The difference can be up to 90%. Does that sound shocking? Let’s take a look at how one carat of diamond can differ so hugely from another carat. And no, we are not talking about real diamonds versus fake diamonds or imitation diamonds. We’re talking about the real thing.
When you are going to buy a diamond engagement ring, granted you want a diamond to show your love and nothing else will do. However, you have to keep your budget in mind. If you have a rather small budget and still want to buy a great looking diamond engagement ring, here’s what you can do. A solitaire diamond of good quality can be passed up for 1 carat of small diamonds which can be set in a cluster or a pavé setting. Depending on the size of the stones and the setting, you can get a diamond engagement ring for as much as 90% less.
Well, you don’t have to go all the way down the ladder when it comes to costs but what you should be aware of is the fact that you can get something that looks good in diamonds and yet costs much less. There are 1 carat diamonds and there are 1 carat diamonds.

The cop station at Des Moines, Iowa in the US saw one of their officers lose his wedding ring in the course of duty but the station head says that the wedding ring will not be replaced. There is a standing rule that equipment as well as uniforms will be replaced if there are damages in the course of an operation. Over and above this, there is a certain amount that covers small items like specs and watches but this cover does not extend to any kind of jewellery and that includes wedding rings.
Unfortunately, this seems to have set off a cold war between the management and the union. The top brass feels this is only fair and that the officers should really be leaving behind all their valuables at home – this means their wedding ring too as they wouldn’t like people asking for compensation to become a regular thing.
As for this officer who lost his ring when there was a chase, his fellow officers are passing the hat around to try and help him pay for a new wedding ring.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag were rather proud of their wedding bands – they showed them off like they were. They went to Cabo and came back with these wedding rings which cost all of forty pesos. The couple feel that it’s the best recession proof idea they’ve had.
Like Brangelina, this couple is being called ‘Speidi’ by linking both their names. Guess you have to join the ranks of the rich and famous to have your name liked to your spouse like that! The question is, will this be followed up with another wedding? After all, they might want their family and friends to share their joy which is why there seems to be so much intense speculation about not just if but when the actual wedding will be.
When it comes to rings, Spencer seems to be running true to type. It doesn’t look like he’s got any plans for a huge big bit of bling to grace Heidi’s finger. The engagement ring was from off the shelves in a mall and it was an amethyst. These wedding rings cost even less so one wonders what future gifts will bring – if there are any at all?

In Malaysia, a man was seen digging through rubble last week – and he was looking for his wife’s and his wedding rings. The couple lived in Bukit Antarabangsa and suddenly, a massive landslide took her away from him. It was strong enough to bring fourteen houses down and now Jason Ng wants to find their wedding rings so he has something precious to remember her by.
They had been together since school, in fact they knew each other since they were knee high. They also took off their wedding rings at night and kept them on her side of the bed together with her mobile phone. What prompted Jason to look was the fact that the mobile phone was ringing so he was sure if he located it, he would find the rings as well.
He hasn’t thus far and now the mobile phone doesn’t ring anymore. He has been given permission to dig through the rubble as all who know realise that it is his mission of love. He struggles on to find those wedding rings even though there doesn’t seem to be much hope of getting them now.

She was photographed without her wedding ring and obviously, speculation began. Was the marriage to Marc Anthony over? There were so many doomsday prophets who predicted that it would never last – and it has till now, babies and all. Marc Anthony isn’t really very popular with the press and everyone is willing to stick their neck out and state that there’s trouble in the Anthony household.
Here’s where it all began. It was a premiere for her movie Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. She arrived without her wedding ring and that of course was all the press needed to go berserk with speculation. The fact was that she had a massive Neil Lane sparkler on and it is quite likely that she must have removed her wedding ring because the two didn’t quite match. That would most likely be the simplest explanation. However, with such titillating possibilities, why on earth wouldn’t anyone assume what they want to, especially when it’s J.Lo?

In Sausalito in the US, thieves stole diamond rings worth a lot from one of the galleries. There were two men who were seen looking at the jewellery in a cabinet there and it appears from investigations that they had been checking out quite a few of the jewellery stores in the area.
The news is that the cabinet had been left unlocked in this downtown gallery and the two – it is suspected that one is an African American and the other Asian – seem to have quietly helped themselves to the diamond rings without anyone noticing. The estimated time of the theft seems to be 4 pm.
Burlwood Gallery must be really upset at this lapse of not checking to see if the cabinet was secure. Maybe they never expected thieves to get so audacious with a daylight robbery.

He wanted a Hummer H3 and once he got it, he realized that the payments on it were too high for him to be able to cope – so he claimed damages on it. A background check came up with the fact that this wasn’t the first time he had claimed insurance. He had also done so with a diamond engagement ring. He had bought it, then claimed he had lost it on the way to proposing to his girlfriend. This man from Salem had even filed a police complaint about the loss.
The diamond ring was a princess cut ring with three diamonds and he had bought insurance with it. The he went on to report other thefts and claim insurance on them like two ATM cards. Fortunately, when the investigation was being done, they found tapes of him coming by to the ATM machine at the bank in his Hummer – which he had claimed was totally damaged. There were other incidents too which they followed up on.
The long and short of it was that this man, Parrish, faced charges and was imprisoned. In prison, it is said that he is helping the other inmates to write letters to their loved ones and is teaching them to read the Bible. A far cry from his insurance fraud days.

The man who is doing the proposing can now design the engagement ring he wants for his bride to be. There’s a website in New Zealand set up by a jeweller that offers a wizard that can help a guy design just the engagement ring he has dreamed about for his girl.
He has all the tools at his disposal not only to design the ring but also to make sure that all the materials he is using online will translate into a ring that is within his budget. Once he has finished designing his ring online, he can show it around and run it through family and friends.
The choice of diamonds on this site encompass all kinds – from different shapes to a choice of settings and even the kind of metal that he would want it set in. Once the design is done, it is sent off to the jeweller who gets it handcrafted and then it is shipped to your doorstep.

A couple in the Washington D.C tax office went out and splurged on an engagement and wedding ring set using ill gotten gains. They, together with a few other conspirators, had gone out and cashed fake property tax refunds and laundered the money all over the world.
Today, the woman has been jailed and the ring set has been seized by the tax authorities and the man is free because there is not enough evidence against him. The money all came from the tax payers in the Washington D.C. area. This is stated to be the worst scandal in financial corruption history and there have been eleven people who have been a part of this scam.
The diamond engagement ring and the wedding ring were bought just before the scam was busted and the set is estimated to have cost around £16,000. According to the DC Examiner, the evidence against the woman does not seem to be sufficient either so she is still waiting for her sentence.

Will Jillian Anderson get back her diamond engagement ring? She lost it somewhere in Grantham a few days ago and she doesn’t quite know where. Someone might just have picked it up, she feels, after having drawn a blank everywhere that she thinks she might have gone to. So she’s going to offer a reward to anyone who brings the ring in.
The diamond engagement ring is very special – it’s a twisted gold ring and it has a diamond which is hexagonal in shape. What is so special about it is the fact that her fiancé Stuart designed it and had it made by the local jeweller and it was fashioned to match both their wedding rings. So obviously, it’s not something that can be replaced and is of great sentimental value to both of them. They even went to ask the police but there was no ring that anyone had found and brought in. Jill tried looking everywhere and asking around in all the streets and shops she had gone into but there doesn’t seem to be any sign of her diamond engagement ring.

It was a contest run by GroomGrove.com and Platinum Guild International. The lucky winners would get two platinum wedding rings so obviously, there were many who entered. This is what they had to do: the men had to think up a proposal that was unique. The one that was the most innovative would win the prize.
The winners were Sean Palmgren and Betsey Krause. Here’s what Sean did – he caught hold of friends and family and got them to carry umbrellas in the park. What he had done was to paint a letter on each umbrella. When the umbrellas were put together, they spelled: Will You Marry Me? When she saw what those 20 umbrellas had to say, Betsey said Yes.
So it wasn’t an expensive marriage proposal but it was unique and thoughtful and that is why perhaps the couple walked away with the prize. Platinum Guild is committed to make people look at platinum in a whole new way and to achieve this, they go around expounding the benefits and beauty of platinum. GroomGrove is an online site that men can go to when they are looking for advice and suggestions on how to propose as well as tips for the whole engagement and wedding process.
