Fill The Boot With Diamond Rings

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Imagine the firemen’s surprise when they dug out a fabulous diamond ring from one of their boots which were kept to collect money for charity. That’s what happened in Warner Robins in Georgia, USA at the Fire Department.

The boots had been kept all over town and the charity that the proceeds were going to was the MDA or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. As the boots were being emptied out, one of the firemen spotted something glistening and realised that it was a diamond ring, probably a diamond engagement ring. So the question was, did it fall in by mistake or was it put there by a very generous person?

Just in case it was a mistake, the owner would probably be going crazy looking all over for it so the firemen have posted up notices to see if the owner shows up to claim it. Meanwhile, the Fire Department of Warner Robins has topped the list of contributors to the MDA. They have been raising money for this good cause since 1995 and since then have raised over ÂŁ1 million.

Denim And Diamonds Fundraiser

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

In Texas, the Seguin Education Foundation had its fundraising event called Denim and Diamonds at its fairgrounds on the 18th of April. What was going to be raffled was a wine fridge stocked full with red and white wine and a one-carat diamond ring that was valued at around ÂŁ7000. This gorgeous diamond was set in 14k white gold.

The event was organised outdoors in the fairgrounds unlike the usual fundraising events which are formal and indoors. The dress code was casual, there was a jazz band and the kids did the serving of the food dressed in their softball and baseball uniforms.

The event seems to have been a phenomenal success and they have raised around £40,000. The proceeds will go to Dallas’ Shelton School’s financial aid as well as enrichment programmes. This is a special school for children with above average intelligence who have learning differences.

Flawless Over-Seven Carat Blue Diamond Unveiled

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

An absolutely flawless blue diamond which has been unveiled by Sotheby’s will be the main item at an auction in Geneva early May. It is estimated to fetch over £3 million. The colour of the diamond is so rare – it is a vivid blue and it looks like this will be the rarest gem to go on sale this year. The stone was mined in the South African Cullinan mine which has given the world some other rare stones as well.

The rough diamond was nearly 40 carats before it was cut and polished and no internal flaw is visible which along with its colour is what makes it so rare. Will it sell in this recessionary climate? Though the sale of regular diamonds has fallen quite sharply over the past few months, rare gems seem to not be affected at all by what is happening around the globe. The prices don’t seem to fall either when it comes to something that is unique.

This diamond does not have a name as yet – this time, they are letting the one who is fortunate enough to buy it do the honours. So there will be a christening as it were after the sale.

One Happy Diamond Ring Owner In New South Wales Australia

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Well, not yet but she will be when she is reunited with the diamond that fell off her diamond ring on a bus journey in New South Wales. She realised the stone was missing when she was travelling on a late night bus and searched high and low for it but couldn’t find it.

The great thing was, another driver who was driving the bus the next day saw it and picked it up – of all places on the pavement where she had boarded the bus. And the lady looked all over the bus thinking that was where it had fallen.

The strange twist is that they don’t know who the couple is and so they have had to look through security footage so they can identify them. One hopes that the lady does read or hear about it and comes to claim her diamond. From despondency to delight will probably be what she feels! Somehow a diamond engagement ring has such sentimental value!

Wedding Ring In Recycling Drama

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Do you really think anyone would have found a wedding ring from a mound of newspapers weighing around 1000 kg? Well that’s what happened at a recycling unit at Fort Mojave in Arizona in the US. There was this lady who had been married for nineteen years who was putting newspapers into the recycling unit when suddenly her ring went in with the newspapers. She was a regular here and she came often to deposit all the stuff that needed to be recycled and nothing out of the ordinary had happened till a few days ago when she felt her ring slip off as she pitched the newspapers in. The wedding ring was a band of gold with a pearl mounted in the middle – and that pearl was symbolic of a child they were hoping to adopt.

Looking for a tiny piece of jewellery among thousands of sheets of newspapers is a daunting task and most people would say it was impossible. The lady tried pushing the papers back and forth but no luck. Then people around who joined in the search suggested she call up the head of the recycling unit. The staff at the unit went through the whole lot manually when normally it would have just been tipped into a shredder. It was a miracle – that the ring was found almost at the bottom of the pile and the head of the unit handed it over to the lady who was overjoyed. However, she vows it will be rings-off for her after this whenever she goes to the recycling bin.

Wedding Rings And Babies

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Her wedding ring is very much in evidence and Gisele Bundchen looks like married life suits her very well indeed. She and Tom Brady look so right for each other and they make a great family picture together – the two of them and Tom’s baby by his earlier relationship – Jack.

Gisele had unfortunately recently put a lot of backs up – mothers especially, when she made a comment that Jack was like her child that it didn’t really matter than someone else had delivered him. That must have upset Jack’s mom – Bridget Moynahan no end. Especially the bit about Jack being ‘100% mine’. Now that is sure to cheese off any mother! Her interview to Vanity Fair where she said this obviously sparked off comments from around the world.

What isn’t in focus however is the fact that Gisele obviously loves Tom’s son very much and already sees him as a part of their new family. Now that’s really something!

Jenna Dewan’s Engagement Ring

Friday, April 24th, 2009

It’s huge and you just cannot miss the diamond sparkler on her finger. Though Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum got engaged in September, they really don’t like talking too much about it outside – and that of course goes for the press.

However, their happiness is there for all the world to see. Dewan said she was wonderfully happy at the premiere of Channing Tatum’s new film ‘Fighting’. When asked when they were thinking of getting married, she said they were both busy and a wedding needed planning. But she did concede that they meant to get married sooner rather than later. So do we expect them to walk down that aisle sometime soon?

When the question was posed to Channing, he was more reticent. He feels that a wedding is a very private affair and he does not want to talk about it. Getting more than that out of him was impossible. They are so happy however and that’s what is important.

Wedding Ring For Uma Thurman?

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Are Uma Thurman and Arpad Busson going to get married this weekend? The rumours are very strong as the couple has jetted off to an island in the Bahamas and sources say that it is quite likely they will come back married.

Millionaire Arpad Busson and Uma Thurman got engaged last year and what was in the news then was the diamond engagement ring he gave her – twenty diamonds surrounding a huge eight carat diamond. So we wonder if a wedding ring is going to be added to that sparkler very soon.

The island they are on is the very same one where Mariah Carey got married last tear. They need to be there for two whole days before a marriage licence will be issued to them. Everyone including the officials is very tight lipped about things so maybe we can expect some good news in a few days.

Engagement Ring Magic

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Did he pull it out of thin air and present it to her? A week ago, David Blaine and his French girlfriend were spotted wearing what were surmised to be pre-engagement rings at Central Park. Well, it turns out they were the real thing and the engagement happened on his birthday on the 4th of April. The only thing different was that the ring was a gold band and David promised to buy her a real engagement ring when the economy improved!

David Blaine has been linked with many beautiful celebrity women but the 36 year old has finally settled on the 23 year old model, Alizee Guinochet. For David Blaine, the climb from being a street magician to the dizzy heights of being one of the most famous magic men in the world has been amazing. Alizee’s green eyes have obviously cast their spell on him because he seems quite besotted.

Is It Going To Be Real Wedding Rings This Time Around For Heidi And Spencer From The Hills?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

The two from the MTV show, The Hills are reportedly all set to tie the knot and it looks like wedding rings are in the offing. We do hope they are the regular ones this time and not a faked ceremony. Now why would we think that? The problem is the fact that it has happened before. This was last year when the couple got married – or rather faked it – in Mexico. They exchanged leather rings which they had bought at a local gift store and Heidi got married in a white sundress. So after that, one is obviously a bit sceptical about whether or not this time it’s for real. It might just be an MTV publicity stunt like the last time. However, sources say that Heidi will wear a wedding gown by Monique Lhullier and the wedding will take place on the 25th of this month in California. You guessed it – this time round, it will also be with the MTV cameras in attendance. So will they or won’t they be getting married really – or will it all turn out to be just another publicity stunt?

Making Your Own Wedding Rings

Monday, April 20th, 2009

A former Cartier jeweller in Pennine is helping couples who can’t afford to buy a wedding ring in these recessionary times. Her solution is simple – make your own wedding rings. With what do you make them? The wonderful thing is that she has set up a course that teaches people to melt down their old or inherited jewellery and to fashion a wedding ring out of that.

A do-it-yourself ring is such a great idea when everyone is counting the pennies. It also means that the ones who want to do it just have this wonderful feeling of designing and fashioning one of the most sentimental pieces of jewellery they are going to own themselves. Not just wedding rings, people can come and take a class even if they are older and want to make their own anniversary rings. All it needs is some old jewellery that no one is using.

The courses are residential and they learn and make their own rings at her workshop. What an innovative idea to be sure!
