Diamond Rings And Famous Jewellers

Diamond rings have been associated with famous jewellers all over the world. We take a look at a few of them from some of the fashion capitals of the world.

Diamond Rings – Paris

Boucheron was founded in 1858 by Frederic Boucheron. He was highly innovative by nature, experimenting successfully with engraving diamonds. He introduced nature in his exquisitely executed pieces, creating works of art incorporating butterflies and dragonflies, including his celebrated Art Nouveau dragonfly pin. He was also the first jeweller to open a boutique in the fashionable Place VendĂ´me in Paris in 1893, in the sunniest corner to enhance the brilliance of his diamonds! His designs adorned the Crowned Heads of Europe and India, famous families from across the Atlantic and well known stars of the stage.

Boucheron have continued Frederic’s legacy of creativity, originality and moving with the times, incorporating Cubism and Art Deco as the eras passed. The nature themes have included snakes, feathers and flowers and Boucheron’s clientele remains as prestigious as it has always been.

Diamond Rings – London

Asprey was founded in 1781 in Mitcham. It was primarily an establishment specializing in luxury articles that catered to a wealthy and discerning clientele. Asprey moved to New Bond Street (where it remains till today) in 1847. It was in the twentieth century that Asprey turned to making fine jewellery, hiring the best goldsmiths and jewellers, including Ernest Betjeman, one of the most renowned designers and master craftsman of his time. Asprey today continues its tradition of excellence. The finest materials, expert craftsmen and designers of note are employed to create works of art in that distinctive and elegant British style that is the hallmark of a treasure from Asprey

Diamond Rings – New York

Scott Kay attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. His commitment to creating exquisite jewellery from precious metals and fine gem stones inspired him to establish his own company in 1984. World renowned as a craftsman in platinum, he is credited with its revival in the world of fine jewellery after World War II (during which time it had been banned for ornamental use). He is acclaimed for his bridal jewellery (and accessories for the bridegroom as well!) and his handcrafted creations, delicately woven or boldly innovative, are outstandingly brilliant.

Scott Kay lives by his own ethic – Never Compromise – and his devotion to fine craftsmanship, precious metals and meticulous selection of gems ensures an eventual family heirloom!

Diamond Rings – Rome

Bvlgari was founded by a Greek jeweller named Sotirios Voulgaris. (“Bvlgari” is derived from his surname). He opened his first store in his home village of Paramythia, Greece, where it still exists. His travels took him to Rome in 1881, where he founded his company and opened his second shop on via Sistina in 1884. His flagship store on via dei Condotti was established in 1905 with his sons, Giorgio and Constantino. Sotirios had a flair for original and innovative design, and a love for Rennaissance art. He combined Greek design with Roman art and blended the two cultures into unique and avant garde designs. He soon had royalty and film stars as clients and was celebrated throughout Europe.

Sotirios’ grandchildren, Paolo and Nicola Bulgari and nephew, Francesco Trapani now carry on the tradition, and the designs, as always are bold, inspired, artistic and contemporary. Bvlgari jewellery is often imitated and now comes engraved with a unique serial number.
