Cheers To Champagne Diamonds!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

No one would as much as glance at them in the nineties but today, champagne diamonds are the darling of the diamond trade. Time was when they were dismissed as just dirty coloured stones, not really fit to be among the other sparkling diamonds. How times have changed!

What made the change possible? What was happening was that the consumer saw a diamond as valuable, never mind what the colour of the stone was. While they may like some more than the others, they never saw any colour in diamonds are not having any value whatsoever which is what the trade was doing. So a few years ago, designers began experimenting with these champagne coloured stones and the consumer took to these diamond rings and other jewellery and they became popular.

Little wonder the diamond trade followed suit. Today, champagne diamonds are popular and desired all over the world. The trade’s obsession with perfectly white diamonds seems to be changing and it is acknowledging that consumers’ tastes are what matters.

Girls Aloud Boyfriend Hunting For Wedding Rings

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

DJ Tom Crane seems to be busy looking for the right wedding rings so it is only a matter of time we feel before he and Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding say ‘I will’. Sources say that he was on holiday in Dubai when he looked around and he is hoping to have the wedding in the traditional style.

So what kind of a wedding ring is he looking for? It looks like he wants it to be a diamond ring because he is thinking of a square diamond flanked with smaller diamonds on the band. He knows she would like it subtle and he says she has excellent taste so it has to be a ring she will like.

What they would also like is an old fashioned wedding with white dress and top and tails somewhere in a small old English church and definitely not a splashy affair. Now that definitely does not seem to be anything like what the rumour mongers are saying – that they are going to split, is it?

Wedding Ring Postage Stamp

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

There are two stamps that have been released with the wedding theme in the US and they are right in time for the wedding season. The wedding cake stamp is 61 cents and the wedding rings stamp is 44 cents.

The wedding rings stamp is a photograph of a pair of wedding rings threaded through together with a thin white ribbon and placed on a white small pillow. Those who are interested in the first day of issue stamps will have to write in any time within the next sixty days and they will get their stamp mailed to them.

The thing about first day of issue stamps is that in order to be of any value, they should bear a postmark. So people usually send it to themselves if they were going to go buy them at the Post Office directly.

Diamond Rings Lost While Flying

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

It was a sad day for a teacher who was flying from JFK to San Diego in the US. She went to the bathroom with her one-year old and took her rings off to put some lotion on her hands. When her little one distracted her, she forgot about the rings and went back to her seat. It was only after they landed and were in their hotel room that she realised the rings were missing.

They searched everywhere and then called the airline but no one had turned anything in. The tragic part was that besides her diamond engagement ring, she had also worn her grandmother’s diamond wedding ring and she’s heartbroken that she has gone and lost an heirloom which she could have passed down to the next generation.

Diamond Rings In Auction

Monday, May 4th, 2009

There were Mercedes-Benzes, fur coats, cargo freighters and of course diamond rings and they were all being auctioned. However, this was no family that had fallen into bad times getting rid of their possessions. The auction was held for the goods that had been seized by the federal law enforcement agencies over a period of time, mainly in drug busts and it was held a few days ago at Miami Gardens in the US.

The great thing was that there was something for everyone and people came the day before to take a look so they could bid for what they wanted. Besides the high end stuff, there were also appliances and items like tyres and underwear!

People usually like to see what they will get and how much to bid for an item so they come by the previous day and examine the items which are laid out for sale. The diamond rings are usually a great draw and most women want to see if it fits them before they even think of bidding.

Two Diamond Rings Returned By Cleaning Crew

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

You go to a restaurant, have a great meal, come back, go to bed and after a good night’s sleep, wake up and realise that your diamond rings are missing – not just one but two of them. So what do you do? You retrace every move you made till suddenly, you remember that you took them off in the bathroom of the restaurant the night before when you went to wash your hands.

That’s what happened to a lady in Michigan after she had been out for dinner the previous night and then woke up to find her rings missing. Well, some people are born lucky and this one surely was. The cleaning crew in the restaurant had gone to clean the bathroom after closing hours and when they found the two rings, they promptly handed them in to the management of the restaurant. The cleaning crew comprised a mother-son duo and the lady to whom the rings belonged was so overjoyed, she rewarded both of them.

Diamond Rings And Celebrity Jewellery Designer On A Roll

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Her clientele numbers names like Michele Obama, Cher and Elton John. This is the Los Angeles jewellery designer who is very much in the hot focus spot today and her name is Loree Rodkin. Maybe the White House connection has precipitated her success but Loree is also very popular among the Hollywood jet set. Whether it is her chokers or bracelets or diamond rings, they all bear her stamp of creativity.

The news now is that she could be willing to for a takeover or a sell-out. She might have capped her business and kept it rather small but it is a lucrative one and we’re sure there will be takers for something like this with so much potential – recessionary times or not! Will Loree Rodkin stay on in the company as the head of its design operations, one wonders. What’s more, if a larger name snapped up her business, would they run it with the same chutzpah that she had? Time alone will tell.

Diamond Engagement Ring Lost And Found

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Most people could never, ever imagine that they could lose a diamond engagement ring on a street and then have it found and returned to them. However, this is exactly what happened to someone in Litherland, a northern suburb of Liverpool.

Danielle Nelson had got engaged four years ago to her childhood sweetheart and the diamond engagement ring she had on was worth thousands of pounds. She had gone shopping and come back when she suddenly realised her ring was missing. She was so shocked and depressed that she couldn’t even go to work for a few days. So you can imagine just how ecstatic she felt six weeks later when the police called and said they had found a diamond ring like the one she had reported lost.

The strange thing is that the woman who found it on the street was just glad that the ring was reunited with its owner and didn’t want any reward whatsoever. There are some wonderful people still on this planet!
