Rings are not required legally or spiritually for a marriage to be valid. My husband doesn't wear a wedding ring and never has. Why? Because he doesn't like wearing jewelry. If he won't wear a watch, why would he wear a ring? Oh yes, and after more than fifteen years of marriage, I know he's never strayed...and I know that if he'd wanted to stray a ring wouldn't have stopped him.
