San Ysidro Ranch.

Both of them are getting married for the first time and sources say they both looked very happy. They’ve been together for three years now and while Mike was all right with any kind of wedding, Hillary wanted a small, intimate one. The professional ice hockey player and the pop actress seem so much in love and so made for each other.

There he was, all set to propose when nature disposed of his plans. He had the over £5500 diamond engagement ring in his hand and he was feeling so romantic and pleased with himself considering he had set this up to be different and special. He had planned to slip the ring onto his girlfriend’s finger on the jetty in South Yarmouth in the US. He attached the ring to a sand dollar and when the girlfriend hopefully found it, she would see the ring too and he could propose.

Trust women to change the best laid plans. She did find the sand dollar but she was so excited seeing the ring that she dropped the sand dollar and the ring into the water. So even though they tried searching, the surf claimed the engagement ring as well as his carefully laid plan.

They were lucky that the ring was insured but we wonder how many more men have planned things so well and lost their rings. It might be so much better if they just hid a note saying ‘Will you marry me?’ in such places and take out the ring from their pockets when the girl said ‘Yes’.

Mengagement rings have been making news for the past few years now and now we have the famous Canadian singer sporting one, very proudly. In this day and age, that might not seem unseemly except that her fiancé hasn’t got his divorce from his previous wife yet. So is the engagement ring in anticipation of the divorce or is she telling him to get on with it and get married to her soon?

Very ingenious and maybe thrilling in a movie but in real life, it’s rather sad for the owner of the diamond ring.

The gang of thieves have many members it is claimed, maybe over two hundred and they specialise in robberies in the Balkans, the Gulf and in Asia, Three years ago, they stole a very expensive diamond tiara in Tokyo and made off with it. The gang is known for the speed with which it operates and its creative planning of each theft. They have operated for over ten years and they have done a number of armed robberies as well.

Now, one of the gang members has been arrested in Spain and the Japanese have asked for him to be extradited to Tokyo to stand trial and it looks like the Spanish ministry has agreed.

Many women tend to feel that a wedding ring on the finger is a deterrent for men when they want to flirt aggressively. Is this really true? This belief has led many young women to wear a wedding ring to protect themselves from aggressive men who cannot take No for an answer.

There’s a ring manufacturer in Seattle USA who seems to be capitalising on this idea and selling fake wedding rings for a song. According to her, there are so many women that are hit on and this seems to be a great way to keep those horrible men at bay. Ever since she opened shop – the company is called Ms Taken – she says that she has sold so many wedding rings that are fake. The strange thing is, more men than women seem to be buying it - for their girlfriends no doubt!

The company even advertises on YouTube and while these rings are no substitute for the real thing, it looks like there is some use for the products they sell. One wonders however, if the men are so concerned, why don’t they just marry the woman in question with a real wedding ring? And does a fake wedding ring really keep away the men who are aggressive and pester a woman no matter what? It might just keep away the ones who could be seriously interested in the woman!

The Hollywood actress Hillary Duff got engaged Mike Comrie, a hockey player in February this year and it looks like wedding plans are on for the couple. Her engagement ring made news with its huge diamond and it is valued at close to £65,000. They were on a trip to Hawaii when he asked her and she accepted.

The wedding, according to Hillary’s sister is going to be managed by wedding planner Mindy Weiss and it is said to be shaping up as a very intimate, private affair. It appears that Leonardo DiCaprio has been seen looking at rings and you know what that means – or at least, what every fan of his will think. Leo and Bar Rafaeli have been together for five years now and that is one long relationship in Hollywood where people seem to be changing partners every month.

The news seem to be doing the rounds thanks to a close friend who says that the famous actor has told him that he is going to take his mother along to look at engagement rings for Bar. He has been busy the past few years, making one hit movie after another that it is understandable that he was too busy to get married. However, the couple seem very happy together and it was only a matter of time, we thought before they announced plans to get together.

Alicia Keys got what she wanted on the 31st of July when rapper Swizz Beatz slipped a wedding ring onto her ring finger. They had a very private wedding ceremony and it was away from the media glare what with everyone being focussed on what was happening at the Clinton wedding on the same day.

Alicia Keys is expecting the couple’s first baby and she and Swizz Beatz have been friends a long time as well as worked together. The wedding took a lot of people by surprise especially as Swizz had, just a week ago, denied that they were going to get married soon. There were also rumours after Keys and her manager parted ways that Swizz would take over that role, which he had emphatically denied.

Alicia, say sources, looked very lovely in a Vera Wang gown which was designed in a Grecian one-shoulder fashion. The wedding was held in Corsica with the Mediterranean as the backdrop with their close friend Deepak Chopra officiating. There has been a lot of negative publicity with Swizz divorcing his wife in May, announcing that Alicia was pregnant with his child and then getting married so quickly.
