Stylish Stella In Just Her Wedding Ring
She dresses simply, her hair pulled back in a bun, with no jewellery other than her wedding ring. That’s Stella McCartney’s style as she balances her fashion business with her love for animals. She tries hard to get the fashion industry to ban the use of leather, fur and all animal related products but she knows that the going will be very slow. That’s because the industry doesn’t really care about issues like these and that saddens her. She’s been brought up in an environment where animal rights issues were very important and she would like to see the fashion industry take the lead in this.
Her mother, Linda provided the impetus to vegetarianism in the family. This year, Stella and her sister launched a campaign for meat-free Mondays. She tries to impress upon people that if we stopped using meat and stopped using fur and leather, we would cut down our greenhouse gas emissions as well as free up so much of food and land. She feels people don’t listen to what they don’t want to hear. She wishes they would.
