The Steelers And Their Sixth Diamond Ring

Friday, June 19th, 2009

In the US, as the Steelers manage to lift their sixth Super Bowl trophy, they are going to get yet another diamond ring to join the other five. So they now have one important win more than the other main teams – the Cowboys and the 49ers.

So what are those rings going to look like? All we know from the players is that they want it with big huge diamonds and looking very ‘blingy’. Even the players who said that their image was rather low-key said that this milestone was so huge, they felt a diamond ring to match would be in order. Jewellers vie for the honour of designing these diamond rings and the team awards them the contract.

In Ballarat Australia, Your Diamond Ring Could Be At The Police Station

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

There are diamond rings and bicycles a-plenty at the Ballarat Police Station in their Lost and Found department. There are other items too like drills, tool boxes and cell phones. In fact when it comes to lost stuff, there are over 50 bicycles and only a few have been reclaimed by the owners!

Now we wonder how it is that people don’t go to the police station to find what they lose. Bad enough that so many bicycles are lying there waiting to be ‘found’ by the people who own them but what about those diamond rings and other jewellery? One would have thought that the police station is the first place one would go to if one lost a diamond ring or any other piece of valuable jewellery. However, strange but true, all those items are still waiting to be claimed!

Japan Slows Down On Engagement Rings

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Japanese couples are buying smaller diamonds for engagement rings or doing away with them altogether. This seems rather hard to believe in a country where engagement rings had become so much part of the courtship and marriage ritual. Yes, times are tough but does it warrant cutting down on the romance of it all?

Japanese couples seem to feel that with the slowing down of the economy, it might be a better idea to use the money they would have spent on a diamond ring o buy a better home or to save it for an emergency later. It looks like there has been a 50% drop in engagement ring buying over the last ten years.

Rare Diamond Rings To Be Auctioned

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

A red diamond that is said to be 59 carats from the Australian Argyle mines is said to be one of the rare diamonds that will go under the hammer mid-September in New York. There are other valuable diamond rings that are also going to be auctioned. They include a diamond ring with a yellow diamond, one with a pink diamond and one with an oval blue diamond which is 54 carats.

These are the diamonds that were supposed to be a part of a massive Treasure Hunt that included one hundred precious stones and it was part of the promotion surrounding the book, The Secrets of the Alchemist Dar. However, the idea of the hunt was cancelled. At that time, the rumour was that one of the diamonds cost over £600,000 so we’re guessing that it was the red diamond that was worth so much.

Rappers Reign In The Diamond Rings

Monday, June 15th, 2009

It looks like rappers at least are feeling the heat of the recession and there seems to be fewer diamonds on display on most of them. When it comes to rapper bling you can be sure that till now, bigger and more expensive was what has ruled their world. However, it does look like the dazzle is getting a bit dimmer so are they hawking the jewellery they have or not buying any more?

If one had been referring to anyone else, one could have said that out of due consideration for people’s feeling at times when money is tight, there could be a playing down of one’s assets. This would mean that the jewels one owns is not out on show. This might not apply to all the rappers who love to flaunt it though. It really does look like it’s more the tough financial climate that is to blame!

And Now, An Engagement Ring Law

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

It had to happen sometime in the US. There’s a law that says that in most instances, the engagement ring goes back to the one who paid for it – the man. This is because the ring wasn’t a gift that was given freely with no strings attached. It is really a conditional gift – one that presumes that the engagement will lead to marriage.

There are however, shades of grey in the law. What happens of it is the man who breaks the engagement? Then why should the woman who is jilted be asked to return the ring? Shouldn’t she keep it as some kind of compensation for what she has been through? What happens if the man’s behaviour is intolerable? According to lawyers, this law will always have exceptions and will rarely be black and white. Each relationship is different and that will need to be kept in mind when it comes to the engagement ring.

Engagement Rings Post An Engagement

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

So the engagement happened and now it’s over – what happens to the engagement ring? In some cases, the girl returns the ring to the man – well, if it is in rage, it is usually thrown back at him! In other cases, the girl walks away with the ring. The guy could try and get it back if he wants – after all, it’s his hard earned money that went to buy the ring. Whoever gets it, the problem remains – what do you do with the ring?

Now, there’s an answer. The site www.idonowidont.com is where you can go sell your ring and get a better price for it than in the jewellery store. Here’s how the site came into being. Josh Opperman came back one day to find that his fiancée had walked out on him leaving the engagement ring behind. She had cleaned him of everything else. The jewellery store would only offer him 35% of the value of the ring so he decided to go online and sell it. On that site, you could get up to 70% of the ring’s value. And you get to vent your spleen because you can tell the whole world what happened! The great thing is, men who can’t afford to spend too much on an engagement ring can come here and pick one up at a much lower price that they would elsewhere!

Online Help For Guys Wanting To Buy An Engagement Ring

Friday, June 12th, 2009

How do guys know that they have chosen the right engagement ring for the love of their life? The famous American jewellers RITANI have the answer – they have started what they call a concierge service which helps men narrow down the choices for an engagement ring.

All a man has to do is to add all the rings that he thinks his girl would like to what they call a wish list. Then, he can call on his friends, her friends and her family so they can poll what will be the best ring for his future wife. Let’s face it, her close friends and family will be able to tell a man exactly what she would like. Now they can look at the guy’s choices and then rank them according to what they think she would like. A poll like this helps a man a great deal to try and fathom what his lady love would find acceptable. The choices are all arranged in an album on their site so all he has to do is to email everyone who he thinks will know what she likes and they can go participate in the poll. For many men, this must surely comes as a breath of relief!

Which Is The Most Popular Engagement Ring Design?

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

In order to try and figure out what the most popular trends are going to be this summer and also in autumn, a US based jewellery chain called Robbins Brothers has put out an online poll and is looking for feedback so they can try and see what everyone out there wants when it comes to engagement rings. The poll is fairly simple. All a person has to do is to tick off what style of engagement ring she would like – whether traditional, vintage, modern or maybe something matched with a wedding ring and maybe even a tattoo ring!

While the traditional design make popular by Tiffany’s many years ago is still very popular, there are many young couples who are looking at more modern designs. Some of course, go right back in styles to the vintage. If a jeweller can have some kind of insight into what people are looking for, he can then design more options in that area.

Swiss Wedding Ring Designs On Show

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

The show starts off at Halifax and then moves on to places like York and Scarborough. What the show aims at doing is to make people aware that the wedding ring need not be the same old boring band of gold as it has been for ages but can look contemporary and make a fashion statement on its own. For ever so long, the focus has been on the engagement ring and not the wedding ring which really has for the most part been relegated to a commodity than a fashionable piece of jewellery.

Furrer-Jacot of Switzerland are the world’s largest manufacturers of wedding rings and they are exhibiting over one hundred and fifty types of wedding rings. They hold exhibitions all over the world. At this exhibition, you’ll find wedding rings in varying thicknesses, different metals, a wide range of designs and shapes as well as finishes. The designs range from the old world to the very contemporary and there are various combinations to choose from.

Wedding Rings But Wedding Not Legal

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

They got married in a great romantic setting in South Africa. Robert Leigh and Gillian Hudson thought they would come back to London and have a legal wedding because even though all the trappings of marriage were there in South Africa, it wasn’t legal. So there they were, on a romantic rooftop, with a priest, exchanging wedding rings, looking out onto a sea sparkling with the rays of the sun and even being addressed as Mr. and Mrs. Leigh when it was over.

However, Gillian cannot ask for a divorce or claim anything as the ceremony was not official or legal or so the British High Court has declared. The priest and the couple were aware of it and they did admit that the marriage was not legal. The woman’s daughter can get maintenance from her father, there’s nothing else that Gillian is entitled to. So though they have a romantic DVD to remember those magical moments, they are now back in London living in their separate apartments.
