Diamond Rings And Diamond Shares On The Road To Recovery

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Last year, there was a sharp drop in diamond shares because people weren’t buying as many diamond rings or diamond jewellery as before. The common man tightened his belt with the onset of the recession and the first thing to be hit was the luxury items, seeing a drop in diamond stock rates. Now suddenly, all that looks set for change and people are going out and buying diamond rings and jewellery again with the market recovery. So diamond stocks are expected to reflect that and start going up soon too.

Right now might be a good time to invest in diamond stocks as a lot of diamond mining companies are being traded at much less than their actual value – something that won’t happen for too long. With demand of diamonds slated to go up in the months to come, the stocks will too. According to the experts, investing in companies that are already producing diamonds rather than ones in the exploration stage might be a good idea.

507 Carat Diamond Sold

Monday, March 8th, 2010

It is probably the diamond that has got the highest price and there are those who feel it was sold at a bargain. The diamond was sold in the UK on Friday and Petra CEO says that it is an ‘incredible rarity’. Mined in the famous Cullinan mines in Africa where so many other large diamonds have been found, this one was sold to Chow Tai Food Jewellery Co.

The diamond was mined in September last year but the find was kept under wraps and then it was moved, closely guarded till it was sold. One wonders who will cut the stone and what shape it will be cut in. After all, it is one of the most interesting diamond finds in recent times.

Her fiancé, David Otunga, who is a law graduate from Harvard, is also a wrestler and they were in the news because she was one of the first women celebrities to give him an engagement ring as well.

The wedding is going to be soon – the couple have a child and apparently they’ve already decided on the date and she’s chosen a beautiful wedding gown. The rings, of course, will doubtless be one of a kind designer jewellery.

British Men Want Engagement Rings Too

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

More and more men seem to think that it’s only fair that they get an engagement ring too. And if it’s a diamond ring, all the better. For one thing, men are wearing a lot more jewellery today and for another, why should only the man do the spending, seems to be the sentiment.

For too long perhaps, men have done all the spending, even the very expensive engagement ring. However, with women earning as well, it’s time, men feel, that they, too, start paying and what better way to begin that with an expensive ring. According to famous jeweller H. Samuel, there’s a steadily increasing demand for men’s engagement rings today – also called ‘mengagement rings’. So we’re guessing that more and more women will start proposing to men now.

World War II Engagement Ring Mail Proposal

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

There are a whole lot of romantic ideas when it comes to proposals and how a man gives the woman of his dreams the engagement ring. Hidden in champagne, in desserts, proposals in the air, under the sea – there’s so much romance and imagination that surrounds a proposal. There’s one however that goes back to WWII. A soldier wanted so much to ask his girl to marry him and he knew it would be some time before he could get back home. So he asked his sister to do the needful. He sent her the money and asked her to buy the engagement ring and give it to the girl he had known and loved from high school in Illinois, USA.

Today, they’ve been happily married for 64 years and both are over 90 years old. Sophia, the lady still has all those romantic letters that Renner, her husband wrote to her when they were young and apart. She keeps them safe in a cedar chest.

Olympic Skiing Medal Comes With An Engagement Ring

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

American ski champion Billy Demong got lucky because on the same day that he won the Nordic combined Olympic medal for skiing, he also got engaged. He and three others won the gold medal and it was a first for the US. This event is a combination of cross country skiing and ski jumping. So they all wore big smiles when they won. Billy’s was even wider because he decided to get engaged too on the same day.

He got third time lucky. With these two happy events visiting him on the same day, he got a third wonderful surprise – he got picked to be Team USA’s flag bearer. It’s one great fortunate spell for him, never mind that he’s out there competing in that cold weather with sleet and rain.

Saying Yes To A 4-Carat Diamond Ring

Monday, March 1st, 2010

A couple got engaged in New York and soon after that, the woman, Rena Hope Friedman, did everything she could to make Roger Adler break off the engagement. First, she kept pushing him to propose and when he did, she kept wanting a BMW, a honeymoon in Australia with first class air tickets and even told him that his old parents couldn’t attend the wedding. When he decided to break off the engagement, she refused to return the ring.

The engagement ring that Roger Adler got her was a 4-carat diamond which was a radiant cut and it had diamonds on the side and was set in platinum. So he is convinced now that this is a kind of business she runs – getting men to propose to her with a huge diamond ring and then breaking off the engagement while keeping the ring. Of course, he won’t let it go and he’s filed a case demanding the return of the ring. The legal stand is clear – the ring goes back to the man if the engagement is broken.
