Diamond Rings : News and Articles

There have been jewellers, whose designs were so unique and outstanding, that they have always remained in fashion. Many of them are sought out by the rich and famous – whether it is the big names of the big and small screen or royalty or the rich business families.

Harry Winston: An American born in 1896, whose father had a small jewellery business in New York, Harry worked with his father from childhood, but the story really began when Harry purchased Arabella Huntington’s renowned jewellery collection after her death. He re-modelled and re-worked the pieces, even re-cutting some of the stones to create unique settings and designs. His exceptional skill in crafting jewellery made him the “Jeweller to the Stars”. Today, wedding and engagement rings bearing the hallmark of Harry Winston are treasures, worth far more than their intrinsic value.

Van Cleef & Arpels: In 1896, Alfred Van Cleef, the son of a diamond merchant from Amsterdam married Estelle Arpels whose father was a wholesale merchant in precious stones. They had a great passion for gemstones and when Charles, Estelle’s elder brother, an expert gemmologist joined them, the house of Van Cleef & Arpels was born. They set up their jewellery design studio in Paris, and set about creating beautiful jewellery in new and modern designs. Their bold innovations were Art Deco in concept, with geometric shapes, clean lines and utterly elegant in their simplicity. Their distinctive rings remain highly sought after and their value has never diminished even in times of recession.

Todd Reed: Todd’s designs are bold, innovative, daring and the results are stunning! He is entirely self-taught and highly respected within the industry. Todd’s use of raw diamonds set along with cut diamonds in oddly shaped bezels is unusual, but the creation is utterly breathtaking. All the jewellery made by Todd is handcrafted at his studio in Boulder, Colorado, and he has gained a reputation in cutting-edge design, using unique diamonds sourced from around the globe and setting them in his own distinctive style.

Cathy Waterman: Her jewellery is based on nature and Byzantine art and each design is lyrical in quality. Her creations are handmade and as delicate as a spider’s web. Cathy has a studio in L.A., California and though her address and phone numbers are unlisted, her customers still track her down. She is copied frequently, but her clients (and many of them are stars from Hollywood) recognize her distinctive style immediately. Cathy makes exquisite jewellery from platinum, gold and diamonds. The stones are handpicked, the designs then created around them with loving artistry. The resulting pieces are magical!

Neil Lane: Probably one of the most well known names in Hollywood today, he is sought after greatly by the stars when it comes to diamond engagement rings. His jewellery also graces celebrities as they walk down the red carpet for an important event.
