Wedding Rings: Decoder Rings

Though the classic wedding gold band is still the most popular wedding ring design, many younger couples are looking at newer designs – some of them are very contemporary in style and even match the technological advancements of our age. One such new addition to the list of wedding ring designs is the wedding decoder ring. It’s the stuff that crime stories and thrillers are made of and that is why perhaps it has caught the fancy of so many today.

Wedding Rings And Cryptography

These decoder wedding rings are about cryptography – the tougher the better. Each ring has a cryptic code or message and sometimes, both rings – the husband’s and wife’s need to come together to solve the puzzle. Most of these rings are modelled along the lines of the decoder rings that are so popular in comic books. Sometimes each one of the rings can be two or three bands that are linked together and rotate. There can be numbers, alphabets or symbols on the bands. The code has to be tough so it takes time to decode it – that’s the fun about these rings. Very often, the decoder rings have the date of the wedding and maybe even the time put into a cryptic message on the ring. Sometimes, it has a vow which is scrambled up and needs to be decoded to be read. In fact a science fiction author even ran a contest to see who could come up with the toughest cryptography for his wedding ring.
