Friday, July 31st, 2009

It had to happen – with everything that is anything up on YouTube, it was only a matter of time that wedding rings and engagement rings made their mark there as well. A jewellery store that has its outlets spread across Texas and California has just launched a new campaign on YouTube and it features many real life proposals so someone wanting to get engaged has all the tips he could want – visual ones. It’s a great campaign and the focus is on the emotion that happens at the time of the proposal.

The Robbins Brothers felt that it would a great way to get people who want to get engaged come look at their jewellery. What they did was to have these real life situations put on YouTube first and then use them for the campaign in other media.

The Latest In Engagement Rings: 100 Facet Diamonds

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

The traditional brilliant cut diamonds that are usually the diamonds of choice for engagement rings have 57 facets and that produces quite a dazzle. So imagine what the effect would be like if there were a hundred facets. Well, that’s what the famous jeweller Roberto Coin thought and he has introduced the Cento or the diamond with a hundred facets to the world and you just can’t beat it for brilliance.

On the top of the diamond are 37 facets, on the bottom are 63. So the refection of light is amazing with a diamond like this. You can get a 100-facet diamond only if it is more than .07 carats. The stones should be flawless with very little SI or small inclusions and it should be a colourless diamond. Roberto Coin is also very particular that the diamonds used are strictly conflict-free. The new Cento Collection features these diamonds used in engagement rings as well as right through the gamut of diamond jewellery.

Monday, July 27th, 2009

The news is that there’s going to be a wedding in the Trump family and the news was tweeted by Ivana Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter. She’s engaged to Jared Kushner who is the publisher of the New York Observer. So Donald Trump will soon, we foresee, be playing the role of the father of the bride. Yet another hat for the tycoon to wear!

It would seem to be a perfect match as both are ambitious. At the Trump organisation, Ivana is the executive vice president of development and acquisitions and it would be a good thing for her to be with someone who understands the demands of her career. Her tweet said that it was the happiest day of her life.

Ten Years Since They Exchanged Wedding Rings

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

The Beckham magic is still working – ten years after they had that fairytale wedding in that castle and their pictures and news about them still makes those magazines sell. Never mind that they’ve moved to the other side of the pond – Victoria Beckham seems to have found the perfect recipe for keeping them in the news while the big bucks pour in.

For their tenth anniversary a few weeks ago, the couple went off to a lovely, luxurious island in the Seychelles, far from the madding crowd. Well, everything they do makes news but ask anyone who knows them and unlike most celebrity couples, this marriage looks like it is going to last a long time, in spite of the ups and downs. Maybe it pays to be savvy in the business side of marriage as well!

Retirement Home Resident Gets Wedding Ring Back

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

A county deputy in St. John’s County in Florida went beyond the call of duty to find a man whose wedding ring had been lost and found. The wedding ring was given in at the World Golf Village and in the normal course of things, would have gone into the evidence room at the police department.

However, this particular deputy decided to find the owner after looking closely at the ring. It had a faded engraving on it that said 1947 along with a few initials. So he did a smart thing – he went to the nearby retirement home and sure enough, found who the ring belonged to. That was a lucky day indeed for the owner!

Black And White Diamond Rings To Figure In Yael’s Designs

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The fall and winter designs from the reputed American jewellery house, Yael’s, is going to sparkle with black and white diamonds, notably chunky diamond rings. Called the Mosaic Collection, it has forty eight pieces of jewellery from rings to pendants to earrings. The black and white diamonds in this collection are all set in white gold and they are all in abstract and geometric designs.

The designs have a mosaic like effect because of the small diamonds in both colours being placed close to each other to form a perfect whole. It might look very simple but on closer inspection can be found to be very intricate designs in a pavé design. Most of them are designed with a curvature that is near-perfect.

Diamond Rings And Spanish Doubloons In Treasure Hunt Finds

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

There are a number of treasure hunters in Delaware in the US and while some are still waiting for that big break, there have been others who have found envelopes of money, Spanish doubloons and diamond rings. The trick perhaps is knowing where to look and people who do strike it lucky usually don’t give away their secret places where they go treasure-hunting. A lot of the hunting for treasure is done on river beds and what was just a hobby seems to have been revived with a vengeance in this time of recession.

Silver coins are a common find too and after a long weekend, there’s usually a haul of rings, especially diamond rings. After the revellers leave, the treasure hunters move in and very often, it is the excitement of a find rather than the value of what is found that provides the excitement. Some use metal detectors but for most, just poking around and looking is half the fun.

Limp Bizkit Frontman And Girlfriend Exchange Neil Lane Wedding Rings

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Exactly when the wedding took place is a matter of debate but it was probably last week in Vegas. Fred announced it to the world in a rather unusual way – he tweeted the information. Well, that was great news to spread like wildfire over Twitter.

The wedding rings were Neil Lane designer rings and they were made of diamonds and platinum. Obviously Fred Durst and Esther Nazarov are very happy – he also posted a photograph where they were both toasting the happy occasion with mojitos. Fred had announced to the world – again on Twitter in April when they got engaged - that they would be getting married in July. The engagement ring was also by Neil Lane and the whole world could see it because he had uploaded that on Twitter too.

Wedding Ring Found After 33 Years

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Imagine that – a wedding ring getting lost and being found after thirty-three years. Anthea lost her wedding and engagement rings in Stapleford where they lived and though she and her husband looked all over for it, even hiring a metal detector, they couldn’t find them. Then, when there was some work being done on their drive, the engagement ring turned up. They left Stapleford and moved to Bilborough a few years later, having lost hope of ever finding the wedding ring.

They had just celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary when their old neighbour called them to say that the wedding ring had been found. The lady had been doing some weeding when she found it. The couple were ecstatic at having found it after so long and hope to renew their wedding vows next year.
