Diamond Rings – The 4 CsHow are diamond rings valued? There’s more than one parameter that is used. In fact, they are valued on four main parameters and these are called the 4 Cs. The 4 Cs stand for Cut, Carat, Clarity and Colour. Together, these come together to tell you what a diamond is worth. Diamond Rings: The Cut Of The DiamondSo much of a diamond’s appearance depends on the cut. If it isn’t beautifully cut, it looks like a stone, nothing more. That’s why uncut diamonds don’t sparkle the way cut ones do. What a diamond cutter does is to make sure the diamond is cut so that it has a number of facets which catch the light and reflect it so that the sparkle flows out of the top. This is what makes the stone so dazzling. Diamond Rings: The Carat Or Weight Of The DiamondThe weight of a diamond is measured in carats. Each carat is equal to a fifth of one gram. Each carat can be split up into a hundred points. Just because one diamond weighs the same as another in terms of carats does not mean that both diamonds will be of the same value as the cut, the colour and the clarity of the diamond will also have to be taken into account. All other things remaining the same, a diamond that is larger ands weighs more than another will cost more. Diamond Rings: The Clarity Of The DiamondSome diamonds are crystal clear and some have tiny imperfections in them. Very often, these might not be visible to the naked eye and could be miniscule impurities trapped within the stone. However, the presence of these impurities means that the value of the diamond goes down a bit. The clearer the diamond, the higher the value. Diamond Rings: The Colour Of The DiamondWhen you think of a diamond you thing colourless or, as it is known in diamond circles, white. Depending on how white a diamond is, the greater the value. Coloured diamonds abound but they are usually valued as less than the white diamonds. In recent times however, thanks to the celebrities and their rather kinky preferences, coloured diamonds are also becoming popular. However, when a diamond is almost totally colourless, it means that it will shine better as it allows the light from outside to pass through it with ease and get refracted into a rainbow of dazzling colours. A perfect diamond in a diamond ring will have the best cut, carat, clarity and colour and this is what will make it sparkle and dazzle wherever it goes. A unique diamond always makes its presence felt, making the one who wears it proud to be seen in its company. |
