Wedding Rings β But No Wedding Bells?
Is the time fast approaching when wedding bells will no longer be something you can take for granted in a church? Not just wedding bells but the ringing of church bells for any occasion. And itβs all because there are very few trained and skilled bell ringers today. Bell ringers usually operate in groups with the head instructing the young ones on how to ring the bells so they produce a harmonious and tuneful sound.
Today, with the fast depleting band, the few groups that remain need to run from church to church to ring the bells and this season is the time they are in most demand. The ropes attached to the bells hang down to the bell room and must be handled with skill otherwise you can get hurt. To learn the art is also difficult when there are so few to learn it from. With the foundries that make bells also slowly shutting shop, we wonder if there will be the joyous ringing of bells in our future or not!
