Engagement Ring Mix-Up

Friday, March 20th, 2009

What do you do when you get the wrong ring from the jewellery store? You might think that the chances of that happening are very small, but happen it does. Take the case of what happened in Duxford the other day.

A bride-to-be wanted her engagement ring re-sized so she dropped it off at a jewellery store at Royston High Street. She was to pick it up a fortnight later and when she did so, she got the wrong ring. She wasn’t convinced the ring was hers but the shop insisted it was. Then, a few days ago, the store called her saying that there had been a mix-up and that they had her original ring.

The couple are so happy to get the actual ring back – after all, there is so much sentimental value attached to an engagement ring. The store apologised saying something like this has never happened to them before and it was the first time a mistake like this had occurred. They put it down to both rings being very similar.

Wedding Ring Donation

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

They still don’t know if it was by accident or design. However, a wedding ring – a plain band of solid gold was found in a collection bucket on Valentine’s Day. So did someone really donate the ring or did it fall into the bucket by mistake?

It was all for a good cause. A group of students was collecting money for paediatric cancer patients at the Penn State Medical Centre. They all went to their hometowns in order to collect as much as they could. One of the student’s fathers found the ring at the back of the car and he knew it could only have fallen out of the bucket which had been placed there. Now the students need to find the owner to ask whether he donated the wedding ring or if it fell in by accident.

If the owner did indeed donate it because his heart was touched by the plight of those little children afflicted by this terrible disease, that was a very charitable thing to do indeed!

Engagement Rings Or Wedding Rings For Single Women

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

For single women, whether unmarried or divorced or widowed, not being a part of a couple meant no ring. However, the woman of today is not having any of that and more and more single women are wearing rings that boldly say, ‘I love myself!’

The thing is, so many people tend to judge a woman by that ring on her finger – a ring that says she belongs, that she is loved. So why not a ring that says you love yourself? A woman today is strong and self sufficient and she does not need to be protected by a man. So a ring that could be worn all the time or sometimes is a great idea. If you want to flaunt a diamond ring, why not? And who is to tell you which finger to wear it on?

The only problem with rings for single women is the fact that with a ring, everyone will think you are already engaged or married and that may not be a very welcome offshoot of this for a single woman. However, if a woman does not care what idea she gives the world, then it really doesn’t matter whether or not she wears a ring – she can wear one if she wants to!

Diamond Engagement Ring And Wedding Band In One

Monday, March 16th, 2009

There are a number of couples who want to economise in these times. So the new trend seems to be to design one ring for both the wedding and the engagement. Most rings have a diamond in them to bring out the romance of an engagement.

The trend seems to be to have a ring that is a gold, white gold or platinum band and to have a diamond set in the middle. People are also looking at palladium for wedding ring-cum-engagement bands. The strange thing is that a lot of women seem to like this new trend as it means that they now have to wear just one ring on their finger which makes it easy when they are working or if they want to wear other jewellery when they want to go out for the evening.

Will this trend last? One is not sure but if you have just one ring, you could always have it redesigned on a special anniversary and make it into two rings at that point of time. Right now, it makes a lot of practical sense to many women to have just one ring.

Was There Ever A Diamond Engagement Ring For Jennifer Aniston?

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

The hot news was that a certain jeweller was designing a ring for Jennifer Aniston so obviously, the world thought that she and her musician beau, John Mayer would be getting engaged any day. Not so, we’re sorry to hear. Apparently there never was an engagement ring in the picture nor is there likely to be one now. The couple have decided to call it a day and are not seeing each other any more.

The gossips even had the ring described perfectly – a diamond engagement ring with an 18-carat diamond designed in a vintage, classic style. However, the people who were supposed to design the ring have denied that they are doing anything of the sort. Now we know that John Mayer can well afford a diamond that is huge but the point is, as of now, there is no ring and it was just all hot air.

Considering that the news was all over the place, it’s going to be a bit embarrassing for all concerned. They did make a good couple though and it will be sad to see them go their separate ways just when everyone was waiting for them to walk up the aisle together.

Diamonds Go Pink For A Cause

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

In Canada, Carats Direct in Vancouver has joined hands with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in order to raise money for this worthy cause. They have designed eight special pins – these will obviously be a limited edition – and the pins will be in the shape of the logo of the Breast Cancer Foundation which happens to be a pink ribbon tied in the shape of a bow.

What they plan to do is to auction these pins and give the proceeds to the Foundation. The design was done by a jewellery designer who is a breast cancer survivor which makes it all the more poignant. It has a small pink diamond set among white diamonds in white gold.

Carats Direct happens to be the largest distributors of pink diamonds in the country so it was only natural that this colour was used to get some funds for this cause. It will, no doubt, spread a lot of awareness about this Foundation too.

Helen Hunt And Her Diamond Engagement Ring Sparkler

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Looks like Helen Hunt is engaged if that huge brilliant sparkler on her ring finger is anything to go by. She was flaunting it so obviously she wanted the world to see how happy she was.

She and Matthew Carnahan have been together for around eight years and both looked really thrilled even though their agents or they did not make any announcements to the press. They didn’t deny the engagement either. Matthew is a writer, director and producer and they have a little daughter.

Helen Hunt has had her share of successes on the big screen and the news is that she could land the part in the new film Every Day.

All Jessica Simpson Wanted Was A Diamond Engagement Ring

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

That was what Jessica Simpson was hoping for this Valentine’s Day but it was not to be. Her boyfriend, football star Tony Romo wasn’t taking the bait, even though she has been going on and on about how much she loves him.

It’s sad actually because she seems to have been living the past few months on hope and prayer. She wanted it so badly for Christmas, then for New Year, then on Valentine’s Day. Maybe she wanted it a bit too badly? Whatever the reason, she wants to be engaged and she isn’t – at least not yet. She was being candid with her sister, Ashlee a few days later, saying that she wanted him to propose but wondering if her ever would. The trouble is that Jessica wants so much to get married and have children but Tony really doesn’t seem like he’s ready for that kind of responsibility yet.

Diamond Ring Found After Twenty Long Years

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

It was what was called a ‘promise ring’ – a ring that was a pre-engagement ring that pledged a couple’s troth, so to speak. Way back in 1989, Janice Amos of Ohio lost her promise ring on Christmas Day when she had stopped by to see her in-laws. It had one diamond in the centre and was surrounded by six diamonds.

Her promise ring had been given to her by her husband in the early seventies a couple of years before they got married and when they did, she had the ring resized so it would fit her little finger. When she realised it was missing, she was devastated as it was of great sentimental value to her. They looked all over but couldn’t find it.

Twenty years later, when a garage was being built, the workers saw something shining and they picked it up. Honest men that they were, they gave it to her husband – imagine their joy at finding the ring after so many years! She had to get it restored a bit but all the diamonds were there and for Janice, it was a real pleasure to find it again.

Was Kate Silverton Trying On Engagement Rings?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

BBC’s Breakfast presenter, Kate Silverton and her boyfriend, Mike Heron were seen in New Bond Street and Hatton Garden at jewellery stores. Were they shopping for an engagement ring? It looks like it especially when she was seen looking at a diamond ring on her finger in the daylight outside the one shop’s entrance.

Mike Heron used to be with the Royal Marines and the two met when he instructed her when she did a journalist’s course on going into troubled areas. They both travel a lot so it isn’t easy spending time together but now it looks like they have decided to take the plunge.

The air was rife with speculation when Kate said in an interview recently that she was considering children for the very first time. She also said that the man in her life had just come back from Afghanistan so it wasn’t really difficult to put two and two together and come up with the right answer, not when the two were seen diamond engagement ring shopping!

Was Justin Timberlake Shopping For An Engagement Ring?

Monday, March 9th, 2009

That’s what the rumour mills say – that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were out looking at engagement rings. They’ve been together since 2007 so maybe it shouldn’t be such a surprise. However, when stars like these two are seen in a jewellery store in New York, the air is going to be thick with rumours. Especially when Justin spent so much time looking at rings.

The rumour mills also seem to know where the wedding is going to be – in Italy, so they say. Apparently, both of them attended a friend’s wedding there and wanted theirs to take place there too. It could be happening this summer and one can expect it to be a really newsworthy event.

Justin Timberlake has had his serious relationships before this and so has Jessica Biel so one will just have to wait and see whether the wedding really takes place.
