Re-Exchanging Wedding Rings After Fifty Years
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Fifty years ago, Llewellyn and Sadie got married at the Union Baptist Church at Druid Hill in Baltimore, USA. A few days ago, they celebrated their fifty years of marriage by re-exchanging wedding rings and retaking their wedding vows. It was a typical wedding, with the bride in a white dress, the groom dressed in black except that she is 73 and he is 80.
What was different of course was that their children were there as well, all grown up. A jazz singer sang âTrue Loveâ during the ceremony and she had sung the same song for them fifty years ago. According to her, the couple looked just as happy as when they got married way back in 1960.
Whatâs more, one of their daughters who planned the whole thing even got anniversary wishes for them from the President and his wife. The couple and their family have been very involved in church activities and this church is known for its involvement in the civil rights movement. The church was established in the middle of the nineteenth century.
