Diamond Wedding Ring Stolen From Patient
In North Queensland in Australia, an 84 year old lady was admitted with an infected foot. She was scheduled for surgery and while she was waiting, she lost two diamond rings – including her wedding ring. She feels that they had been removed from her finger.
Here’s what happened. Anne Mainwood was asleep in her ward when she lost her rings. She’s a grandmother and she’s pretty sure that she must have lost them at that time, when they must have been quietly slipped out from her fingers. So a police complaint has been made and they are investigating. Unfortunately, they have no witnesses and the old lady couldn’t tell them too as she was asleep.
This is probably why it is standard practice in most hospitals to ask patients not to come in with any jewellery or valuables and to leave them at home. It just means that temptation is kept out of the way for the staff.
